I don't think people judge me on my looks, I think they judge me on how I present myself. I am a smiler and I think that it works to my advantage.

Of course. Bad side: Age, gender and racial bias. Good side: Paying child's fare on the bus.

People tell me I look 14. The last time someone said this was two days ago!

Sometimes, I get 'honey-buns' comments, but if I have an opportunity to look them in the face, I make them see the part of me that matters.

When a woman tells me I am handsome, I accept it, with good grace, for what its worth ie. a comment on my physical appearance. I do not interpret it as a judgment of my character.

I find people comment on an inner radiance, that manifests as appearance. Even make-up is an extension of ones state, an hour of scrutiny can't achieve the look created in a couple minutes of elation.

I think my reasonable level of good looks has made my passive personality viable. Had I been uglier, I think I'd be depressed a lot of the time and/or I'd have had to change my personality (assuming that's possible).

I can't imagine that *anyone* isn't judged by his/her looks at least sometimes. In my case it seems to be good for me sometimes, and bad for me other times.

If people judge me by my looks, I hope it is favourably, but not so favourably that they are disappointed when I open my mouth.

People do judge me by my looks, and it's a disadvantage. People look at me and assume that I'm a child. Once this woman came into my work and thought I was the daughter of my coworker. It really sucks. And I know their presumptions are final when I speak. My voice says it all....I also get asked if I'm lesbian because people *assume* that because I have my eyebrow pierced that my tongue is studded, which leads to "oh she must be lesbian."

Maybe not on my looks.. but I think they do judge me on my clothing. I have never noticed before because I don't usually pay attention to people around me in public places.. but lately my SO has been pointing out the fact that my combat boots can be quite disruptive.

Mandy.. people assume I am a lesbian too... When I've asked why they thought that, they usually have no answer.

The combat boots, maybe? Doesn't it just suck that people have to try to label everyone? Why do we try to fit each other into these specific little categories? Most people aren't that organized in other ways, but we seem to need to organize people into groups in our minds. It's really a shame.

yes, and i dislike it. wether it is 'advantageous' depends on the situaton. In business situations, it tends to be a plus nowadays. In personal situations, I always think it sucks.

I suppose disdain is appropriate if no degree of open minded thinking could conjecture a belief system as at least having a well intended heart.

Yes, and that's fine with me because i'm a good person and look that way. I judge others too, but it's there eyes and body language mostly, not their clothes or something.

There was a time when I felt *everyone* judged me only on my looks...I got over it, and realized that most people judge me on my attitude, and then my looks, and sometimes m clothing...I used to think that if I over compensated people would not think I was just a dumb blonde...then I realized, mpst people were more then happy if I smiled and listened. That works for me.

All people judge others by their looks. It may not be conscious, but we all do it. Some people are just better than others at letting the judgement pass and getting to know the true person.
