you ask me if I'd change my mind, that I wont require you, never my love. / some try to tell me thoughts they can not defend. / and if it snows that stretch down south wont ever stand the strain. / he blew his mind out in a car. / way down inside, woman, you need me. / you see its all clear, you were meant to be here, from the beginning

There are various song lyrics that run thru my mind, being a lifetime music lover; some are:

"If that's your mama, you better tie her to your side...
'Cause if she flags my train, I'm sure gonna let her ride."
- Jimmie Rodgers, Late 1920s folk/blues singer.

"I went to the depot and looked up on the board...
It said it's good times here, but it's better down the road."
- Jimmie Rodgers, late '20s folk/blues singer.

"When you were in your prime, you liked to run around...
You've been a good old wagon, daddy, but you've done broke down."
- Bessie Smith, '20s blues singer.

"I went up to a brakeman to give him a line of talk...
He said if you've got money, I'll see that you don't walk.
I haven't got a nickel, not a penny can I show...
Get off, get off, you railroad bum. He slammed the boxcar door."
- Jimmie Rodgers, late '20s folk/blues yodeler.

"'Cause the first one now will later be last...
for the times they are a-changin'"
- Bob Dylan, '60s folk singer.

"I caught a loaded taxi, paid up everybody's fare...
flipped a 20-dollar bill, told him catch that yellow cab...."
- "Nadine" by Chuck Berry, original '50s rock artist. (Various of Chuck's old songs have stuck in my mind - he had a good clear voice and I could understand his lyrics easily.)

...like ""Rainwater blowin' all under my hood...
I knew that was doin' my motor good.
Maybelline, why can't you be true... you keep on doing the things you used to do."

And a much later one by Eminem:
"Two trailer park girls go 'round the outside
'round the outside..."

Ah, the poets of blues and rock...

This is from Crowds by Bauhaus. I like the whole thing. I have definitely had the feelings for some one that this song expresses.

What do you want of me
What do you long from me
A slim Pixie, thin and forlorn
A count, white and drawn
What do you make of me
What can you take from me
Pallid landscapes off my frown
Let me rip you up and down

For you I came to forsake
Lay wide despise and hate
I sing of you in my demented songs
For you and your stimulations
Take what you can of me
Rip what you can off me
And this I'll say to you
And hope that it gets through

You worthless dog
You fickle crap
You would spit on me
You would make me spit
And when the Judas hour arrives
And like the Jesus Jews you epitomize
I'll still be here as strong as you
And I'll walk away in spite of you

And I'll walk away
Walk away
(repeat)

Unless you count opera as having lyrics, I don't listen to music with lyrics. Even if you did count opera, I don't understand most of what's being sung because it isn't in English.

Some Of Them Are Old

People come and go and forget to close the door
And they leave their stains and cigarette butts trampled on the floor
And when they do, remember me, remember me.

Some of them are old, some of them are new
Some of them will turn up when you least expect them to
And when they do, remember me, remember me.

Lucy you're my girl, Lucy you're a star
Lucy please be still and put your madness in a jar
But do beware, it will follow you, it will follow you.

Some of them are old but it would help if you could smile
To earn a crooked sixpence you'll walk many crooked miles
And as you do, remember me, remember me.

Komm, lieber Mai, und mache
die Bäume wieder grün! (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)

Tochter Zion, freue dich,
jauchze laut, Jerusalem!
Sieh, dein König kommt zu dir,
ja er kommt, der Friedefürst.
Tochter Zion, freue dich,
jauchze laut, Jerusalem! (Friedrich Heinrich Ranke/Georg Friedrich Händel)

Seht ihr den Mond dort stehen?
Er ist nur halb zu sehen,
und ist doch rund und schön.
So sind wohl manche Sachen,
die wir getrost belachen,
weil unsre Augen sie nicht seh'n. (Matthias Claudius/Max Reger)

Weißt du, wieviel Sternlein stehen
an dem blauen Himmelszelt?
Weißt du, wieviel Wolken gehen
weithin über alle Welt?
Gott der Herr hat sie gezählet,
daß ihm auch nicht eines fehlet
an der ganzen großen Zahl,
an der ganzen großen Zahl. (Wilhelm Hey/Volkslied)

Ich weiß von keinem Sterben,
Dieweil ich leb in Dir,
Nichts, nichts kann mich verderben,
Dein Leben lebt in mir. (Gerhard Tersteegen/William H. Monk)

Träume, träume, du mein süßes Leben,
Von dem Himmel, der die Blumen bringt.
Blüten schimmern da, die leben
Von dem Lied, das deine Mutter singt.

