Actually, I've pretty much gotten over being self-conscious about these things. Life's too short to worry too much about what other people think...although some days I don't have such a good attitude.

My body is skinny above the waist and plumb below. It's like God forgot to fill up the rest of me when I was made.

I'm having a bad hair life and sometimes care about that- I'm a bad dresser, but I don't care about that. Mostly I waffle around being self conscious about my body fat- sometimes I'm fine with it, sometimes I'm not.

I occasionally feel self-conscious about my slight degree of overweight (accentuated by poor posture), but mostly I feel good about my appearance. In the last year or two, I've had lots of positive comments, which has helped my self-image.

I only become self conscious in certain situations. What I mean is, if I'm dressed in jeans and a t-shirt and I walk into a 4-star restaurant where everyone is in formal wear, I become self conscious.

I am a little overweight, but I only notice it when I concentrate, so I don't consider myself to be self-conscious. If I were I might do a better job at fixing it.

ummm, ya'll? This is kinda strange... I really wasn't fishing for compliments there- I was just answering the question. I don't mind at all, we can have a "praise topper's appearance page" if that's what happens here, sure! But, ummm, I guess what I'm trying to say is, "thanks, ya'll." * smile *

Twistermine- in regards to my skin... I'm pretty perplexed about this one- people say things to me about this all the time- not really sweethearts, but friends, acquaintances, waiters, cab drivers, retailers, clients.... I appreciate the compliment, but I don't see any significant difference between my skin and that of most people making the comments, or most of my other acquaintances. In that particular photo I had just come out of the cold Pacific Ocean, was sitting in the wind and the mist, and was trying desperately not to vomit.

Interesting gender stuff in the advanced stats. An equal number of women and men answered, but the women picked far more things 'wrong' with them.

I wish I could say I'm an exception, but I'm not. I have struggled with my body image for years, and although I try to love it as it is (and sometimes succeed), I still slip back - such as at the moment.

I have the body of 1950's film starlet (think Jane Mansfield) and have always felt like a caricature. In today's breast-obsessed culture, I get lots of attention - most of which is meant positively. It just makes me feel more like a freak.

Sigh.

PS topper does have wonderful skin
