If you could live any where, even a made up place, where and what would it be like?

Please, take some time to use your imagination and tell us where you would like to live. This place can be real or made up.
What is your house like?
What are the people like there?
What is the weather like?
And I'm sure you can add more that that..........

Someplace where involuntary sensory overload is absolutely unheard of.

The house would be a small older cottage, not more than two small bedrooms, if that. Hardwood floors; wood wall paneling; an old-fashioned wood front porch with a porch swing; a white picket fence. A backyard facing south with room to plant a garden; maybe a small wood deck in back also. An electric range, old-fashioned bathtub; at least one walk-in closet. The house would be on a stairway-street, at least halfway up a steep hill. The stairs would have old-fashioned cottages on each side of the stairs -- no modern condos -- and preferably the street would be a double-stairway like the one I still miss in Los Angeles' Silverlake neighborhood, the very real stairway called Loma Vista Place. What I mean by a double stairway is that the stairs go all the way up one side of a steep hill, then continue down the other side. The people ideally would be gay guys, superliberal types, and if these people have any kids they'd be well-behaved; same with their dogs -- well-trained. It'd be in San Francisco still as the weather is more to my liking here than it is in L.A. Vulcan Stairway is my actual favorite street in SF in reality -- it is in the upper Market area, near Twin Peaks. I like being in an area where cars and motorcycles can't park in front of the houses and cats can be indoor-outdoor.

I don't have to make anywhere up. I would live in Florence, Italy. The culture, the food, it's heaven.

My house would be about 3,000 sq. ft....a country type home with a wrap around porch, single level, a big room for family and friend gatherings, at least a couple of guest rooms.

The people would all be peace loving, law abiding, Christian, people of my race, culture, and language.

The weather would have the four seasons....snowing only lightly during the winter....summer would have low heat

I would love to live in the mountains, or a top a knoll in a meadow

There is a show called the L Word. It's basically lesbians Sex In the City. I forgot where they are but I'd like to live there with that setting. City, cultural, shops, little restaraunts, a hot bed for gay women to just live their lives. It would make things so much easier. Reminds me a little of the Central West End in St. Louis.

That doesn't mean I am not happy where I am now. I have also always wanted to live in the country in a quaint little old house with animals. We are getting goats eventually & maybe chickens.

I would have a 5,000 sq. ft. log cabin with a deep wraparound porch and an open floor plan. Two or three story, and the halls and walkways are open so you can see down below... exposed rough-hewn beams, hardwood heated floors, five bedrooms, three baths with deep tubs, an exercise room, a craft room, and a game room with a pool table, air hockey table, and a foosball table. And a big screen in the corner with a kegerator and casual furniture. Of course, there is a small custom bar. The living room would have these gorgeous red leather couches I saw at our county fair once: they had wild horses imprinted into the leather. Huge windows to overlook the lawn, flowers, and meadows.
Out back there are stables that house beautiful gaited horses and a huge covered riding arena where I host horse shows. There is a small, separate house where my grandpa lives. Next to that little house is a large woodshop with every tool a person might want, and all the hardwoods to work with. Kitties come to rub against my legs and ask for attention. All this is at the foot of gorgeous mountains with healthy evergreens and wild animals. Half a mile away from my front door, across the wildflower meadow, is a river that has large rainbow trout year around. The air smells of flowers, evergreens, wood, and horses. It's never above 90 degrees, and never below 40. Mosquitos do not exist. I would drive my F-350 or Mustang fifteen miles to a city of 75,000 friendly people, and all the shopping, groceries, and goods you might want or need. Cars run on our garbage and sunlight, and a major crime is almost eradicated. Rapists, child molesters, murderers are sent to a large semi-tropical island where they can fend for themselves, and supplies are dropped by plane once a month. People respect each other and screamed insults are almost never heard. All my favorite people live within a two-hour drive. Life is good.

