| milktree | posted 1-Jul-1999 3:48pm critical, actually. My job wouldn't exist without the internet. |
| drdt | posted 1-Jul-1999 4:01pm I frequently have to get help from companies who offer support over the net, usually via web although occasionally in email. And of course my company's product is a webserver add-on, so without the internet we wouldn't have very many customers. |
| supplicant | posted 1-Jul-1999 4:20pm "Vital" "Useless" "I don't have a job" "Other"? Bleh. A single choice survey with a lack of options and the word "Neither" as an option with more than two other choices from an alias that has never been seen before afaik... Brian is that you? |
| jonathan | posted 1-Jul-1999 4:36pm I spend 90+% of my time at my computer either doing email or reading stuff on the web, so I'd say the internet is pretty mandatory. |
| mandy | posted 1-Jul-1999 5:04pm Not important at all. |
| bill | posted 1-Jul-1999 7:44pm I've decided to change my name to eBill. |
| jjg | posted 1-Jul-1999 9:04pm We don't have web access at work. We simply don't need it; though a web page could certainly do everything that I do and more. |
| Gamera | posted 1-Jul-1999 10:01pm I put my url and my email address in my advertising, but rarely does that information get used. I place my ads by emailing them to publications, but if I couldn't do that I'd send it by Trek 730 Net across town. |
| fooyun | posted 1-Jul-1999 10:14pm For my volunteering, it is vital. I work with a deaf kid, plus his teacher/interpreter is deaf also, and since I don't know that much American Sign Language, e-mail is integral to our communication. |
| anonymous | posted 1-Jul-1999 11:28pm I have two jobs; for one it's not important at all, and for one it's essential. |
| anonymous | posted 2-Jul-1999 12:14am I work for UNISYS, I test servers and communications within UNISYS is via email and all procedure documents are on a local Web. |
| Stalin | posted 2-Jul-1999 2:36am my doges wouldn't get nearly as much business as they do without the internet. |
| Pooh_Bear | posted 2-Jul-1999 9:37am I develop intranet sites, so the Internet is vital to me. |
| cpierson | posted 2-Jul-1999 9:58am We make online games. Kinda hard to do that with two tin cans and a string. :) |
| seven | posted 3-Jul-1999 1:24am I could do all my job functions without it. Some much slower though - so by that rationale, its important. |
| jzp | posted 3-Jul-1999 6:14am hrm. when you work 'in the internet' should 'the opportunity to use the internet' be taken to mean chunks of the network other than ones own? regardless, if i cant get somewhere, there's an outage and therefore an issue. end result: very important. |
| copprtop | posted 4-Jul-1999 12:04am I'm hoping to find a permanent job doing web production/design, but I also like to take a little mental break now and again to check email or get on irc. If the job is really boring and slow, then the opportunity to do those things becomes very important. If the job keeps me busy, it's not such a big deal. I do have DSL service at homme, after all. :) |
| SoccerBum | posted 4-Jul-1999 2:59am i only have to pay 5$ a year for unlimited access cause my parents get a deal from the school divisions server. (they're teachers) |
| msgman | posted 4-Jul-1999 8:42am About as important as it can be, given that I work for an ISP |
| magbast | posted 4-Jul-1999 11:05am copprtop...any ideas on how could i could design from home?...with no professional background...lol...know anybody that will give me a shot? |
| doom | posted 6-Jul-1999 11:39am I would not have this job without it. I work for an ISP. |
| eris | posted 6-Jul-1999 5:36pm The Q1 is a bit of a giveaway, don't you think? |
| dpolicar | posted 9-Jul-1999 9:43pm Email - very. Everything else - not. |
| RGirl | posted 27-Mar-2006 1:01am I do stuff on ebay. |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 7-Sep-2007 3:13am Not very important, but we don't have internet access. It's not a necessary part of our job. We use dumb terminals to do our surveys on. |
