| doom | posted 19-Jul-1999 10:28am Bluefish and shark as well. I really dislike fish but I have tried a bunch of different types. |
| daver | posted 19-Jul-1999 10:37am Everything but pike! Would anyone who's eaten it care to comment? For fish not listed, I'm particularly fond of monkfish. |
| Jody | posted 19-Jul-1999 11:22am I also enjoy schrod. Truth be told, there is actually no real fish called schrod, but in the Boston area I've heard it's either cod or hake or haddock - some white fish which is particularly inexpensive that day. And of course, there's the usual joke that follows where a woman gets into a cab and asks the driver, "could you take me somewhere I could get schrod?" and he replies, "sure lady, but I've never heard it referred to in the past pluperfect!". |
| Gamera | posted 19-Jul-1999 11:40am Ah, Jody! a joke involving sex and grammar geeking- you are truly after my heart! |
| bill | posted 19-Jul-1999 11:45am red snapper, clams, oysters, flounder, eel, shark, crab, I'm sure there are more... |
| romkey | posted 19-Jul-1999 12:14pm I don't like fish, but I've eaten most of these, even the ones that aren't fish. |
| gilly | posted 19-Jul-1999 12:50pm Anyone ever had humuhumunukunukuapua'a? |
| eris | posted 19-Jul-1999 1:49pm ...also yellowtail, shark, ono, pompano, and as long as we're including shellfish - scallops, crab, lobster, clams, oysters, sea urchin (roe) and octopus. |

| jonathan | posted 19-Jul-1999 6:24pm Bass, yellow perch, sunfish, sea bass, dory, red snapper, etc. Mussels aren't fish, they generally come under the "shellfish" category along with clams, oysters, scallops, lobsters, Morton Bay bugs, crabs, and all sorts of other stuff that's tough to get into but yummy on the inside. |
| mandy | posted 19-Jul-1999 7:03pm they...fish lips and butt-holes. |
| fooyun | posted 19-Jul-1999 8:00pm I love swordfish, wish I could eat that again. I like catfish too, those sandy bottom feeders. |
| jaff | posted 20-Jul-1999 4:33am i'll only eat processed fish besides tuna and mackerel...and the seafood i enjoy doesn't fall under the category of "fish" |
| jaff | posted 20-Jul-1999 4:34am Twisterma'am... great movie!! ;) |
| supplicant | posted 21-Jul-1999 2:33am And what was the movie? Sounds familiar but I don't recall anything... I've had quite a few different types of fish, but I don't particularly like fish and so don't know much about what I would have eaten :) |
| lelle | posted 21-Jul-1999 11:33am All of the above plus several others (marlin, snapper, shark, tilapia, barracuda, bass, octopus, perch, more...) and many kinds of shellfish. |
| bill | posted 21-Jul-1999 12:20pm Anyone ever eat Dolphin? Melville said it's tasty... |
| daver | posted 21-Jul-1999 12:56pm **bill: The fish or the mammal? |
| bill | posted 21-Jul-1999 4:32pm The mammal type, not dolphinfish. Porpoises are closely related to whales (biologist may actually classify them as whales). Moby dick has a lot of whale details in it. There's a chapter about dolphins (I think it's a whole chapter), in it he mentions that they are tasty. It's possible that all of us have eaten some doplhin inside of tuna cans. Dolphin tend to hang out about schools of tuna. Tuna fisherman will often use a dolphin pod as an indicator of tuna below... |

| Kristal_Rose | posted 25-Jul-1999 5:36am When I was travelling through Jenner, CA (Russian River) on bike, living in an 1880's dairy barn turned antique store by the resident polish ww2 camper who carved redwoods from the hillside, we often feasted on abalone from down the hill that i would cook over the woodstove. Shark makes great kabobs with pineapple, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, bellpeppers. Catfish skittles in coca-cola, OJ, dates & cajun seasonings well. (x2) a: hoped that whats this was about. jody: shcrod, must be the reverse of pike. or a piece of cod? since you bring it up. nothing personal. |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 25-Jul-1999 10:54am does this mean something clever i'm missing? |
| Renee | posted 26-Jul-1999 2:52am i had abalone once,it was very good. i know thats not fish but neither are some of the other choices. |

| Kristal_Rose | posted 7-Aug-1999 5:36am Just for fun: I've heard when the conquistadores were rummaging South America, they found an aquatic pachyderm, the 'capybara', which they immediately put on the zoological roster as a fish; The preferred fish for Good Friday suppers. |