If the follow the side pass high up the mountains of Karcelle all the way round, past the waterfall and oak forest, you will see four wind turbines. In the centre, a log cabin protrudes gracefully, its roof covered with a soft icing covering of snow, and a black motorcycle leaning against one side. Enter through the scarlet door to find yourself in a majestic two roomed cottage, a roaring fire melting the frost in your hair and a grand bookcase covering one wall of the cottage, full of modern titles. There are more books piled beneath the lone, single bed propped lazily on one side, and it is clear that many would find the cottage much more appealing if someone had bothered to tidy up the mess on the floor, and tidy away the pots drying in the beautiful marble kitchen area. There is a computer, a stereo, and the lack of television does not intrude upon the otherwise modern furnishings. In the second room, a bathroom, there is no bath; only a shower, toilet, and sink. There is no garden, and no other civilisation can be found if one looks through the bay window to the side of the bed. The cabin is entirely isolated.

It would be a tropical island. I'd have a nice house, but not to big. The few people on the island would be nice, friendly people who work for me. The weather would be perfect year round.

I like your answer. In SF there is a neighborhood to the south of downtown called Bernal Hts. that I've heard has more gay women than any other neighborhood. It has lots of old, smaller houses and a huge hillwide garage sale each year. Lots of friendly women there, some raising kids. The hill has all KINDS of people, of course, but if you ever visit San Francisco maybe you'd like to check the area out to see what kind of vibes you get re other gay women. It is said that when the very gay, very well-known Castro neighborhood got to be too overwhelmingly overrun with gay males, the lesbians moved over the hill to the quieter, less bar-dominated scene that is Bernal Hts. with its big hilly summit park. (People USED to have goats and chickens there many years ago... ) Lucky you - getting to have animals like that.

I would live next door to my friend Julie. It doesn't much matter where we live, as long as we're next door to each other. Although if my house happened to be designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, that wouldn't suck.

It would be exactly like Vancouver, only instead of living in a crappy one bedroom apartment in Chinatown, I would live in a big old house with a big yard with a Japanese garden and a pool and it would be about a mile southeast of here. Oh yeah and there would be servants. * grin *

I would want to live on a large island that is not apart of any country so I wouldn't have to pay taxes. But the island would still be small enough that no one would bother me. There would be lots of different type of trees on this island and I would have my 8250sq foot home on this island. ( I even have the plans made up!...ahh dreams!!) The house is a three floor no basement home...with a three car garage, 4 bathrooms, a green house attached on the left back side, 4 bedrooms, 2 bars, a swimming pool and a hot tub on the third floor, along with a gym, and a pond on the main floor that's around the stairs and can be seen from the third and second floor. And there would be no winter on this island... it would be warm but not hot all the time...with the odd chilly day...and the odd hot day.

The climate. The pretty old houses. The fact that all European countries are nearby. The comedy TV.

Uhm... not the people.

Actually, Brits are cool. I haven't really had any problems with anybody British one way or another.

I like the rain and I don't really think that there is any continential extreme experienced in England. I ABSOLUTELY HATE hot or cold weather. I spend much time doging how people must've been insane to originally settle in Souther Ontario because weather here is nasty. But then again, whole North America is much more unstable weather-wise than Europe.

I'd live in a two-bedroom house in the middle of nowhere Amarillo, Texas. A white house with front windows and a comfy couch where, after dinner and I put the ten-month old baby to bed, my sweaty, tired farm-boy boyfriend/husband would lay down and put his head on my lap, and we could watch TV in silence. The song Amarillo Sky by Jason Aldean describes it, mostly.

By the way, I like the way this survey inspires abstract thought and a wide imagination.

I would like in a place where people love and respect each other, irregardless of race, gender or sexual orientation. There is no crime and no one lacks the basics of life such as food, clothing, shelter or health care. The schools are well-funded with well-qualified teachers and no overcrowded classrooms. While I have no desire to try and control the weather, there are precautions in place to prevent flooding and damage from severe storms.