Träume, träume, Knospe meiner Sorgen,
Von dem Tage, da die Blume sproß;

This is something I always have in my mind, but there are lines more beautiful than these in other songs but I cant remember right now.

"Sitting here inside an empty room that was filled with us
Only boxes to define what was left of what we used to call love
It's sad that after all of this time, you have nothing to say
Ooh, and the only thing that you could've done, you choose to walk away

I'm thankful, love
I don't hate you
'Cause I'd rather live and know than what you put me through
I needed you
Somehow"

I need a sign, to let me know you're here;
All of these lines are being crossed over the atmosphere.
I need to know, that things are gonna look up;
'Cause I feel us drowning in a sea spilled from a cup.

When there is no place safe and no safe place to put my head,
When you can feel the world shake from the words that are said.

And I'm, calling all angels
And I'm, calling all you angels

And I won't give up, if you don't give up
I won't give up, if you don't give up
I won't give up, if you don't give up
I won't give up, if you don't give up

I need a sign to let me know you're here;
'Cause my TV set just keeps it all from being clear.
I want a reason for the way things have to be;
I need a hand to help build up some kind of hope inside of me.

And I'm, calling all angels.
And I'm, calling all you angels

'Heresy' by Nine Inch Nails.

he sewed his eyes shut because he is afraid to see
he tries to tell me what I put inside of me
he's got the answers to ease my curiosity
he dreamed up a god and called it Christianity

your god is dead and no one cares
if there is a hell I will see you there

he flexed his muscles to keep his flock of sheep in line
he made a virus that would kill off all the swine
his perfect kingdom of killing, suffering and pain
demands devotion atrocities done in his name

your god is dead and no one cares
drowning in his own hypocrisy
and if there is a hell I will see you there
burning with your god in humility
will you die for this?

I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waste
And a round thing in your face
You get sprung
Wanna pull up front
Cuz you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh, baby I wanna get with ya
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But with that butt you got
Me so horney
Ooh, all of that smooth skin
You say you wanna get in my benz
Well use me use me cuz you aint that average groupy

I've seen them dancin'
The hell with romancin'
Sweat, sweat, got it goin like a turbo vette

I'm tired of magazines
Saying flat butts are the thing
Take the average black man and him that
She gotta pack much back

Fellas (yeah) Fellas(yeah)
Has your girlfriend got the butt (hell yeah)
Well shake it, shake it, shake it, shake it, shake that healthy butt
Baby got back

(LA face with Oakland booty)

I like'em round and big
And when I'm throwin a gig
I just can't help myself
I'm actin like an animal
Now here's my scandal

I wanna get you home
And --, double up -- --
I aint talkin bout playboy
Cuz silicone parts were made for toys
I wannem real thick and juicy
So find that juicy double
Mixalot's in trouble
Beggin for a piece of that bubble
So I'm lookin' at rock videos
Watchin' these bimbos walkin like hoes
You can have them bimbos
I'll keep my women like Flo Jo
A word to the thick soul sistas
I wanna get with ya
I won't cus or hit ya
But I gotta be straight when I say I wanna --
Til the break of dawn
I got it goin on
Alot of pimps won't like this song
Cuz them punks lie to hit it and quit it
But I'd rather stay and play
Cuz I'm long and I'm strong
And I'm down to get the friction on

So ladies (yeah), Ladies (yeah)
If you wanna role in my Mercedes (yeah)
Then turn around
Stick it out
Even white boys got to shout
Baby got back

(LA face with the Oakland booty)

Yeah baby
When it comes to females
Cosmo and got nothin to do with my selection
36-24-36
Only if she's 5'3"

So your girlfriend throws a Honda
Playin workout tapes by Fonda
But Fonda and got motor in the back of her Honda
My anaconda don't want none unless you've got buns hon
You can do side bends or sit-ups, but please don't lose that butt
Some brothers wanna play that hard role
And tell you that the butt and gold
So they toss it and leave it
And I pull up quick to retrieve it
So cosmo says you're fat
Well I aint down with that
Cuz your waste is small and your curves are kickin
And I'm thinkin bout stickin
To the beanpole dames in the magazines
You aint it miss thing
Give me a sista I can't resist her
Red beans and rice didn't miss her
Some knucklehead tried to dis
Cuz his girls were on my list
He had game but he chose to hit 'em
And pulled up quick to get with 'em
So ladies if the butt is round
And you wanna triple X throw down
Dial 1-900-mixalot and kick them nasty thoughts
Baby got back

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in a quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say
