| gazelda1 | posted 7-Nov-2006 4:06pm Turn it in |
| Enheduanna | posted 7-Nov-2006 4:25pm I'm not sure. Either leave it or turn it in to the cops. That kind of money would probably be followed by people looking for it. |
| Amanda | posted 7-Nov-2006 4:58pm I'd look around to see if anyone was watching, then I'd pick it up and walk away. If I later heard something about it on the news or something, I'd probably turn it in. But, I'd want a finder's fee. |
| RGirl | posted 7-Nov-2006 5:20pm Turn it in because it could be marked or something. Maybe they'll give me some or no one will claim it. |
| Maarten | posted 7-Nov-2006 5:35pm I would keep it as there is no way that this is 'honest' money. So I am not robbing someone who saved this.
I would wait a long time though before spending it. |
| Zang | posted 7-Nov-2006 5:43pm I'd be nervous as crap. Try to look casual. Take it home. Check carefully for any identifying information. If I could figure out who it belonged to I would return it. I'm guessing that isn't the case here. I'd find a good secure hiding spot for it. Then I would try to figure out a safe way to check out the cash to make sure that it isn't counterfeit or marked bills or whatever. Assuming I could spend the money freely without getting nailed, I'd probably make the occasional deposits into my bank account for $500-$1000 (maybe once a month). I don't know. I'd be worried about drawing attention to myself by doing something too legitimate like dumping it in the bank, buying real estate etc. I think I might get a safety deposit box at the bank and put it in there. Or maybe open an account in the Cayman Islands or something. It would kind of be a drag to have all that money and not be able to spend it freely, but I think I would make do. |
| Iseult | posted 7-Nov-2006 7:58pm Pick it up.
Even if it's in dollors. |
| Biggles | posted 7-Nov-2006 8:35pm Leave it where it was and call the police - probably not a good idea to disturb it. |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 7-Nov-2006 9:24pm I would dance and throw the money around like a mad woman and party party all night long, you can come and join me ok? |

| JessicaWoman99 | posted 7-Nov-2006 9:28pm Just pick up the money and stash it in my bra |
| Enheduanna | (reply to JessicaWoman99) posted 7-Nov-2006 9:50pm Or something that I would equally want to avoid. |
| LJD | posted 8-Nov-2006 2:28am If there isn't any information regarding the owner in the briefcase, I'd turn it into the nearest police station. |
| ausfox | posted 8-Nov-2006 6:07am Other - hang around waiting for candid camera to show up. |

| longhaultrucker | posted 16-Nov-2006 9:06pm Ask my fellow officers to do the "eye test" to make sure i was not on drugs |
| LindaH | posted 16-Nov-2006 11:47pm I'd keep it and wait until I saw an ad or some other desparate attempt to get it back. I'm sure if it was some retiree's legitimate money, they would at least put out an ad that they lost a briefcase. People tend to do that when they lose legitimate money. So I would wait, and wait, and wait.....
If no one seemed to make any sort of attempt to find it, I'd guess it was drug money, or counterfiet or something. In that case, see Zang's answer. I have had experience finding lost property before. If no one claims it, the finder does not get to keep it. Since they offer no incentive for doing the right thing and turning in lost property by giving claim to the person who found it, it seems only fair to bypass that mess and keep it yourself. |

| kelsey_153 | posted 24-Feb-2007 11:58pm I'd probably take a bit of money out of it and then the rest goes to the cops! |
