| labjog | posted 3-Dec-2006 6:39am All of the above.I cant even sleep in a camper trailer, the slightest movement sends me reeling. It's an awful thing to have. I think dramamine helps the best. I have also tried ginger tea and ginger tablets, they help some, but dramamine works best for me, it's also a good sleep aid. |
| Lahdee | posted 3-Dec-2006 6:43am I've never been out on the open sea to know...but none of the rest. |
| romkey | posted 3-Dec-2006 9:37am No. I've gotten car sick once in my life, when I had a cold and we were driving to Hana in Maui. I had some motion sickness once on a carnival ride. That's about it. |
| Melf | posted 3-Dec-2006 9:56am Car, sometimes. Never on a plane or a ferry. |
| Gomezy3k | posted 3-Dec-2006 11:06am Back when I was younger I couldn't read in a vehicle and sometimes got feeling a little fuzzy around the edges when riding in the back of the car... I could ride roller coasters and fly and even go on boats. Now in the last few years I can no longer even do these. I can't even ride in those rides that the chair moves while you look at a screen. I get deathly sick if I ride one of those. I have tried to ask doctors about this but they pretty much ignore it by saying well don't ride them..... |
| Galomorro | posted 3-Dec-2006 11:28am Not at all. I've heard that ginger -- especially ginger caps -- are good for any kind of motion sickness. |
| llamamama | posted 3-Dec-2006 12:00pm Car sickness only if I read..then I feel like crap. But generally, no. I don't know if I get air sickness because I've never flown..but we shall find out soon enough, eh? |
| bill | posted 3-Dec-2006 12:52pm Yes, though it happens very rarely now. As a kid I used to get car sick, but that faded over time. I think not riding in the backseat helps that a lot. I don't usually get sick on boats, but there was this infamous whale watch I went on with rough seas, where 1/3 the people on the boat puked and I felt pretty nauseous. I've never gotten nauseous or sick on a commercial airline, but I do get a bit queasy flying in small planes.
As a kid, they used to give me Dramamine, which seemed to work. Though, I think it makes you drowsy. As an adult, I've tried pressing that acupressure spot on my wrist. If it it worked, it didn't work that great. |
| gambler | posted 3-Dec-2006 12:52pm Sea, but only if its a little row boat kinda thing.......... big ships I am fine with ........ dramamine is good |
| patarnone | posted 3-Dec-2006 1:23pm I was in the 3rd or 4th grade and got sick when someone lit a cigar in the car on the drive from Sequim back to Walla Walla. I was with my cousin and one of his friends instead of the bus.
That was the last and only time and , believe me, it wasn't the motion. He stopped the car in time. |
| RGirl | posted 3-Dec-2006 5:59pm Just car and it can be really bad. |
| RGirl | (reply to bill) posted 3-Dec-2006 6:02pm I tried these little wrist bands that put pressure on both wrists in the pressure point. Didn't work. |
| LindaH | posted 3-Dec-2006 6:54pm No, and I only get airsick on descent. |
| Zang | posted 3-Dec-2006 6:59pm Not since I was a kid. When I was under ten, we used to go on these summer camping trips. My brother and I would get to go to the local comic shop and buy big stacks of comic books for the trip. Reading comics on long car trips would tend to make me a bit nauseous after a while sometimes.
Another time we were on my uncle's boat and it broke down. We spent quite a while adrift while repairs were made. With the engine hatch open, the smell of diesel fuel was wafting about and I was hungry. That was kind of nauseating too. |
| Enigma | posted 3-Dec-2006 7:38pm No I'm lucky I don't because I just love travel by air boat or car! |
| longhaultrucker | posted 3-Dec-2006 7:59pm No thankfully not, all though i took a ride on a deep sea fishing boat and i felt ill but never threw up |
| hypersky | posted 3-Dec-2006 9:02pm I used to get sick easily as a kid, but I grew out of that. Sometimes I'll get a bit car sick if I read (while someone else drives, of course...) |
| bill | (reply to RGirl) posted 4-Dec-2006 6:33am Yeah... I was to cheap to buy them, they were like $8! |
| Enheduanna | posted 4-Dec-2006 12:26pm No. |

| RGirl | (reply to bill) posted 4-Dec-2006 6:07pm I was desperate. |
| cloudhugger | posted 6-Dec-2006 12:32am I have it badly. I have tried everything natural. Nothing will work, so I have gone back to Dramimine, the none drousy type works great. |
