And the correct answer is:
The Rover Boys (1899)
The Bobbsey Twins (1904)
Tom Swift (1910)
The Hardy Boys (1927)
Nancy Drew (1930)
I'll be honest, I never even heard of the Rover Boys until I came across the article on the Stratemeyer Syndicate on wikipedia. And Tom Swift is just a vague foggy memory, but when I was a lad my brother had a large collection of Hardy Boys books and I read all of them. I also read some Bobbsey Twins books as well. Of course Nancy Drew is probably the most famous and beloved of the lot, although I've never actually read any of the books. |

I know the first Tom Swift book came out in 1909, all the rest are a guess. I read all except the Rover Boys as a kid. |

Ah! I got the Bobbsey Twins and Tom Swift reversed. Pretty close. |

Guessed...never heard of the The Rover Boys before. |

I read all the Bobbsey Twins, Nancy Drew, and most of the Hardy Boys. I'm 61, so these are my vintage, plus I was a voracious reader and still read a lot.
I think the order is Tom Swift, Rover Boys, Bobbsey Twins, Nancy Drew, and then the Hardy Boys? |

Swift, Rover, Bobbsey, Hardy, Nancy? |
romkey | | posted 22-Nov-2006 5:54pm |
I'm guessing The Rover Boys, The Bobbsey Twins, Tom Swift, Nancy Drew, and The Hardy Boys
I'm putting The Rover Boys eldest because I've never heard of them before |
| Biggles | | posted 22-Nov-2006 7:39pm |
I haven't heard of most of them. I've never read any of them. |

The Rover Boys
Tom Swift
The Bobbsey Twins
The Hardy Boys
Nancy Drew |

Have you seen , or do you remember the movie Nancy Drew Mysteries and the Hardy Boys? |

I have no idea. |

I haven't seen, nor was I aware there was a movie. I do recall TV shows from the late seventies with Shaun Cassidy and Parker Stevenson as the Hardy Boys and Pamela Sue Martin as Nancy Drew. Although I never watched it.
I just did a hunt on a film site, and apparently there was a series of four Nancy Drew films made in 1938 and 1939. There's no record of any Hardy Boys films.
I think you're probably recalling the TV show. |

Oh yes it is our turn tomorrow and I am going over to the assisted living center and help serve the meals, and I eat dinner with the seniors which I love doing. I looked up Nancy Drew on the web and I found this : http://www.hometheaterinfo.com/hardy_boys_nancy_dr... and this was back in the 1970's and it was my favorite girl detective and here is more on Nancy Drew : http://www.nancydrewsleuth.com/asknancy.html |
