| Dino | posted 8-Jan-2006 12:47pm I had to learn as an adult on a 'Learn to Swim' holiday.
I stayed for a week in a hotel with two heated swimming pools with structured classes. It was fun and the best way to learn. Especially as all the other guests were experiencing the same thing and we all immediately hit it off on the first night at the welcome buffet dinner. The 'teacher' was a 17 year old student girl who was earning money during the holidays. She was very brave to teach our group. |

| docgbrown | posted 10-Jan-2006 7:52pm My older brother. When i was five years old he tossed me in our pool and than ran around the pool banging the edges with a 2"x4" shouting "Swim or die!" I sort of figured out how to swim and lived, but I still don't trust my older brother. The following year I got formal lessons at school that totally changed how I swim. Sporadic classes honed my swimming methods over time. Nearly two decades after my near drowning I swam for my college water-polo team. Did I mention that I still don't trust my older brother? Yeah, this wasn't his only act of cruelty. |
