I tend to think my heart's been broken more, but people have the disturbing habit of casually mentioning in conversation that I broke their heart years before without my realizing it. So I end up deciding that I wouldn't know.

Great survey - Brings back all the unhappy memories however.

I agree with God... as ironic as that sounds.

Both quite rare for me, thankfully.

oo... toughie. I really don't know.
I suspect I've hurt more people than I've been hurt by, but that I've been hurt more by the latter than I've hurt the former.
But I don't have a lot of confidence in that estimation; it's a subjective judgement about a highly emotional question about which I have a very skewed view.

I don't think I've ever broken anyone's heart. I have only had one opportunity to do so, but he got to my heart first.

Judging from the number of proposals (marriage and otherwise) I've heartlessly turned down, I'm very sure I'm in the heartbreaker camp.

But Oh Boy, am I paying for it now. After all these years of being the cold one, I opened up my heart and fell in love. At the moment, it's all going horribly wrong - I have spent a large portion of the past 2 months sobbing. Karmic payback is a dog!

I think I've only broken one heart, but mine's been broken several times.

Madamex - I am truly sorry to hear it, and hope things are going better for you soon!

I'm definitely on the break-er side more than break-ee, though for a long time I was somewhere between totally clueless and purposefully ignorant on the topic.

Those of you that have had yours broken multiple times... where did you go to get it repaired? Mine was broken to the point of non-function over ten years ago, which is nice because it can't be broken any worse but not so nice since it really hasn't worked right since.

drdt - You have to be totally stupid and somehow regenerate enough faith in love to let yourself fall in love again. Can you turn off your brain enough to do that? It took me some years too....(5, actually)

Yep...you must just give in again....even though reason may be waving red flags in your face and logic is trying to drag you away by the hair.....

I have this tendency to care about guys a lot and they usually end up cheating on me or doing something else to hurt me.

I always used to get bored with my boyfriends and dump them for someone new and more interesting. But things change and I have learned a lot and am now happily married.

I've had my heart broken once, more often than I've inflicted that on another. It's an amazingly resilient organ though. I find it only takes 7 years to heal.

I have broken hearts more. Platonic male friends falling for me after getting to know me makes it impossible to avoid doing this. It's not on purpose!
