| FauxLo | posted 28-Dec-2005 5:25pm It depends on the survey. For example, if a survey says "essay" then one choice would be one too many. |
| LindaH | posted 28-Dec-2005 5:29pm It's not the quantity of choices that matters, it's the quality.

| darkshadowsseeker | posted 28-Dec-2005 6:02pm It depends entirely on the survey. |
| jduPres | posted 28-Dec-2005 6:32pm Depends on the survey. Obviously, even one option would be too many on a essay type of survey. However, if you were asking a question about a specific author and whether or not you had read that author's books and didn't list all the books, that would be too few. |
| bcollins | posted 28-Dec-2005 8:06pm It would depend on the type of survey and the kind of question being asked. |
| patarnone | posted 28-Dec-2005 8:13pm I enjoy reading through the choice list. When nothing fits my style, I usually choose the "other" category so I can explain.
I think 4 or 5 is about right. |
| Galomorro | posted 28-Dec-2005 8:49pm Don't think there can ever be too many. I am registered with several "serious" survey sites and one of my main gripes has been that they often don't provide ENOUGH choices -- i.e., these are supposed to be "professional" survey companies and they will have a question like what shows do you watch on TV or how many hours do you watch TV -- and they do not make allowances for or provide an option for someone who does NOT watch TV nor have one. Stuff like this. They have tunnel-vision sometimes and some of 'em need to go to SC to see how it SHOULD be done. |
| romkey | posted 28-Dec-2005 11:34pm Depends on the survey. If the choices are ranking, then more than five or so is usually too much. If they're just options, 10 or more can be okay. It's easier to answer a survey like "Which of these people have you heard of?" with 30 options than a survey like "What would you do in this situation?" with 30 options. |
| ROCKMAN | posted 29-Dec-2005 5:43am Other, it depends on the survey. I've done some with only a few choices and I've done some with probably 25 choices. I TRY to cover every possible choice but I usually end up missing one that someone will bring up after it has already came out of qual. |
| mve17 | posted 29-Dec-2005 10:09am What makes a survey gay? |
| Jinny | posted 29-Dec-2005 12:52pm I can never make a, Oh me n this spelling thing I give up........ |
| teatree | posted 29-Dec-2005 4:05pm Wouldn't it depend on the kind of survey you're creating? Some surveys just call for more options than others, some, such as an essay survey, call for none. |
| verouge | posted 29-Dec-2005 6:34pm It depends on the type of the survey itself, there is no absolute here. |
| llamamama | posted 29-Dec-2005 6:45pm It appears I was vague..oops..my bad.. |

Dummy. Heheheheh... just kidding! ![]() |
| llamamama | (reply to FauxLo) posted 29-Dec-2005 8:29pm Ouch, that hurt...*hit self* right here!

| Enigma | posted 29-Dec-2005 11:37pm It depends on the choices. Some people make damn funny surveys with hilarious choices. Others are just damn boring and you find yourself nodding off while trying to read them all because they go on forever and ever. |
| cloudhugger | posted 29-Dec-2005 11:57pm I believe it would depend entirely on what the survey is about... |
| cloudhugger | (reply to llamamama) posted 30-Dec-2005 12:02am Guess it depends on what the survey is about. |
| llamamama | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 30-Dec-2005 12:13am Yep..'twas established..haha |

| iamdonte | posted 30-Dec-2005 12:47am depends on the survey |
| cabinfever | posted 30-Dec-2005 2:39am I'd say 10+, because that many options gets tedious to read. That is what the 'other' option is for. |
| Halifax | posted 31-Dec-2005 5:13am never seen too many so im not sure. |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 1-Jan-2006 5:22pm I do not know 5 hundred or fewer choices I guess and who really knows, I want my choice if I can have it |
| Dino | posted 1-Jan-2006 6:36pm More than 7. |
| southernyankee | posted 1-Jan-2006 11:26pm 65 |
| Zang | posted 2-Jan-2006 12:04am I'm not sure that I've ever seen one so far. At least, apart from ranking surveys. Ranking surveys should be kept to...I don't know... ten or fewer...maybe eight...something like that.
Otherwise, more than a hundred would probably be pretty cumbersome. |
| mrtempler | posted 9-Jan-2006 11:58pm umm.........how many choices do i get to answer this one? |
| Analog | posted 15-Jan-2006 2:14pm It depends on the survey. Some surveys need lots of choices. Most only need a few. |
