I don't crochet; I can sort of knit. I know how to make a straight row of, um, stitches? I don't even know what to call them. Anyway, I can make something that almost looks like a scarf.

Sadly no. Mom taught me to do both but I kept up with neither. Sorry Mom. * frown *

Well, I am proud to say I crochet very well. I make afghans without patterns or plans. Just go with it. It's a family thing. For generations the daughters have learned to crochet and knit. I didn't do so hot with the knitting though.

Honestly i do not, but my grandma can knit sweaters and blankets that are better than the junk $100 blankets they sell at the mall.

I know how to do both but it's been years since I've actually done it. Probably would need a refresher ...

I enjoy knitting big, flat things like scarves and blankets and stuff. I've never tried anything tricky with lots of increases and decreases, or knitting in the round (like socks) because they seem to require too much attention to detail. I can also purl, and have tried patterns like ribbing and popcorn stitch, but they also require too much attention to detail. I like to knit mindlessly, while watching TV or talking. I wish they'd let me knit at meetings - I'd feel like the meeting was actually productive!

I crochet. I am currently working my way through a book that has 63 different stitches, trying to learn the ones I like the looks of.

That's all you need. I've used pieces of yarn for bookmarks on occasion. As long as it marks the page, it accomplishes its purpose. * smile *

Neither. As there are some very ugly, tacky things made by knotting yarn with sticks; there are also very beautiful creations...
But there should be a law against the willful waste of yarn as shown in the following image;

Mom took up the arduous task of teaching me when I was a young'un. Didn't stick. I don't know why, maybe she made me uncomfortable, or I sucked, I don't remember.

I cannot stand sewing of any type. I even dropped out of 8th grade Home Economics at semester because I hated sewing so much.
