No.
Number 13 once turned up to be lucky for me. I was doing this 'guess how many cinnamon hearts there is in a jar' and I was like 1313. I won. |

No, not really. I tend to notice 666, when I see it appear somewhere. But I'm not superstitious about it as I'm aware its just a number I recognise from films and stuff. |

I recognise 555 from films and stuff.

I'm not superstitious at all about numbers, but I do draw 'connections and associations' wherever they may exist. (i.e. when I see 11:11 on my clock, I think of my friends' birthdays - Chad and Steven, as well as 11:11 being the freaky cosmic number that it is in the numerology universe OR phone numbers on TV ads that contain the address number of the house I lived in twenty years ago - that kind of stuff) |
| Solololo | | posted 17-Dec-2005 8:15pm |
Oh... the "connections and associations" also have absolutely no relevance whatsoever, but command my conscious acknowledgement whether I like it or not. OCD isn't always a good thing. |

I'm not superstitious about anything, let alone a number.
I believe in the synchronicity of things, but I don't believe a certain number, or anything else, can continually influence an outcome. |

WHAT is "fnord"? I'd like to know why Asians are superstitious about 4 if anyone knows. I personally am not fond of the number of the beast... |

Thanks for asking those questions, because I was kinda wanting to know those too. |

Ah, fnord...
I first ran across "fnord" in The Illuminatus Trilogy, but I think it originated in the Principia Discordia.
The idea is that there are lots of little fnords everywhere.. in text all over the place, painted on walls... but you're not aware that you can see them. They cause fear and anxiety. Of course, the word isn't really "fnord", because you can't see it and you can see "fnord". A few people manage to break their conditioning to the point where they can see the "fnords".
check out Wikipedia
The link to 23 is from Illuminatus! - 23 is a special number, only in as much as it seems to pop up a lot - and the more you're on the lookout for 23's, the more you'll find them. |

You would have thought that I, as an avid listener of Coast To Coast, would have known this. Lord knows I've heard enough of the Illuminate on that show! |

I'm not superstitious about any numbers, but my favorite numbers are 3, 7, and 9. |

Not really, allthough in certain situations, I really don't like to deal with prime numbers, or even just odd numberd for some reason. For instance, when I set the volume on the tv or something along those lines. Probabbly more of an OCD thing than a superstition though.
I guess that inclues 13 ;-/. For better or for worse, the numbers 13 and 17 tends to stick out to me. |

Odd choices here.
Otherwise, I don't really take much notice of numbers, so I'm definitely not superstitious. Almost to a flaw, as my ability to memorize or retain numbers is just dreadful. When I need to remember, I have to consciouslly notice them and find a memory trick.
For example, I needed to remember my Aunt's address - 2516, to pick her up. Yeah, I could've written it down, but, I didn't. So my memory trick was to break it down into two numbers - each a pivotal age. 25 & 16.

I'm not superstitious, I guess, but numerology is far to real to deny. It is the sacred geometry, the very basis of life, and to end this note I will say that 666 being the beast is nothing but Hollywood. 666 in numerology = man and if you think man is evil, than 666 is evil. I like 11, it means the angels are with you. It reminds me I am never alone. 23 is the greatest basketball player of all time on the Chicago Bulls, his number is retired. I do have cetain favorite numbers, but none cause me to shudder in fear. |
