I think so, I was 15 and was caught shoplifting. I was taken to jail and fingerprinted and every thing. Man my mom was pissed. |

Yes. A couple of times as a teenager, once a few years ago by the homeless man that lives next door (long story), and once yesterday. Well, the charges haven't been officially filed on the incident yesterday. A police report was made. The guy has to go to the justice court to file the charges, since a police officer didn't witness the incident. |

I was a bit of a wild teenager and was arrested a number of times. I'd always have rather them taken me to jail and let me rot than to make me call my parents. My parents never made a big deal out of me getting into trouble. But, they'd always say, "You know you've let us down and really disappointed us." That was the worst part! |

I am not sure. I once been threatened with criminal charges over some bullcrap but then they said they dropped it. I am not sure if they had filled them allready and then dropped them or were about it. I also don't know if they were even bluffing to begin with. |
southernyankee | | (reply to RGirl) posted 6-Jun-2006 7:15pm |
What they catch you trying to take? I heard a lot of times they don't even bother witht the paper work if its something worthless. |

Film for a camera. I was going out that night and wanted to take pictures. Both me and my friend didn't have enough money to buy any. We both stole. I got caught, she didn't. Which was ok with me because her parents would have beat the crap out of her. They were both cops and didn't like her too much. The guy who was in charge of the store at the time looked truly gleeful while filling out the paper work. He was young and it was obvious he thought he was hot sh*t. Maybe he got a promotion or something, I don't know. |

Hah! Yes, it was ludicrous! Someone recently tried to have my dog arrested, for being a danger to other animals. His case fell through and the police actually gave us an apology for wasting our time. Bloody moron. |

As a cop, people have tried it, but never succeed. Some complaints against me is that i'm overzealous, racist, sexist, unfair....you know, that kind of stuff. These come from the people that I arrest, but the people that I tend to arrest are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. |

Oh crap! You're a cop?!? Sorry if I called them stupid in your survey - I mean; they're not all brainless, some are actually very nice. Really!
Forgive me?

No worries....i don't take it personally. But, some cops are brainless...which makes me wonder how they even became cops in the first place. |

| Amanda | | (reply to CarolL) posted 12-Jun-2006 12:23pm |
Oh okay. You replied to the wrong comment.......so I was confused!
My brother and his ex-wife's trailer got repoed. It came as no surprise, no one was mad or anything. Neither of them wanted it, so they just stop paying on it. (Idiots, they are!) Anyhow, the people that came to get it were.......um......slightly trashy. I saw one of them stealing craftsman tools out of a toolbox that was on the lot. So, I went over and told him I'd seen him. To put the tools back. No harm done. Well, is denying it. So, I'm like, no, I saw you with my own eyes. I'm not mad. Just put them back. Then, he gets in my face, starts calling me a dog and a whore and all this. Um.........excuse me? I lost it and punched him in the face. So, he tells me he's going to call the law. I took my cell phone out of my pocket, dialed 911, and told them I'd hit the guy and he wanted a deputy out there! A report was filed. The deputy, who I knew, couldn't arrest me because he hadn't seen it happen. So, the guy's got to take the report to justice court to press charges. |

I survived the interrogation and the situation went away. But it took a long time to resolve within the family. |
Irene007 |
No kidding... It's the kind of situation that can have you squirming eh? |
cerealkiller | | (reply to Irene007) posted 12-Jun-2006 7:23pm |

What comment did he post? He really scares and upsets me sometimes with his pedophilia. Especially when he makes comments about 'resolving within the family'... that gives me so many thoughts as to what he got in trouble for...
|
Irene007 |
Seriously - I try not to dwell on it. I pretend to myself that he's just joking but there's something constant about his personality. I'm not so sure that his conscience is all that clear... |

Irene007 |
Is it your job that keeps you so busy? How do you feel about your work? I'm going to get all my questions in now so you can answer them at the same time!
What brought you into it? Do you come from a family of cops? Do regret the choice you made?Don't you find that you have to deal mostly with the bottom of the barrel types more often than not? |
| Shamrock317 | | (reply to Irene007) posted 19-Jul-2006 5:26pm |
Ok...yes, my job does keep me busy as well as my kids. I love my job...everything about it. Nothing really brought me into being a cop, it was just the right job for me. No, I don't come from a family of cops, although my father was a cop and I knew a lot my father's friends and my grandfather's friends who were NYPD cops. I don't regret any choice I've ever made. No, I come in contact with people from all walks of life...but yes, some of the time I come into contact with people who are on the lower half of the totem pole, so to speak. |
Irene007 |
So you do come for a cop family in that your Dad was one. That's often the way it goes and it makes for better cops than the average guy who just thinks one day that he'd look good in a uniform...
So tell my why the police, or state police hate the feds so much or is that just a Hollywood myth?
Do you know any Secret Service? |
| Shamrock317 | | (reply to Irene007) posted 21-Jul-2006 2:02pm |
I guess I do come from a family of cops. Police don't hate the Feds, we work hand-in-hand with them when something important comes up. But when the police are working on a case with the Feds, the Feds always lead the investigation...because they're of higher authority than us. But some cops could find it a little frustrating working with the Feds, because they're taking over part of the "action". The "Action" that attracts the Feds attention rarely happens, but that depends on what city you live in. No, I don't know any Secret Service Agents. |
