| Enheduanna | posted 10-Aug-2006 2:21am It depends. If the man is an athlete swimming in a race, I have no problem with it, although I've noticed that those kinds of suits are less common these days among racers. If the guy is wearing it because he's skeevy and just thinks it looks hot, I am less likely to like it. |
| clare | posted 10-Aug-2006 2:57am I've never seen a man wear a Speedo in person, only in magazine ads. If a man is morbidly obese, it might be gross to see, but if the man if fit and trim, he would probably look okay. |
| ausfox | posted 10-Aug-2006 4:37am Indifferent. Whatever. |

| bill | posted 10-Aug-2006 6:37am I feel... it makes me feel... all warm inside?
The best is when French Canadian guys drive down from the North, then run out, over yards of rocks, some sharp, across the Maine beaches. They dive into the water, the frigid Maine water, that few Americans are willing to even stick their pinky toe in. And, to top it off, they usually wear Speedos®. I mean, what could be better than that? |
| Biggles | posted 10-Aug-2006 7:54am I don't think they look very good. |
| romkey | posted 10-Aug-2006 8:36am It really depends on the guy. |
| Tommyturtle40 | posted 10-Aug-2006 8:48am I think that it is great for men to wear speedos, men love looking women when they wear tight clothes, so us men might as well wear tight clothes that show our private parts. |
| Enigma | posted 10-Aug-2006 12:20pm I personally think they are GROSSSSSS in a funny way. Unless of course the guy is a swimmer. |
| LJD | posted 10-Aug-2006 2:15pm Personally, I like to see less exposed. I like to see a man in a boxer trunk type of bathing suit, leave more to the imagination...so to speak. I feel the bathing suits for men and woman today are way over the edge. |
| Zang | posted 10-Aug-2006 2:37pm I feel that men should be able to wear whatever type of swimsuit they like. I can't honestly say that I've ever seen a man in a swimsuit and had much of an opinion about it. No...just a moment. I think it was in a film, probably a comedy. I know it wasn't in real life. I saw a man wearing a swimsuit that exposed his entire ass. That was funny. I think it would look funny on any man. I'm thinking the guy in the film might have been Adam Sandler...Now I have to ask myself why a man in a swimsuit that exposes his ass is funny, where a woman in a swimsuit that exposes her ass wouldn't be funny. I don't know. I'm not much of an ass aficionado, but if I saw a woman with a nice ass in a suit like that, I'd probably think "Nice ass!" and not much else. If she had a scrawny little ass I'd probably wonder why she was showing it off...and not much else. Now I'm thinking the guy in the film might have been Rob Schneider... |
| Amanda | (reply to Zang) posted 10-Aug-2006 2:45pm That comment made me laugh. I always love to read your ramblings. |
| cerealkiller | posted 10-Aug-2006 2:58pm When I was a kid/teen I'd never wear one. Didn't want my dick bulging out. Now I go to nude beaches. |
| Zang | (reply to BionicLips) posted 10-Aug-2006 3:04pm Apparently I was wrong when I guessed in qualification that you were mark_b86ad AKA markb1986. He had a bit of an obsession around swimwear:
http://surveycentral.org/survey/16738.html http://surveycentral.org/survey/18230.html http://surveycentral.org/survey/24604.html He also had a bunch of posts in Forum about swimwear, swimming, Speedos etc. |
| Zang | (reply to Amanda) posted 10-Aug-2006 3:05pm ...and that was definitely rambling!
I have a tendency to do that when there's only one survey. |
| llamamama | posted 10-Aug-2006 4:28pm I think it's gross...
Especially when his fat rolls cover said swimsuit |
| Lovely | posted 10-Aug-2006 4:36pm *shivers* That's just NOT appealing to me... especially elderly men. *shivers again* |
| ultamate | posted 10-Aug-2006 10:47pm I have more of a problem with a man wearing a speedo were his big fat belly hangs over the waste band. As with the bulge I wouldn’t want to walk down the beach with my man wearing one ‘cause…eww! |
| RGirl | posted 11-Aug-2006 12:36am I think it's gross. I also don't like the revealing women's swinsuits either so I'm not saying this just because I'm not attracted to men. |
| cloudhugger | posted 11-Aug-2006 1:48am I am quietly amused.
