I have gotten sick from a flu shot, which is why I dont get anymore. I figure why take a shot to be healty, when the shot makes me sick. No sense in that.

Never have... I may someday, but no plans. I don't think I'm in the group of people they recommend get them, per se. I figure someone else may need it more than me. But, when I'm 70, if I make it that far, I may start getting the flu shot.

No, I have never gotten a flu shot and don't plan on getting one. I really just can't bring myself to do it. My fear is that it will make me sick.

I haven't gotten a flu shot in years. I learned the hard way that if I get a flu shot, I always get the flu. If I don't get one, I don't get the flu. Strange, but true.

I would never get the flu shot. I don't care WHAT the doctor tells me.

I generally avoid medical attention as much as possible. One of my friends got a flu shot once and immediately came down with flu. That was enough to put me off. I understand that happens a lot more than they're willing to admit.

I get flu shots every year because I'm in a high risk group (serious asthmatic). I have never gotten ill from a flu shot.

There's never been any need for me to get a flu shot; I'm healthy and relatively young.

Yes, I've had flu shots in the past as well as this year. I've never become sick because of one.

Still haven't decided if I'm getting the flu shot this year for the kids. I don't have a problem with getting one for Claire. I'm undecided about James as the flu shot still contains thermerisol. I have no idea what caused James's speech disorder and I'm wary of giving him this jab if the thermerisol had any effect. Some good news, though, is that James has a new diagnosis. He is now considered to have an expressive language disorder. The elements he was displaying of apraxia have gone. He's now talking in sentences although his sentence structure is unusual at times and he's still difficult to understand. This is a huge improvement over where he was before the summer.

No, I have never gotten the flu shot and I don't plan on getting one. I know they aren't supposed to make you sick but two years in a row husband got the shot and got sick both times. I didn't get one and I didn't get sick... but - I rarely get sick which is why I don't even consider getting the shot. The evil stepmother always got them with my dad. They got really sick anyway every flu season * rolls eyes *

Flu shots are not an option. The military gives them to us every year. I have yet to get 'sick' from one.

Yes, so I don`t get them anymore and I never seem to get sick. Maybe a little cough here and there but that`s about it.

From what I can see here it's 50-50.
Two winters ago both my boys got the flu and I have never seen them sicker than at that time. I eventually got it, too, but didn't seem to be as severe. Plus, who would look after them, so I could not get too sick. I truly wondered if they would pull through. They were both in my bed and I was in a chair nearby. Days and days went by and they didn't have enough energy to even want to watch TV or speak or anything. Well, we eventually all got better but I still don't know what to do about the flu shot...Last year I didn't get it for us and never have. But if they ever get that sick again from something that was possible preventable, well, I'd then feel really bad. I'm afraid to get sick from the shot. My doctor says it isn't possible, but there just seem to be too many coincidences.

No, unless your immune system is depressed or you are allergic to eggs...you really shouldn't get sick, but an on coming cold can weaken your immune system just enough to have a reaction.

It seems that most people here haven't gotten a flu shot. I have been sick more times in the past year that I have in my entire life and I was considering getting a flu shot although I have never had one before. I have decided against it based on this survey. Thanks for your input.

I have gotten my flu shot last year and it did not make me sick, and I have yet to get my flu shot this year and with the shortage here in Colorado high risk people only are getting flu shots before I do, seems a vaccine shortage every year

Hi Kitti a real good survey, and out here it takes some time before we get our flu shots perhaps in December this year and the way things are looking right now and the shortage of vaccine

Hello to you!! I hope you stay well this season. I am fortunately feeling better. It did take a trip to the doctor and the threat of putting me in hospital and a lethal dose of antibiotics to get here but I am grateful to be doing better.

This reminds me of something I read in the Little House books. I don't remember what they had but something was going through the area & the family lived in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. The kids got sick, Pa got sick, Ma finally got sick & they were all so sick they were delirious & couldn't care for themselves. They all would have died there alone if it weren't for a doctor who discovered what was going on & decided to go out in that area to check at the various cabins scattered here & there & found them. That would be so scary.

I didn't want to take them to the hospital because I was pretty sure they wouldn't do much different for them than I was doing. I'm always afraid of picking up something worse in the hospital like a flesh-eating bacteria or something.

I have never had a vaccine against influenza but I hope to get one this year - I am entitled to one because I am a front-line health worker. I believe that it can only be a good thing to get one, even if it doesn't protect me against every possible strain that is out there.

It is a scam...it weakens the immune system. It may work for senior citizens for a few years, ut what happens is the shots are loaded with heavy metals, aluminum being one of them and may be a contributing factor in alzheimers disease. This has been proven. I strongly recommend avoid them at all costs and strengthen the immune system with more natural means.
