If he is exploding, you can't stop him; you just pick up the body parts later.
If you have a weapon and spot him before he blows himself up, you shoot him (a head shot is probably the only option, otherwise he can still set off his charge.)
If you are near him and you see that he is about to set off his explosives but can't stop him, you duck to the ground and hope for the best.

I watch Heroes too! At least this is what was said on the last one I watched so I'm assuming. I imagine you can if you get to him before he explodes and it would help if you had a special power as well. Maybe something where you be impenetrable so when he explodes you can jump on him, covering him as much as you can & the explosion would end there. Or teleport him to a remote area before he expodes.
