I've bought all of the items at one time or the other at markets. I even bought a full blooded chow dog at a flee market before. I got a diamond antique watch at a thrift store. I tried to tell the woman it was not a cheap watch but she said $4 and I wasn't going to argue with her. I love thrift stores, flea markets, yard sales all of it. I just wish I had more time to go to them. |

usually stupid junk that i end up throwing away, like toasters, microwaves, old clothes, videos and junk like that. |

Where's the choice for "nothing"? An obvious overlooked option.
I wouldn't buy food from anyone outside for sure. Just heard yesterday the county is cracking down on roadside fruit vendors. Too much danger of germs and disease. 6 people have died from meningitis this year already around here.
All the other answer choices are other people's used junk which we wouldn't want either.
What the hell is a "jockey lot"? They sell used horse jockeys there? Or those statues of black guys holding lanterns?
I guess you could say the only thing I buy outside are vehicles. They're not inside the building. |

Lots of home decor - small stuff. I have bought furniture but now have no more room. Clothes and/or shoes definitely. Food from farmers markets. Occasional spices, vitamins, etc. from estate sales. Mainly a garage-saler, I look for other stuff in the way of books, aromatherapy, supplements, bath oils & powders, paints and paintbrushes, notepads, and various other stuff. |

I really only go when I'm in South Carolina visiting my grandma..And..I don't know if we buy anything..I like the roads |
| cabinfever | | posted 23-Feb-2006 9:27pm |
Darn near anything that I need. Home decor, collectibles, clothes (no shoes, ick), or other items like stuff I can resell on ebay, bulk material, craft supplies. I don't buy food at yard sales, but I will buy fresh fruit and veggies at a Farmer's Market. If there are kids selling lemonade or canned pop, I'll help them out by buying from them. |

What do you mean, 'I like the roads'? You like the scenery? You like the lack of potholes in the asphalt? |
| llamamama |
I like the cobblestone roads..it's cool. We have part of the city that we live in that looks like where she lives |

Well, we have a large flea market/open market. We buy stuff that we will put on ebay, cookware, vintage kitchen utensils, vintage toys, stuff like that. We buy baked goods from the same man every time. His wife does the baking, but she isn't well enough to come to the market. She makes this banana but bread that is so good. I buy records if there are any good ones. Veggies and some fruit. That's about it. |

Cobblestone roads? Cool! At least, just to visit. Not sure I'd want them all the time. But they would be pretty here where I live because the town is old and almost every building is original. |
| llamamama |
Yeah, it is cool. I wanna go back..haha |

I'm thinking more of open markets here in Asia. I will sometimes buy children's clothing, accessories (backpacks, scarves, jewelry), fruit & vegetables, flowers, toys and other odd little items that my kids might like. Also markets are really handy for goody bag/pinata fillers for children's parties. |

I buy old vintage looking clothes and belt buckles. Oh and southern confederate memorabilia |

to cereal regarding people getting sick from food bought at roadside stands and/or farmer's markets: perhaps if people washed their produce as they ought to, they wouldn't be getting sick. same thing can happen at any chain grocery store: sick people can come in and manhandle any vegetable they want to. |

I've bought cheese and socks at a farmer's market within the past few years. I don't recall any other purchases of a similar nature. |

Hookers mostly...ok no I'm just kidding, I don't go to out door markets. I haven't seen any in the city where I live. Other wise I would love to go. Not sure what I would buy though...Probably art, jewlery and plants...I guess... |

I have been to outdoor markets and have purchased food, flowers, furniture, nick-nacks ... but I have a question. What is a jockey lot? |

wackadoo: 'jockey lot' is another name for a flea market. i included that term because i noticed some people seemed unfamiliar with the phrase 'flea market' in a different survey. |

I'd buy anything from a market really. |
| ROCKMAN | | posted 25-Feb-2006 7:43am |
Other. I'll get whatever is a good buy, if I need it or want it. I don't go to these much any more. If I go past a garage/yard sale and see something that catches my eye I'll stop and check it out. |
| IncredibAl | | posted 25-Feb-2006 6:54pm |
I like farmers' markets for fresh baking and produce.
Craft markets, particularly at Christmas time, are fun to browse through. Thanks to our cool weather, they aren't usually outside.
I usually paw through the electronic stuff at yard sales, but don't usually buy anything. If the operator of the sale was depending on me, he/she would be broke! |

I buy fruits and vegetables when the farmer's market is open. |

I generally go to flea markets, yard sales, etc with an open mind and could buy almost anything. We have several fantastic farmers markets locally during the growing season - I buy fresh produce at them all the time. |
