Diamonds, things that look like odd symbols, letters that don't look like letters, boxes shaded in, squiggly lines, trails, fences, horizon lines, faces... I could fill a whole page up with unrelated drawings all connected together into one. If I'm left on hold long enough, I'll even start drawing the hold music. |

I draw people. |

If I'm doodling while watching Buffy/a film my style will adapt to what's going on. I tend to number the little drawings (usually cartoons of people) and play back what I was thinking afterwards. My doodles are usually quite sketchy and with writing in them. I use a fine liner or a black biro, and very rarely a pencil. If something goes wrong, I'll try and blend it in or scribble it out. Sometimes I'll draw in a set style, but if I'm in a creative mood or something particularly interesting is happening on screen, my doodles will become more elaborate/imaginative, etc. I often doodle in the books we're reading in class, and write little messages (like, it'll be two circles with dark blobs at the top to represent me rolling my eyes). If a juxtaposition happens, the doodling will go pretty mental. I love doodling |

The alphabet, straight lines closely spaced, cubes, spirals. Probably from college architect training doing the alphabet over and over until lettering was perfect, sketching buildings, etc.

Equal, geometric shapes, usually. |

Usually I doodle flowers. Sometimes I begin tracing around things and then make up triangle designs. Usually just one flower after another though. |
Zang |
I usually do geometric shapes and shade them. |

geometric patterns, spiraling in on themselves... though, I don't doodle very often these days (I did it a lot in grade school, though). |

I don't. |

I draw cartoon characters, mostly. Sometimes I'll write words in intricate lettering. I use a lot of shading, perspective and 3D effects in my doodles. |

overlapping triangles, concentric circles, mazes |

Neurotic.
Boxes or box patterns. Barbed wire and stange linear patterns, some of them reminiscent of meander. I like to go over my lines many times and reinforce them. I rarely attempt to draw anything alive, it's mostly geometric patterns. |

Something like that, except they all join together, cylinders, cubes, more elaborate stuff and then I shade them. I find it interesting trying to imagine a light source and shading them appropriately. |
| RGirl | | (reply to ROCKMAN) posted 6-Jan-2007 6:32pm |
I make cubes and cones and columns other three dimentional ones and shade the sides of them differently. |

This is my favorite Minimary survey. It's inspiring. Makes me want to fill in all my sketch books. |

I don't have that kind of imagination, and can't draw worth a crap. |

Gotcha! |
they |
Cartoon-y type characters and faces.... objects.... different types of writing.. A lot of tribal-type scribbles..
I dunno... it's hard to describe a doodle... |
| filiasan |
Cartoonish style, like a cross between Disney and non-realistic anime style. In one word, attractive. My characters would be vain. :P |

Straight lines, arrows, and isometric shapes. |

If I'm doodling to pass the time, or to try to stay awake in meetings, I make lots of dots and connect them with lines in various patterns. |

Symmetrical and often geometric shapes. |
| ausfox |
I draw butterflies, stars, houses, cubes and worms. |
Enheduanna |
It varies, although it's often floral. |

Circles. I do that to get a pen's ink going. I don't doodle. |

I was an art/English/science major... I doodled a lot of animals and eyes. |
| cabinfever | | posted 17-Jan-2007 3:00am |
I can't draw worth a damn, so usually my doodling is just geometric shapes that I entangle and shade in. |
| judgescratch | | posted 18-Jan-2007 7:22pm |
I usually combine pressing hard lines with softer shading.
Not a lot of curves, though.
Good question! |

I often make lists of ways to say things or rules. For example in business meetings to appear as if I am taking notes I will make a list of things not to do at a business meeting, this is not serious, it is meant to be humorous. I will also make up lists of how to say things like "dying" ie... kicked the bucket, pushing up daisies, bought the farm, as many as I can think of. |

I don't do that much doodling, but I'll make circles and up and down scratches with my pen to get it going. |
LindaH | | posted 28-May-2007 8:30pm |
I have a dry erase board I'm always drawing on, and then erasing. I've drawn some regrettably unsavable cool stuff on there. I really should draw in my sketch pad. |

My doodles, although rare, include NBA fantasy rosters, architectural and nautical structures, mazes, trees, landscapes, potential inventions, chemical structures, automotive variants and custom motorcycles designs. |
