I prefer to watch movies at home. That way I can yell as loud as I want "What are you doing?..Don't go in there!" Without someone telling me to "Shhh!".

Rentals, with PPV coming a close second.

Buying dvds is where most my money goes. There is some more in rentals using Netflix.

Rentals from Netflix. The nearest theater is a good twenty miles, one way, from where I live and the only video store we have is Blockbuster. I refuse to rent from them. We have to pay for PPV movies, but I seldom use the feature. We get digital cable plus HBO for free because my roommate works for Comcast.

I'd venture about 85% goes to rentals and 15% goes to the cinemas. We're not talking about great gobs of cash. I might spend $60 in a year.

I go to a movie with four of my former neighbors once a month. I don't rent, or have pay-per-view. I do buy, on occasion, $1 old fashioned movies on DVD's at the dollar store.

Now they are going to go towards buying DVDs, just a few favorites that I used to have on videotapes. I never rent films; do not go to movies (maybe once in several years someone will drag me to one kicking and screaming); do not have a TV and consider cable, pay-per-view, etc. prices nowhere near worth it.

Rentals. At the theatre, most of my movie dollars go to the cost of the ticket to get in--I'm one of those people who sneaks in cans of pop and snacks. I can't afford the food from the concession stand.

Cinema - but I don't go very often. I went more frequently (perhaps once every month or two) when I was at university, but I haven't been at all in my current city.

I very occasionally buy DVDs, but never for the RRP.

I have never gone for pay-per-view or extra cable channels, and the only time that I have rented DVDs, it was as part of a free trial.

I buy most of my movies from a dealer at a flea market. I buy DVD's if it's a movie I really like but if I've never seen it I get the cheap VHS first.

Since we signed up for Netflix, probably rentals... though we do spend money on the extra cable (satellite, actually) channels that we rarely watch. We hardly ever go out to the movies anymore, mostly because the movie theater audiences really tend to suck.

That's a real plus if you're a movie lover and live close enough to a theater to make it worth your while. However, it's a good forty mile round trip to go to the theater and there are few movies out there that I willing to make that kind of trip. For me, Netflix is the perfect solution.

We own a lot of DVD's, especially children's ones. There are only two English language TV channels (for free) in Hong Kong and they pretty much suck. There is no programming on during the day (I'm not kidding...a test signal one channel and weird "educational" tv in Cantonese on the other channel) not that I sit at home and watch TV during the day. As for non-kid DVD's, we buy a lot of TV series: Nip/Tuck, 24, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, House, Desperate Housewives, etc.

yeah I'm about to move to the middle of nowhere and I'll be subscribing to Netflix then. I used to be a member but I was making some financial cuts and that was one thing I let go. I'll be a million miles from a good theater if I get approved for my new home. I do enjoy the theater even though I don't get to see everything I want in this small town.

I almost never buy DVDs. Never rent. Never get pay-per-view (most of it is wrestling (which I don't watch) and porn (which I can get for free from the internet)). I go to movie theaters once in a while. I mooch off of my parents satelite.

I'll go with movie theaters.

I closed on my house Oct 3rd!! I was in South Carolina for about 10 days and was very sick. I finally recovered only to go up to Ohio to be with my dad who has been in and out of the hospital 2x in the last month. I am helping him around the house for the next 3 weeks and then it's back home to get my house in order. It has been crazy!!

I don't spend money on movies. I watch what is free on television or when we visit friends who have them.

Or do you mean what percentage goes to the actors, production crew, advertising, theaters, etc?
