| Danger | posted 19-Mar-2006 2:40am no operations... |
| RGirl | posted 19-Mar-2006 2:50am No operation as a child. As an adult, 2. |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 19-Mar-2006 2:52am Since I was two weeks old at the time, I doubt I was told anything. |
| Melf | posted 19-Mar-2006 4:50am "They're going to fix your ears! Look, here's a happy glittery unicorn!"
"Just count to ten, and you'll fall asleep." |
| llamamama | posted 19-Mar-2006 10:20am I was told what they were going to do..and then on the day of the operation I remember saying,"Ok, I changed my mind. I don't want do this." |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 19-Mar-2006 10:38am I might have had some kind of surgery I am not aware of and who knows? |
| Iseult | posted 19-Mar-2006 10:57am I was told the truth. |
| longhaultrucker | posted 19-Mar-2006 11:07am I never had a surgery that i remember |
| ElvisFan67 | posted 19-Mar-2006 12:15pm I had surgery for a broken arm once, but I've never had any type of major surgery where I had to go under the knife. |
| they | posted 19-Mar-2006 2:51pm It was an emergency surgery.
I was pretty much told as I was being wheeled in. |
| hypersky | posted 19-Mar-2006 5:36pm I had my tonsils removed when I was about 5 or 6. I was told that I'd have loads of ice cream. The ice cream was meant to soothe the pain, and it must've worked because I remember the ice cream part, but not the pain. |
| hypersky | (reply to Melf) posted 19-Mar-2006 5:39pm The "just count to ten" part I really love, when you feel the anesthesia doing its stuff, and you're on your way to la-la land. A major cool moment. I'd get surgery done just for that. |
| Enheduanna | posted 19-Mar-2006 7:58pm I have never had an operation or surgery. What's the difference between an operation and surgery, anyway? |
| LuridHope | posted 19-Mar-2006 8:27pm I was told that aliens came one night and replaced my brain with a synthetic brain and that is why I am crazy. |
| RGirl | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 19-Mar-2006 8:29pm No difference. |
| Enheduanna | (reply to RGirl) posted 19-Mar-2006 8:32pm I didn't think so, but then I thought perhaps there was some subtle nuance I wasn't aware of. |
| Enigma | posted 19-Mar-2006 10:49pm I had an operation when I was about 13 so I was certainly old enough to know everything. Did you mean if someone was like under eight years old? |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 19-Mar-2006 11:10pm Perhaps a hysterectomy as a little girl I suspect at times |
| Zang | posted 20-Mar-2006 1:16am I was told that a magic fairy would come and send me off to sleepy bye land and then when I awoke I could have all the Jell-O and ice cream I wanted! The really weird thing was that I was 37 at the time and I was getting a vasectomy! |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 20-Mar-2006 1:19am This reminds me of the tooth fairy and a story being told about my tooth and leaving my tooth on my pillow and getting some money for it in plenty of purse change |
| JessicaWoman99 | (reply to Zang) posted 20-Mar-2006 1:21am > I was told that a magic fairy would come and send me off to sleepy

| mve17 | posted 20-Mar-2006 8:31am The nice man's going to knock you out and cut off that 3rd arm you have, there's absolutely nothing to worry about honey |
| Hans | posted 20-Mar-2006 11:11am I was told it was necessary and I should not be too concerned. The truth was that there was little hope for me but this was the only chance. |
| Melf | (reply to hypersky) posted 20-Mar-2006 12:37pm I really wish I remembered the feeling of the anesthesia kicking in, but it was years ago; I was getting grommets. I do remember some kindly dark man with thin rimmed glasses leaning over me, saying it though. |
| autumnlight | posted 20-Mar-2006 12:40pm I only had dental surgery, but I had to go to hospital and have general anaesthetic. I got told what was hapening the whole time. |
| shorty189 | posted 20-Mar-2006 3:10pm I had open heart surgery when I was 5 months old. I had a hole in my heart. |
| hypersky | (reply to Melf) posted 20-Mar-2006 4:59pm I've had 3-4 surgeries where I was put under, the last one being about a year ago, and I remember trying to fight the anesthesia, but quickly, and happily giving up. I wish going to bed every night were that comfortable. I'm not saying that I would drug myself to sleep, but if that feeling could come naturally, it would be bliss! |

| Emo | posted 20-Mar-2006 9:26pm the operations were fine they really arent a big deal I had one of my ear and another one in my leg |
| Melf | (reply to RGirl) posted 21-Mar-2006 2:30am They help to cure glue ear. I thought that it was some kind of hearing aid when I was little, but they're small tubes that are put inside children's ears to help drain away sticky fluid that is trapped there.

| RGirl | (reply to Melf) posted 21-Mar-2006 2:32am Oh ok. Yeah I know what that is. I've only known it as 'tubes'. |
| cloudhugger | posted 21-Mar-2006 8:33am Younger? I was younger yesterday... |
| cloudhugger | (reply to mve17) posted 21-Mar-2006 8:36am Hey, what kind of cake you got going on there...you gonna eat all that? |
| RGirl | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 21-Mar-2006 6:29pm > Hey, what kind of cake you got going on there...you gonna eat all

| cloudhugger | (reply to RGirl) posted 21-Mar-2006 11:24pm Only when someone mentions there is cake, otherwise no. |
| Shadow_Matt | posted 22-Mar-2006 7:49am never had one |

| Irene007 | posted 23-Mar-2006 8:12am I didn't have anything I couldn't figure out myself - like the time I got stitches when my brother accidently hit me with a golf club on the ear. I didn't need to be told anything about it - I kinda knew... |

| Zang | (reply to Irene007) posted 23-Mar-2006 8:58am I made up that story. The whole thing is a great big lie. Not a shred of truth in it. |
| Irene007 | (reply to Zang) posted 23-Mar-2006 6:10pm It was funny because I asked the doctor if I could watch him but he refused because he didn't have an attendant to tend to me in case I fainted! |
| Glassa | posted 23-Mar-2006 6:40pm I don't remember. I was only 2. But I do remember the aftermath.
I broke my arm when I was 11 & they said they needed to go in to fix it because I broke it right on the growth-plate. |
| Zang | (reply to Irene007) posted 24-Mar-2006 10:21pm I really don't like thinking about the gory details... |

| Zang | (reply to Irene007) posted 27-Mar-2006 10:48pm Yeah, I'm sure that would help. |

| Colleentg | posted 10-Feb-2007 3:53am A doctor noticed scar tissue and asked what I knew about it. I still don't know, but have my suspicions. |
