| jonas | posted 11-Jun-1999 2:40pm My bedroom just has stairs, no door. When sleeping in a doored room, I always keep it open. Dunno why, I just feel closed in otherwise. |
| bill | posted 11-Jun-1999 3:03pm Pekoe (one of our cats) would have a fit (and has...). He's got issues with closed doors. |
| dpolicar | posted 11-Jun-1999 3:04pm pretty much always. I got into the habit when I lived with a cat, and am now simply in the habit. Besides, my SO is twitchy about keeping the door closed, so it ends up closed whether I close it or not. |
| Jody | posted 11-Jun-1999 3:36pm Only when other people are still up and they have the kitchen light on or are loud. When it's quiet and the light is off I like having the door open because the light from the nightlight shines in. I like having a nightlight. |
| Eeah | posted 11-Jun-1999 3:37pm I can't stand the door being open. |
| gilly | posted 11-Jun-1999 3:41pm I prefer to have the door closed as a matter of privacy, but I can't actually see the door from my bed so I very occasionally don't notice that it's open. |
| SueBee | posted 11-Jun-1999 3:59pm Yes, otherwise the rats in the living room keep me awake with their noise. (They're pets, not vermin! |
| mandy | posted 11-Jun-1999 7:58pm We have a child in the house, so we sleep with the bedroom door ajar, in case she cries out for something in the night. |
| mandy | posted 11-Jun-1999 7:59pm wait a bloody minute....how could we have two different answers? |
| mandy | posted 11-Jun-1999 8:00pm Open, you fool! |
| SueBee | posted 11-Jun-1999 8:32pm Not wide open, but pushed as far closed as it will go without latching. I'd count that as closed. Who you callin' "fool", fool? |

| anonymous | posted 12-Jun-1999 8:27am ...hamster. |
| lizzie | posted 12-Jun-1999 11:08am My cat scratches at the door if I close it, so I leave it open for him. Plus if it is hot I get better ventilation with the door open. |
| kristalynn | posted 12-Jun-1999 11:12am I almost always sleep with my bedroom door closed. The only reason I won't is if "scoop" my cat wants in or out. |
| SueBee | posted 12-Jun-1999 12:56pm jjg - It depends on how thirsty I am. I think we need a vote on this one. Or a ruling from the survey creator. Hunter, does it have to be latched to count as closed? Anonymous - there is a cute website everyone should see at http://www.hampsterdance.com |
| fooyun | posted 12-Jun-1999 10:58pm And locked. |
| sandals | posted 13-Jun-1999 9:51am I can't get to sleep if the doors open. |
| Gamera | posted 13-Jun-1999 7:59pm When my SO who is allergic to my cat is here, I do. Otherwise, I tend to leave it open a crack for her furry highness to wander in and out. |
| Gamera | posted 13-Jun-1999 8:02pm Fooyun- and *locked* ? do you live with people you do not trust, or simply prefer that extra symbol of privacy? I'd be afraid to sleep in a locked room, in case the house caught on fire and someone had to come rouse me. |
| lelle | posted 14-Jun-1999 12:36am The cats would never allow a closed bedroom door. :) |
| fooyun | posted 14-Jun-1999 12:27pm My door is easily break-downable...I just need the extra privacy. My grandma likes to look in on me during the night because she's overprotective. She doesn't know I sleep in the nude sometimes. |
| they | posted 14-Jun-1999 2:09pm The door has a tendency to close itself, so we keep it propped open at all times... it is never kept shut. |
| eris | posted 14-Jun-1999 3:32pm Always - there's a hall light right outside the door that I use as a night-light, and it is too bright for me to sleep comfortably by. But I leave the door unlatched so the cats can come and go. |
| dpolicar | posted 14-Jun-1999 8:55pm fooyun - sounds like you have a self-correcting problem to me... then again, perhaps locking the door is a more straightforward solution. |
| Alexandria | posted 20-Jun-1999 9:43pm I feel strange with the bedroom door opened. I don't know why...I've slept with the door closed since I was little...I guess I'm just used to it. :) |
| drdt | posted 28-Jun-1999 6:44pm My roommate sometimes shuts my bedroom door, although for my protection or his is a debatable point. |
| kirst | posted 5-Jul-1999 12:23am The cat would be traumatized if we closed our cabin door! |
