| paulyw | posted 17-Aug-2006 8:16am I do, but I always have the mechanic do it. |
| bill | posted 17-Aug-2006 8:17am Not specifically, but I'm sure I could figure it out, if I chose to do so. I've changed the oil in the ATV, and various mowers. I prefer to let the garage do it, I get it done with some other regular maintenance (switching winter/summer tires). It's cheap, so... |
| FordGuy | posted 17-Aug-2006 8:51am Engine oil? Transmission oil? Transfer case oil? Differential oil? Popcorn oil? Caster oil? What freakin oil? |
| judgescratch | posted 17-Aug-2006 9:00am I've never changed it on my present vehicle. I did on my previous one, though. I could probably figure it out, but I just haven't. |
| Amanda | posted 17-Aug-2006 9:33am I know how to get to the Quick Lube. Does that count? |
| mve17 | posted 17-Aug-2006 10:46am In a vehicle or.. my oil. |
| Zang | posted 17-Aug-2006 10:46am I used to work at gas stations when I was a lad. One of them had mechanics and I used to do some of the basic stuff like oil changes, tires off and on the rims...at all of them I would do really basic stuff like replacing fuses, bulbs, headlamps, wiper blades, batteries...
I haven't owned a car for nearly 25 years. |
| Biggles | posted 17-Aug-2006 1:17pm I don't run on oil |
| BionicLips | posted 17-Aug-2006 1:24pm Yes, but I don't do it. Too much hassle trying to get to the filter. |
| gazelda1 | posted 17-Aug-2006 1:28pm yes |
| Scott | posted 17-Aug-2006 1:53pm Yes, and if you're a female, I'll gladly check your oil. |
| LJD | posted 17-Aug-2006 3:09pm No...I take my car to Jiffy Lube. |
| romkey | posted 17-Aug-2006 3:29pm I know how to. It's not at all complicated. It's also not worth my time to do it myself. |
| ultamate | posted 17-Aug-2006 5:36pm yes and I need to do it soon |
| ausfox | posted 17-Aug-2006 5:45pm Nope |
| RGirl | posted 17-Aug-2006 5:58pm Absolutey.................NOT! |
| moonstone | posted 17-Aug-2006 6:34pm Yes. I take it to the place and they do it...I sit in the car with Ethan, they give him a sucker and we wait. That's how I change my oil. |
| Enigma | posted 17-Aug-2006 8:00pm Yes, it's one of those things a gal should know. |
| Amanda | (reply to moonstone) posted 17-Aug-2006 8:45pm That's how I do it, too. |
| Melf | posted 18-Aug-2006 2:11am Nope. |
| ROCKMAN | posted 18-Aug-2006 6:08am Yes, of course I do. |
| moonstone | (reply to Amanda) posted 18-Aug-2006 9:26am |
| docgbrown | posted 18-Aug-2006 1:09pm Yup. Just did again two weeks ago. |
| docgbrown | (reply to FordGuy) posted 18-Aug-2006 1:13pm The inference would be the "engine oil" you listed. All other lubricant locations may well require explanation to non-gearheads. |
| Enheduanna | posted 18-Aug-2006 5:17pm Yes: ask my SO to take the car to the shop for its usual check/oil-change.
OK, OK, I picked "no." I could figure it out, with internet help, in a pinch, though. |
| cloudhugger | posted 19-Aug-2006 1:45am Yes, but I am at a wonderful part of my life when I can pay someone else to do it. I have had enough of dirtygrimy greasy jobs. I'm over it. |
| kirst | posted 19-Aug-2006 2:48am Yes, but I haven't done this in at least 10 years. I used to change the oil in my Jeep when I lived in Florida. I was a poor teacher at the time! |
| jettles | posted 19-Aug-2006 2:38pm yes i could but i don't |
| cabinfever | posted 20-Aug-2006 5:55pm I think so.... but with this very new car, it's hard to tell. I could probably drain the oil, and put new in, but the oil filter is hidden and under another gauge... and for only $19 I'll let the dealership do it.
On my older cars, I could, and did occasionally. |
| cabinfever | (reply to Scott) posted 20-Aug-2006 5:58pm > Yes, and if you're a female, I'll gladly

| gambler | posted 20-Aug-2006 10:01pm Yes........ but I would still go to a garage.... "I cant be asked" < english slang for couldnt be bothered |
| Jody | posted 28-Aug-2006 2:56pm In my lawnmower? yes. In my car? no. |
| daddys_girl | posted 11-Oct-2006 8:55pm I think so... my dad showed me how before |
| meanfighter | posted 19-Oct-2006 11:32pm Yes, but I won't. I don't enjoy working on engines. |
| patarnone | posted 2-Dec-2006 6:18pm Yes, and I've both helped and done it solo many times. Started out in 1961 with my 1959 MG-A sports car. I've been so involved with all makes of cars doing so many things I've actually lost count. |
| autumnlight | posted 22-Dec-2006 5:51am I assume you mean in your car? If so, no. I don't drive. |
| filiasan | posted 4-Feb-2007 8:22pm My oil? I don't have a vehicle. I don't drive. I'm answering surveys under this category, out of spite. |
| Bluemoon02 | posted 5-Feb-2007 2:08am I change oils as a part time job, of of course i know how to do it..... in ten minutes or less..... |
| blondie20 | posted 18-Feb-2007 6:06pm No, I don't. |
| they | posted 26-Mar-2007 8:32am I'll say "I think so"
I've never done it, but I've watched it done all my life... and I've had it explained to me. I'm sure I could do it if I had to. The same goes for changing a tire. |