Honestly, it may be embarrasing for them and they just are not aware of it yet. What's really funny is they think they are hot. |
| BionicLips | posted 11-Aug-2006 3:48am It doesn't bother me. Of course, some people look better in them than others. |
| icurok | posted 11-Aug-2006 5:53am My hatred for speedos burns like the fire of a thousand suns. |
| ASexyBabe | posted 11-Aug-2006 1:12pm I saw a man wearing a speedo while paddling a canoe called the speedo torpedo! |
| ASexyBabe | (reply to icurok) posted 11-Aug-2006 1:15pm What about drunk men in speedos paddling canoes? |

| docgbrown | posted 14-Aug-2006 11:05am While Speedo type swimsuits are the only kind to wear while swimming competitively, I prefer not to see them on the beach by hairy fat old men. That said I have them and wear them when I play water polo or am timed for a swim and wear trunks for all other water sports and lounging near the water. |
| louise1014 | posted 15-Aug-2006 11:13am I love them, but only if they have the body for it!! women wear bikinis that show their private parts and more if it is teensy-weensy, so why can't the really great looking men's bods show us what they have??? |
| beruka | posted 15-Aug-2006 10:20pm Some boys grow up not using swimsuits at all, like myself, where as girls and women wore suits. I don't recall a negative reaction to this situation. It seems things can go full circle from the 70's till now where as string bikinis are the norm and sagging board shorts are in. The feeling I found toward male nudity was so what. I do think speedos are silly looking anyway! |
| BionicLips | (reply to louise1014) posted 17-Aug-2006 2:42am > I love them, but only if they have the body for it!! women wear
> bikinis that show their private parts and more if it is teensy-weensy, > so why can't the really great looking men's bods show us what they > have??? I agree with you. I always thought it was strange that people had such a negative reaction to a guy wearing a speedo because it had a bulge but no one ever says anything about women's swimsuits having 2 bulges. |
| mve17 | posted 23-Aug-2006 7:20pm I feel like sending hate mail to Mr. Speedo |
| cabinfever | posted 19-Sep-2006 12:42am Don't like them.... and a lot of times they are disgusting. |
| WeekendWarrior | posted 24-Sep-2006 8:25pm I had a funny experience with a speedo. My girlfriend is from Spain and we live in a city. She planned a trip to the beach in an American resort in the carribean. When we arrive she went out and bought suits and towels. She got me a green speedo shopping while I napped. I have 34 waist and do work out. I laugh and then she did too in a sweet way. She went topless on the beach so I didn't feel silly until we rented a sail boat. We were on a boat with a group of teenagers and an older couple for two hours almost. I got over myself though...:> |
| autumnlight | posted 28-Sep-2006 6:22pm Well it isn't attractive |
| pondbar | posted 8-Oct-2006 12:29pm It's ok. I frequent a clothing optional beach, so it really doesn't matter to me. People should feel free to wear whatever they feel comfortable in. You can't please everyone no matter what you do, so "to thine own self be true"! |
| avacado | posted 15-Oct-2006 12:07am I think it is funny how many here women have the same opinion. All speedo wearers are not obese, so it is just a response to following fashion trends, otherwise it implies women just don't like men or are in some way threatened. |
| bluethegrappler | posted 27-Aug-2007 5:34pm I wear them sometimes. They are comfortable. I think guys should feel free to wear one if they want to. |
| rubylillysue | posted 4-Nov-2007 6:16am depends on the man |
| dr_LUV | posted 12-Jul-2008 9:57pm I wear them for 6 am laps at the ymca when only other swimmers see them. It's all adults there so there is really indifference. The women were the unattractive one piece athletic wear. There aren't much hang ups here because all men look the same after 30 minutes in the pool and it just makes more sense. It's also a group of regulars. It is evident older women are more comfortable with this style to me as they are more social in this setting than other women. |
| krp5 | posted 6-Oct-2008 4:46pm Women wear swimwear next to their genitalia; often you can see their nipples and labia. What is the aversion to the male body? |
| superhero | posted 19-Dec-2008 7:04pm I think its a personal choice any man that wears one good for him to feel that confortable with himself board shorts are boring no one should be put down for it ,and as far as being gross they are not ,dont like dont look ! |
| EnduranceSwimmer | posted 21-Dec-2008 1:58am "Speedos" are the most comfortable suits for guys to wear swimming. I'm in good shape and have no plans to stop wearing them. But, I have to agree if you are not at an adult beach, exercising a little modesty when walking around is a good thing. The sight of fat, hairy men in speedos is offensive...and hence the stigma. |
| superhero | (reply to EnduranceSwimmer) posted 21-Dec-2008 1:33pm very well written and they are awesome suits |
| kc9lfd | posted 15-Mar-2009 11:30am Personally it doesn't matter to me. I really don't care what people like to wear. But some thoughts come to mind.
I'm not skinny, but I choose to wear speedos. Actually you would consider me fat. Why? Because I really don't like the feeling of 40lbs shorts after coming out of a pool. They dry fast. And I normally wear briefs as underwear. I don't have a ginormous package, but I really don't care what people think of it. I'm fat, so people will assume I'm fat and have a small package, why bother hiding what people already know/assume? Trying to hide the fact only makes you look like your unhappy with yourself and you're trying to hide from yourself. Plus there are plenty of people who look bad in swim trunks anway, so what's the big diff? Society's values are more sexist than you could imagine, even for liberal people. Why can morbidly obese girls wear a bikini bottom? Like we want to see those cellulite rolls and wrinkles and oh god, I think I'm going to vomit. I may be fat but I don't have cellulight rolls and I fit my stature and don't think I look all that bad.. I'm well rounded. and a good ROFL at the speedo torpedo My name is Jamie, yes, I'm a guy, and I'm not afraid to wear speedos. If you don't like what you see, then don't look. If you DO like what you see, kudos to you. |
