In my job you don't necessarily set next to the same person each day. Sometimes I sit next to someone I like, other times I don't. We pick which project we want to work on and I have no idea who will be sitting in the cubicles on either side of me from day to day.
As to my second job as assistant manager of our apartment complex, I don't sit next to anyone. This job is done from my apartment.

I don't sit by anyone. I'm in a cube in a corner of a large office building. Vacant cubes all around me. It come in handy. No one ever knows when I show up or leave. Nor does anyone really care.

For one, I don't sit when I work, and I work for myself.

I sit next to a multitude of people in classes. Some I like, some I don't know, most change daily.
