| thevelvetcure | posted 28-Oct-2005 1:42am No, sorry, I couldn't join last year, & this year I surely can't afford the postage, not with school & my bills |
| Irene007 | posted 28-Oct-2005 1:47am Here's the link to last years (for you lazy people!);
http://surveycentral.org/survey/19675.html Here's the list I posted last year; I like silverware, antiques of any kind (just for the history of it- it could be an old bus token/ticket, a reproduction of a print, an old piece of junk dish that's been in your Mom's kitchen and somehow ended up in yours and YOU HATE IT!...) I collect coins from around the world (and old ones too) I love pretty boxes (for no reason - I just do) I collect old bottles and new, pretty ones. I love the blues. I love books (history, ocean travel, reference). I enjoy chocolate and treats not common to my market (Montreal). I enjoy cooking (especially getting samples along with the recipe! *hint-hint*) Yeah... I drink too! So what! Wanna make something outta it?!? Mmmmm.... Beer.... *drool* I love the bush and everything relating to it. (do not misconstrue "bush" with the president) I'm into graphic arts. Old photographs and new black and white ones. I really like homemade crafts (NOT doilies...) I wear make-up, jewellery (silver), perfume and clothes... daily. I love my cat. I want to win the lottery. I don't mind rainy days (as long as I'm in the bush). I hate fake. The etymology of words is another one of my passions. I love Ben... Hmmm... I think I'll go see what he's up to! *tear in my eye* I miss him... |
| Amanda | posted 28-Oct-2005 1:54am Okay, I'm in this year. |
| Amanda | (reply to Irene007) posted 28-Oct-2005 1:58am (((((BIG HUGS)))))
You know, I was just thinking about Ben the other day. I miss seeing you talk about him all the time. It was always so awesome to see how much love there was between you two. |
| Irene007 | (reply to Amanda) posted 28-Oct-2005 2:00am (((((BIG HUG BACK)))))
I needed that just now.... I may not talk about him much but he's on my mind all the time. I sure miss him... He was my best friend. |
| Amanda | (reply to Irene007) posted 28-Oct-2005 2:06am Oh, I know he's always on your mind and that you still love him with all your heart. I wish there was something I could do to take the pain away. You know we are always here for you when you want to talk, vent, yell, scream, get drunk, or anything else. I love you, Irene!!! |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 28-Oct-2005 2:20am Maybe,,,,I'll get back to you before the deadline. |

| iamdonte | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 29-Oct-2005 10:32am With my luck, one never knows. Let me think about it. I did enjoy the giving part. Was fun to have someone so excited with what I sent. |

| moonstone | (reply to iamdonte) posted 31-Oct-2005 11:31am I like Maarten's idea...My gift can be for Ethan if that's cool with the gift giver....
He's 4... loves music, drawing, coloring, trains and is obsessed with the movie School of Rock and Jack Black. |
| iamdonte | (reply to moonstone) posted 31-Oct-2005 11:40am Now there is a thought. I guess I can understand that whoever had my name didn't like me and didn't want to send me anything, but it is hard to turn down a child regardless. I'm still thinking about it, though. |
| kirst | (reply to they) posted 31-Oct-2005 6:27pm My person never sent anything. I had several emails from Carol...the person was going to try to send something after Christmas,etc...but I finally said not to bother. Don't know what the happened with my Secret Santa...maybe he/she was having personal problems or something. Thus I'm hoping that my Secret Santa this year actually participates. |
| moonstone | (reply to iamdonte) posted 31-Oct-2005 8:42pm Yea, it's a cool option to consider. |

| iamdonte | posted 15-Nov-2005 10:56am I collect rocks - mainly minerals that are unpolished such a malachite, tourmaline, charoite, sugalite, uvarivite garnet, zoisite, etc...I like polished stuff that are about the size of a quarter (pocket rocks). I love quarts clusters that are small a delicate. I'm also an artist and I like nifty colors of acrylic paints, pastels, charcoals. My favorite color is purple. I love mystery books.
What would really be nifty is a large t-shirt to sleep in 2x or 3x. One from your state/province/country would be awesome! |
| Updown | (reply to CarolL) posted 16-Nov-2005 10:47am Aha! I will do just that. |
| patarnone | posted 18-Nov-2005 3:50pm Sure, count me in!
I'm very easy... I want things that always remind me of the giver. Who ever I get, I already know what I'm sending. |

| cabinfever | posted 20-Nov-2005 12:12am Alright, I'm in too... |
| Hollywood_l40 | posted 20-Nov-2005 12:17pm sounds like fun |
| cabinfever | posted 21-Nov-2005 11:37pm Forgot to add: Irene suggested posting what you like to give ideas... If Santa would rather buy a gift for my daughter, I'm very cool with that... she's three and loves all animals... from alligators to zebras, but especially horses and cats. I'm into horses, cats, and dolphins, and I love the work of Anne Geddes. And dark chocolate! |
| kirst | posted 22-Nov-2005 12:34am Suggestion to my Secret Santa...a children's book or small toy item for my kids would be great. James is 2 and loves trains, cars, animals (especially elephants) and buses. Claire is 5 and loves art, music, animals and books. |
| caviartaste | posted 22-Nov-2005 4:02pm I should be pretty easy this year. My big new obsession is beads, beading, and jewelry making supplies of ANY kind. Craft stores are my new-found mecca for this. I even like old junk jewelry from yardsales and thriftstores....as long as the beads and/or pendants are in good shape and can be taken apart and restrung...but I ESPECIALLY love nice old granny-looking beads (even if they're in broken strands) that some folks have stashed in the attic from days gone by. These types of things always allow me to make one of a kind type things - which I love to do.
....and I also still love all things East Indian or Moroccan style....and I also collect fiestaware. I'm really not too picky about gifts, and I think it's the thought that counts the most. I tend to ramble on about beads because it's my latest passion, and sometimes one person's junk truly can be another's treasure. |
| cloudhugger | posted 27-Nov-2005 11:16am It is easier to name things I don't want. I don't want Christmasy stuff, or girly stuff ie:makeup. I have far too many likes and hobbies to mention. AND NOTHING SCENTED!! My SO has allergies so do not send anything that will smell, I won't be abl e to open it up and I will just have to give it away sight unseen. If you want to get something for the kids...I have cats. I think you are all wonderful, so something from the heart will do just fine.
Oh, I do love music boxes. Anything mechanical, or pretty. I don't want to get picky, so if you are still not clear, email carolL and have her ask me. |

Aw... You know I'm in!
AND FOR THE REST OF YOU;
Post something about yourselves, what you do, your hobbies, the things that you like to surround yourself with - what you like, NOT what you want but rather, what turns you on.
Ex.: I stated that I liked silverware, not expecting to get anything like that but my Secret Santa sent me a jar of homemade jam with a silver spoon found at a local rummage sale - it's now my official jam spoon for special occasions! (and the jam was delicious too!)
Divulging these things about yourself helps the SS to find something that would be "right down your alley".
List what you collect - what your hobbies are - what you like to read, what kind of music you listen to, what kinds of foods you like, what type of work you do - what things in life "tickle your fancy"!
PS: For Canadians wanting to send any food items to the States, you need a special form to fill out (in advance) - so skip this kind of gift or it'll be a real hassle... I know, I tried last year!
