they	posted 17-Jun-1999 9:57am I have about 10 very, very close friends... I don't think I have a best friend. My SO is one of them, and he is 2 years older than me. One of my friends is 10 years older than me. Another close friend is less than a year younger than me, and yet another is less than a year older.

milktree	posted 17-Jun-1999 11:59am I have a lot of friends that would fall into the category of "best friend", except that "best" implies singular. Most of these people are more than a year older than I, though.

We were neighbors during our teen years and know pretty much everything about each other and our families. And we like each other anyway! It's a very special friendship.
