| LindaH | posted 9-Jan-2006 12:23am A little bit, in some ways. Sometimes it doesn't though. Sometimes their choice in music is totally opposite of their personality. I once worked with a quiet, soft spoken, mellow woman who shocked everyone by saying she listened to hardcore metal. Who'da thunk? |
| Frostbrand | posted 9-Jan-2006 12:39am If it does that would make me a schizophrenic. |
| patarnone | posted 9-Jan-2006 12:56am Yes, just like all other actions, likes, or dislikes reflect on the user. |
| southernyankee | posted 9-Jan-2006 1:11am It might. |
| Enheduanna | posted 9-Jan-2006 1:18am Sure. |
| FauxLo | posted 9-Jan-2006 2:59am No... it just reflects a personal preference. Just like people that like to eat carrots don't necessarily end up with better vision than others - they just like carrots... and sometimes coincidentally have perfect vision.
More accurately, this survey is like Astrology. Sure there are characteristics that one can attribute to one's self, but... there's a ton of folks that could claim the same thing and like a totally different genre of music. |
| Lahdee | posted 9-Jan-2006 7:03am Other: sometimes |
| paulyw | posted 9-Jan-2006 8:54am Yes it does! There is one person who plays such crappy music on the jukebox, nobody likes it. This is at our local bowling center, and she plays it all the time, and to me it is the stupidest music I ever heard in my life. And everybody at the bowling center complains. |
| Galomorro | posted 9-Jan-2006 9:32am Yes, I'd say probably does. I'm a naturally rebellious sort, quiet but totally nonconformist and anticonservatism. When I was younger and into rock music I gravitated towards the Stones and the Dead, especially (and later) the Dead. Very nonconformist bands these. I have always liked various kinds of World music, ever since I was a kid, and now buy ONLY several different kinds of ethnic music that few people in the US have ever heard of. (Except most people HAVE heard of Cajun, of course, due to it being a form of American ethnic music.) Does the fact that I now buy only various different forms of World music perhaps suggest past lives (I'd like to think so myself |
| judgescratch | posted 9-Jan-2006 12:25pm It probably reflects something about their personality. |
| mrtempler | posted 9-Jan-2006 2:01pm people who listen to a good variety of music are generally more open minded and intelligent than those who stick to one or two forms of music, thats my experience with that subject. |
| cerealkiller | posted 9-Jan-2006 2:52pm Maybe, maybe not. More likely for those who only listen to one kind of music. |
| Iseult | posted 9-Jan-2006 4:44pm Do I get this right? A person will deliberately choose a type of music to listen to because they may think that it will relfect their personality, not choose what they like? |
| Dino | posted 9-Jan-2006 4:57pm I must admit, I do tend to judge people based on their music tastes. |
| llamamama | posted 9-Jan-2006 5:03pm It can..sometimes..it depends |
| ElvisFan67 | posted 9-Jan-2006 7:53pm Absolutely. It tells you a lot about his/her personality--just like the clothes they wear and the cars they drive. |
| LindaH | (reply to ElvisFan67) posted 9-Jan-2006 8:39pm Not really, because clothes and car could reflect income more than personality. Different types of music don't cost any different. |
| Zang | posted 10-Jan-2006 8:45am |
| caviartaste | posted 10-Jan-2006 1:58pm yeah, somewhat... |
| cabinfever | posted 10-Jan-2006 6:29pm Not necessarily. |
| cabinfever | (reply to FauxLo) posted 10-Jan-2006 6:30pm Better vision isn't a personality trait... |
| Enigma | posted 10-Jan-2006 6:40pm No one could define my personality by the music I listen to except to say I'm an enigma. Like many people I love all different types of music! |
| docgbrown | posted 10-Jan-2006 6:48pm Perhaps somewhat. But what about people like me that don't like music? |
| FauxLo | (reply to cabinfever) posted 10-Jan-2006 7:38pm > Better vision isn't a personality trait... I agree, better vision isn't a personality trait. It's a coincidence that folks have better than average vision when they like carrots. My point was to point out that these are coincidences that occur. Perhaps I should've said not all white men are bad dancers; or not all black men are bad at mathematics. |
| cloudhugger | posted 12-Jan-2006 10:41pm No, I do not.
Does it? |
| ROCKMAN | posted 15-Jan-2006 8:42am I think it does somewhat. |
| Analog | posted 15-Jan-2006 12:11pm I don't listen to much music, therefore I don't have much of a personality. |
| busybaker | posted 15-Jan-2006 5:23pm Sometimes. |
| RGirl | posted 17-Jan-2006 4:48am Most people have a few different genres they are attracted to. This reflects different facets of their personality looking for a place to be. |
| autumnlight | posted 19-Jan-2006 3:13pm Definitely not. If so, then I'm a schizophrenic. |
| autumnlight | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 19-Jan-2006 3:14pm |

| starrpickle | posted 1-Feb-2006 4:15pm I'm a hypocrite on this in my case no but in some cases yes |
| FauxLo | (reply to starrpickle) posted 1-Feb-2006 4:17pm |
| Melf | posted 4-Feb-2006 6:39am I believe it *can*, but there's no guy more considerate I know than Jamie, who loves Slipknot and Trivium. |
