| steve | posted 17-Feb-1998 6:02pm I said "my real personality", with the obvious caveat that my real personality doesn't have a backspace, and does have expression. |
| bill | posted 17-Feb-1998 6:05pm When I was in high school, and a little on college I did try the impersonation thing - I tried being a woman a few times, it was interesting. In the end, it's just easier to be myself, so I do that. I think I do idealize myself on-line though. When typing, I can think more about stuff before I "speak" and so I come off a little better than I do in person. |
| KenShingo | posted 17-Feb-1998 6:19pm well, it's basically what I think, y'know... |
| hunter | posted 17-Feb-1998 8:54pm I used to think that I came off much more sage online than I am in real life, but then I realized that I often seem to fool people in real life, too. |
| Twanger | posted 17-Feb-1998 10:12pm My real personality with a little more sass and outspokeness |
| RacerX | posted 18-Feb-1998 12:29am I'm kind of a freak, but not as much as I'd like to believe... I've only got a few body piercings... (Any guesses where??) |
| Jaime | posted 18-Feb-1998 2:55am My real personality. If I pretend to be someone or to act as I'd like to be, I do it even in non-internet relations..., but this is not the case (or it's not conscious;). |
| gilly | posted 18-Feb-1998 1:16pm I'm a bit quieter on-line, perhaps, but when I do speak out I think I'm pretty much my usual self. I love experimenting with different side of myself at times, but I'm no good at pretending to be something I'm really not. |
| Paco | posted 19-Feb-1998 2:34am I don't have any personality :) |
| jcdino | posted 19-Feb-1998 11:10pm Depends on which online persona :) I like RPG's so some of them are considerably different, others are not. |
| Gamera | posted 19-Feb-1998 11:54pm I would get REALLLLY confused if Istarted spinning off alternate personalities. How would I ever remember to whom I claimed to be what? |
| romkey | posted 20-Feb-1998 2:02am well it's gotta be somewhere between 1 and 2 because it can't really just be 1 since I don't think anyone really is quite *that* self-aware |
| weth | posted 20-Feb-1998 5:57pm You put "personality" in the singular, as if we are consistent in our presentation to the outside world. |
| Artemis | posted 20-Feb-1998 7:49pm If I'm fooling around I'll pretend I'm someone else. |
| Jimmy | posted 22-Feb-1998 4:43am I like you all to know who I really am, considering that with not many others can I be completely honest. |
| Dahlia | posted 22-Feb-1998 8:56pm My persona on-line is the same as me off-line. There have been a few occasions in which I have been bored, and gone into a chat hub and played make-believe. It is fun for a bit, but then wears out real quick. And I always tell them the truth after, some get mad... but some are quite good about it. But in general.."I am what I am" |
| wiggsj | posted 24-Feb-1998 6:42pm I said no comment because a) my personality has too many facets to be restricted to activities on the net and b) I hadn't really thought about developing alternative personalities - hmmm - maybe that's why life is so dull..... Thanks! |
| Atzilut | posted 27-Feb-1998 1:47pm all of the above |
| elijahblue | posted 2-Mar-1998 8:27pm RacerX: I'd guess that you've had your brain pierced (many, many times...) |
| zoomie | posted 7-Mar-1998 9:36pm Of course this is my real personality. But the name is after an annoying cat we used to own, who died after 15 long years. I didn't like the cat, it didn't like me. |
| joe | posted 18-Mar-1998 12:36am basically myself, but more so |
| daver | posted 14-May-1998 8:31pm My poor neurons couldn't handle multiple personalities... |
| lelle | posted 15-May-1998 8:47am My online personalities reflect my real life personalities. |
| reality | posted 18-May-1998 4:45pm yes, I am like this in real life. I am slightly more vocal online, but the opinions represented are my own. and there are enough people here that know me (and vice versa) that I am not really anonymous anyways.. |
| phi | posted 18-Jun-1998 12:36am It's been years since I adopted any form of online persona -- it's a LOT of work, and if I'm going to do to that much effort to pretend to be something I want to be I'll usually just go to the effort of actually becoming whatever it is instead. Somewhere out there is a log of a rather famous impersonation incident which I am responsible for. |
| LawDog | posted 19-Jul-1998 3:46am The little guy that doesn't get out very much, this is definitly a double meaning. |
