Votes Answer
0 I have never had a sliver(splinter).
2 It has been so long since I had one that I cannot recall.
1 I don't remove them.
0 I scream and drive to the nearest hospital.
7 I ask someone else to remove it, close my eyes and turn away.
2 I ask someone else to remove it and watch them closely.
24 I grab the nearest sharp object and dig it out.
15 I sterilize a needle and tweezers and operate.
7 I do something else.

just dig it out...or if i can, and i've had some bad ones in my time, just push it through and pull it out that way (used to get real bad metal splinters..occupational hazard)

I used to be a big baby about them, now I wish I had one just so I could have someone dig it out with a shiny sharp tool :)

If it's in a place I can reach I dig it out myself, usually not bothering to sterilize a needle. If I can't reach, I ask my SO to help, and I supervise. * smile * I think I've had about a million slivers in my lifetime. I'm a sliver magnet.

I use my fingernail to push it out.

I try to sterilize and remove it with tweezers. If I can't, I put on bacitracin and a bandaid and it usually works itself out over the next few days.

"nearest sharp object" is closest, though I'm somewhat more discriminating than that.

Depends on how deep it is, how thick it is, how much is sticking out, how strong it is, and where it is. Usually I try to pull it out first, and if that proves untenable I operate. Sometimes it's somewhere I can't reach, in which case I'll ask someone else to do it.

If someone else is around, I ask for help. If not, I try to get it out myself with either fingernails, tweezers, or needle, depending on the splinter.

it depends on the splinter. I've never sterilized the knife or tweezers to get one out.

I lick at it until it falls out.

It'll eventually fall out of it's own accord.

Depends...if it's not too deep I use my fingers. If that doesn't work then I go the needle and tweezers route.
