| ROCKMAN | posted 26-Dec-2006 8:34am I have used them in the swamps of La. before many times. They are a blast to run through the swamps in. |
| bill | posted 26-Dec-2006 8:36am sure... though, I'd want to make sure my seatbelt could be removed easily. We had a recent airboat accident near where I live where someone being rescued was strapped into one and the boat sank, quickly, and she drowned. |

| bill | (reply to ROCKMAN) posted 26-Dec-2006 8:45am yeah... people have questioned whether they are really a good idea for a rescue vehcile. Though, they are so good at going over almost any terrain, so that's why people choose them. |
| hypersky | posted 26-Dec-2006 8:49am I'd like to try it sometime. I've seen footage where they're riding in the Everglades and that looks totally awesome. |
| Melf | posted 26-Dec-2006 9:49am I have no urge to ever ride on one. I think I'd be scared half to death. |
| LindaH | posted 26-Dec-2006 11:55am Yes. That looks like fun. |
| MiniMary | (reply to ROCKMAN) posted 26-Dec-2006 12:24pm Why do they call them 'air boats'...do you run above the water? Wouldn't they have to go awfully fast to do that? |
| Anderz | posted 26-Dec-2006 4:11pm I would like to ride one sometime. |
| Amanda | posted 26-Dec-2006 4:29pm I have before. |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 26-Dec-2006 4:40pm No thank you keep my ticket |

| cloudhugger | posted 26-Dec-2006 4:46pm That looks awesome. I've seen them in the Florida Keys, it looks like alot of fun. |
| patarnone | posted 26-Dec-2006 6:12pm Now this is more like it, hell YES I want to ride on one! Fudge that, I want to drive it! |
| JessicaWoman99 | (reply to patarnone) posted 26-Dec-2006 6:23pm > Now this is more like it, hell YES I want to ride on one!
> Fudge that, I want to drive it! I could see myself driving one of these here in Colorado out on the lake he he he and hope not to crash and burn |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 26-Dec-2006 6:24pm I wonder if these airboats would make a good River Boat? |
| Enigma | posted 26-Dec-2006 9:10pm I'd ride in one if I had the chance. |
| Enheduanna | posted 26-Dec-2006 9:24pm I have never been on one. I have no urge to go on one, but I wouldn't have a problem with going on one, either. |
| llamamama | posted 26-Dec-2006 11:46pm I do not want to ride on one.
The roll over ratio is humongous |
| ihatespiders | posted 27-Dec-2006 1:01am I have been on one, theyre fun but noisy. |
| ROCKMAN | (reply to bill) posted 27-Dec-2006 6:10am I used the one I barrowed in the swamps and you could go anywhere in it. |
| ROCKMAN | (reply to MiniMary) posted 27-Dec-2006 6:22am They are pushed by air, and they don't sit very low in the water. No propeller to hit the bottom. |
| ROCKMAN | (reply to JessicaWoman99) posted 27-Dec-2006 6:29am They will work on a lake too. They can turn over easy though. |
| MiniMary | (reply to ROCKMAN) posted 27-Dec-2006 12:47pm Oh, i get it. It sounds like fun. Do you have one of these boats? I would love to take a ride with you....but I am afraid the little woman would get jealous. |
| JessicaWoman99 | (reply to ROCKMAN) posted 27-Dec-2006 8:16pm > They will work on a lake too. They can turn over easy though.
I would not want to see one of these turning over and create a disaster is all we need |
| LJD | posted 27-Dec-2006 10:28pm What is the difference in the ride on an airboat to a regular boat? |
| RGirl | posted 27-Dec-2006 11:30pm I would love to! |
| cabinfever | posted 28-Dec-2006 1:03am Looks like fun. |
| ROCKMAN | (reply to JessicaWoman99) posted 28-Dec-2006 5:14am If it started to go I would jump! Acctually if you know how to drive/steer them and use the throttle they are pretty safe. |
| ROCKMAN | (reply to LJD) posted 28-Dec-2006 5:16am > What is the difference in the ride on
> an airboat to a regular boat? An airboat is moved by a large fan insted of a prop in the water. Thus it can go over/through weeds and things. |
| they | posted 28-Dec-2006 8:34am Do they tip?
I have this aversion to bodies of water that I can't see through.... There could be a corpse floating by that brushes my leg. |
| LJD | (reply to ROCKMAN) posted 28-Dec-2006 12:14pm I see...So this is why they can be used in swamps without problems of getting caught in weeds and other things. What a wonderful invention. |
| ROCKMAN | (reply to LJD) posted 29-Dec-2006 7:18am That's it! I used to use one in the swamps back when I was into collecting snakes and catching gators.
Here's a pic of part of the swamp. [full] |
| mve17 | posted 29-Dec-2006 9:41am Only if I could bring along my air guitar. |
| ROCKMAN | (reply to mve17) posted 29-Dec-2006 10:22am > Only if I could bring along my air guitar.
Bring it on! |
| LJD | (reply to ROCKMAN) posted 29-Dec-2006 1:25pm Oh my gosh, you caught alligators...now that's dangerous. What did you do with the alligators? Why snakes and alligators? Reptiles have never been my favorite of God's creatures....they're scary to me. You collect snakes...how many do you have, and do you have them on display somewhere? Where was the swamp picture taken? Your girlfriend has to love you a lot to be able to live near the snakes...LOL |
| ROCKMAN | (reply to LJD) posted 30-Dec-2006 5:27am I used to collect them. I was just into reptiles at the time. This swamp is the Henerson swamp in La. |
| thecomic22 | posted 30-Dec-2006 1:12pm Sounds fun |
| ROCKMAN | (reply to thecomic22) posted 31-Dec-2006 9:19am > Sounds fun
It was always a blast to me. You also had to watch out for alligators in the water and snakes dropping out of the moss filled trees. Of course that was what I was out there for. |
| thecomic22 | (reply to ROCKMAN) posted 31-Dec-2006 5:44pm I can imagine a snake falling on me |
| ROCKMAN | (reply to thecomic22) posted 1-Jan-2007 5:28am I like snakes and collected them and caught them all the time, but one falling on me out of a tree still startled me. |
