If I needed the work and they'd have me, sure. I wouldn't wear the frilly little dress, though. |

I did work as a "chambermaid" in a motel/hotel. I worked 4 hours in the morning, while my children were in school. I had a couple men make passes, ask me out for a drink..I politely said no. My job died shortly after the motel/hotel manager made a pass at me. I was on my hands and knees cleaning the bottom of the shower when the manager came behind me, talking to me, and I turned around, and he had that "look", he had an undeniable "arousal" in his pants. I avoided eye contact, kept cleaning. Within a couple days, I was let go of my position...by his wife. Some of the other ladies told me some funny stories of their days while being a chambermaid....unbelievable...lol |

If I was in desperate need of a job. |

No because I am a klutzy sort and don't make beds well and I detest cleaning up after other people -- after myself is bad enough. |
Enheduanna | | posted 17-Jun-2006 12:45pm |
If it was the only job I could find, yes. As long as I got to wear one of those black-and-white maid outfits. |

I was a part time chambermaid once before and other than the money that sucked, I liked it. |

No I dont think so, not that it is demeaning... its just I am crap at that sort of thing....... and would look to do something else |

I don't know. I might if I couldn't find another job & it was the only thing available to me. That being said, it wouldn't be my job of choice. It's hard, dirty work. My mother has worked as a room cleaner in the past when I was a child & she hated it, but it was the only job she was qualified for at the time. |

Possibly. |

I did during high school in the summer. It wasn't any thing special so I didn't have to wear a uniform. I was a pretty good job. Grab your supplies when you get there & then off you go. I was pretty much on my own the whole day. |
cloudhugger | | posted 17-Jun-2006 10:09pm |
Would I ever? I almost did, I have no problem with that. I was in the Florida Keys and I almost took that job, along with washing pots and pans in a fancy restaurant.
would I take that job tomorrow? Maybe. If I needed a job and that was available. I wouldn't make a career of it tho. It wouldn't be a bad temporary job. |

Upscale hotel or hourly room rental hotel? |

Well... maybe... but no camera! |

Just any type of hotel. |

Will you wear mine for me, too? Or is that too much? |

Yes.
I'm sure it would be interesting work.
It would probably beat the hell I go through daily. |
| Cain | | posted 18-Jun-2006 11:44am |
Yes, I spent a summer doing this. It's not the best job in the world, but as long as you do a thorough job, you pretty much get left to your own devices and can daydream as you work. Or at least that's what I did.
I remember one of the other women I worked with (who was getting on a bit) came running through one day holding a used condom, telling me that those two blokes who stayed in the room overnight obviously weren't brothers and how men having sex together was disgusting. The fact she was holding their used condom didn't seem to bother her though. Silly old woman. |
cloudhugger | | (reply to romkey) posted 18-Jun-2006 12:26pm |
I can put that in my mind and remember it for always...*sigh* That would be all I need. |
cloudhugger | | (reply to Cain) posted 18-Jun-2006 12:29pm |
that's funny! Holding something in the air for all to see the disgust and icky 'look everyone, look!' That is funny! |
Enheduanna | | (reply to romkey) posted 18-Jun-2006 1:41pm |
I think that might be a little uncomfortable. But I will wear mine well enough for the both of us!
On the other hand, could you imagine the two of us as a team of chambermaids in our snazzy uniforms? We could also be spies or something. Very Sydney Bristow. |

I'd surely be one at Heartbreak Hotel. |

if it paid good...can't be worse than working in a nursing home |
| Amanda | | posted 18-Jun-2006 4:36pm |
It wouldn't be my first choice, but I'd do it if I needed the money and couldn't find something I liked better. |
Zang | | posted 18-Jun-2006 6:20pm |
Probably not, as this would be a step down in my career track. However, I'm not opposed to the idea. If I was unemployed and having trouble getting a job and someone offered me a job as a chambermaid I wouldn't turn it down.
Would I get to wear a little dress with an apron?!!
I picked "no opinion". |

Oh, definitely! I want to be Sloane but I don't want to kill Chad! |
Enheduanna | | (reply to romkey) posted 19-Jun-2006 1:48am |
I haven't told him that I'm a secret agent, though, so you don't have to kill him. Although this morning he accused me of being a secret agent for the wake-up police. You might have to fake Mike's death to fool the Alliance so they'll let you have a seat on their council. And then you'll have to find someone to make a special ring that counteracts the tracking device they planted in your neck. (Can you tell I've been rewatching seasons 1 and 2?) |

yep ..I ve been a chambermaid ( or as we called it.. Room Attendant ) in a ski resort hotel when I was younger.. It was a fancy one and I got some kick ass tips.. The Japanese, American and the German folks were great and would leave me the best.. one day I got 2 50 dollar tips twice in a row.. the crisp red fiftys were just laid on the pillows ( adjoining rooms ) .
I got a job offer from a lady in Hawaii for me to be employed as her daughters nanny in Hawaii.. ( I declined ) & A friend of mine was offered to take care of Sylvester Stallones kid ..plus all the people were so rich , they would leave tonnes of unopened food, bottles and bottles of alcohol, skis, boots, clothes, even bags of weed were found by us on several occasions...countless stars stayed there.. I could tell you a few stories about what was left behind!!! I still make a great bed with hospital corners and all, and the triangle corner in the toliet roll.. I only do that if guests are here..
It was actually a fun time in my life, I was minted and I got a free Seasons Pass for the mountain whilst there. Good times, Good times. |
bill | | posted 21-Jun-2006 8:25am |
I said, no, because I'd be a chamber lord... ...really, I just hate to clean, so it seems very unlikely. But, I have to admit, it would be possible if I had few other choices in life. |

Oh no So soon! I'm going to have to ration out my season 4 box-set and learn to rely on Lost instead (which I'm also way behind on - barely started season 2). |
Enheduanna | | (reply to Biggles) posted 21-Jun-2006 5:28pm |
Lost Season 2 is already out on DVD in the UK? That season just ended a couple of months ago, too. Or is it airing on TV there now? |

Yes, but unfortunately for me, I was hired as a life guard for the private pool...Imagine how confused I was when the manager explained that lifeguarding meant making up and cleaning rooms during my free time... But my boyfriend owns a hotel as well, and so I make up and clean rooms for him frequently as well. |
