I love sushi, and if I were in a higher income bracket I'd have it every week.

There's nothing better than sushi. Actually, Mireille is making sushi right now!

I don't like it because they don't cook it well enough.... Back home we called sushi "bait"... ROFL

I really don't like fish that much... Crab, clams, oysters, and Lobster are about the only water creatures I eat... I do occasionally eat the imitation crab which is white fish...

Sushi without the raw fish rocks! The ones with the raw fosh do not go down the throat very well.

Yes I do. I eat it fairly regularly. Maybe once a week. My favourites are Tako (octopus), Namasake (salmon) and Maguro (tuna). I didn't used to like the Tojo-maki (a local invention, now popular worldwide) but I've since acquired a taste for them.

I'm guessing that sushi is a lot more expensive in a city far from the ocean and with a small Japanese population. It used to be a lot more expensive here before it became popular. In the 1970s and 1980s, there weren't that many sushi restaurants in Vancouver and not so many Japanese tourists either. Now there must be dozens of sushi places just downtown. I can pig out on sushi for about $5.00, although I can also pay more than $50.00 if I'm going to take a couple of friends out and have sake etc. in a nice place.

Actually, Menudo is (also) a Mexican dish; stewed tripe in a sweet and spicy broth. I have no idea how it got mentioned alongside sushi...

No, I don't, but a lot of the fancy places round here put a copy of the menu on a plaque outside.

"Like" is not the word I'd use -- more like "adore" or "love." I have never met a piece of sushi I didn't like. My fav. is the maguro (raw tuna) which I could eat every day of the year, at least 3 times a day, and never get tired of it.

Yes - right next to our coffee bar we have a yo sushi and the managers are nice and trade with us quite often. i love it all except for the octopus. Wasn't really keen on that.

Very much so. Although it's not something I eat often. I cannot get it locally (only restaurants I have within my walking distance are Thai, Pakistani, French, and a lot of grill and gourmet places). Only chance I ever get to buy it is from a grocery market, but it's overpriced.

Yeah, they do that a lot around here too. I guess it beats the hell out of seeing customers get up and leave after being seated and then looking at the menu. It doesn't have to be that fancy of restaurant though, and they usually just put it in the window, right by the door.

Ever have a bento box,
most places you can usually get a good deal on sushi as a lunch special,
like $7.00 for a complete meal.

It must be harder to get good sushi the further you get from a coastline.

I have only tried sushi from a Chinese restaurant buffet which is nothing like you would get at a real sushi restaurant, or in Japan for that matter. From the buffet, it was fine but there was more rice than uncooked seafood so it's hard for me to say.

There's a misconception that all sushi is "raw fish" This is not ture. Sushi refers to how the meal is prepared, not what's in it. There's shrimp sushi, vegetable sushi, I could go on and on. It's the seaweed (it's pre-cooked, and it's good), and the sticky rice, and the ginger that MAKE it sushi.

No, I tried it once, didn't care for it. And then I started my B.S. in Biology and discovered the dangers of tape worms. So, now I will NEVER eat sushi and have a morbid fear of tape worms.
