Late 90's to early 00's was when I was watching it - Stone Cold Steve Austin was our favourite. I even liked it enough to actually go to events when they came to Manchester and met a few wrestlers. I stopped watching it years ago though. |

I liked pre 80's. Those were fun days. I didn't care for the early 80's till after the ninteys because then they came out with the biographys of Hulk H. and Andre. I would have liked to meet Andre, he seemed like and incredibly sweet guy. Otherwise, wrestling sucks. |

It's not the fact that I don't like WWF... its actually that I HATE WWF.. with a passion... it's Cringe worthy to me! It's mostly just ten year old boys and ( forgive me) "hickish Men" or " Simpletons" that are freakishly finatic about this, ( I know I shouldn't stereotype! oops!) Sorry to all the wrestling fans out there.. I'm just soo not into wrestling thats all... Just one woman's opinion! |

Those were some fun characters. I watched some with my stoner friend. He knew everybody and even took me to a match or two. |
| patarnone | | posted 14-Sep-2005 1:50pm |
I watched wrestling with Jake "The Snake" Roberts, The Iron Sheik was champ, The Mulkie Brothers were still a team, Kamala was around, Gorilla Monsoon commentated, and wrestling was on late at night from a one room set in Atlanta. Sounds like the early 1980's to me!
I loved Paul Ellering and The Road Warriors.
We lost interest when wrestling became really big business. |

I just saw a movie preview with the Rock in it, I think I did, it was so quick I didn't get to see much of anything but I heard his name mentioned. There was stuff blowing up too. I will have to find out more! |

The first and second options. I haven't watched in years. |
| justjulie |
yeah!!
omg holly....you have no idea how much of a wrestling freak my brother is. i totally grew up on the stuff, and he'll be 30 this year, and still watches it religiously.
i remember such names as...Jake "the snake" Roberts, Ravishing Rick Rude, of course RIc Flair, KoKo B.Ware, Superfly Jimmy Snooka (or how ever the hell you spell it...)....anyhow....yeah, there were a couple of hotties back then. I always just wanted to lick the paint right off the Ultimate Warrior's face...rawr, that and pinch his nipples. |
| judgescratch |
...funny... |
| BerrieGrrl | | (reply to justjulie) posted 15-Sep-2005 2:42pm |
you'd make lee so proud listing off all those names! just like chicks with soap operas, it's sooooooo addicting! in fact, wrestlmania 22 is in chicago this year, and we were actually talking about going cuz tickets go on sale next month...i think liam would have a heart attack if he saw that! |

As ridiculous as I thing professional "wrestling" is now, it certainly played a big part of my pre-teen and early teenage years. I look back fondly on the days when Hulkamania ran wild. Many a Weekend morning was spent in front of the television watching the superstars of the WWF, which was closely followed by me suplexing my brother onto my parents bed. I even had the good fortune to attend Wrestlemania 3 (That's right, the one where Hulk Hogan Body Slammed Andre the Giant), quite possibly the finest sporting event of the 80's. It was fun when I was a kid. Now I think it's sad when grown adults plan their schedules around RAW (or whatever the hell it's called) Nitro. |

> i you for making a wrestling survey...do you watch?
I don't watch that much WWE any more. But I do order TNA PPVs every once in a while. I think their six sided ring is awesome! I like TNA alot because it reminds me alot of WCW. The show has a "southern" feel to it that the WWE lacks.
|
| justjulie |
hehehehehehe!!!
i have to agree w/ you about the whole soap opera thing. i stayed w/ my bro and susan for a week last month, and of course we watched wrestling one night. i was just dying, for what i saw was, one guy who i've never seen before in the ring, "yelling" at another guy i've never seen before, about some kid and woman, both of whom of never seen before either....some paternity thing or something. i thought it was hilarious!
i can't believe it's in chicago this year!!!! i wonder if my brother knows....when is the actual date of the show?
(and holy cow...liam would FLIP!!!!!!!) |
| BerrieGrrl |
i know tna is starting to be on on saturdays or something, isn't it? i use to watch wcw a lot. my kid's really into wwe now, too, though, so we rarely miss it. |
| BerrieGrrl | | (reply to justjulie) posted 16-Sep-2005 9:14am |
it's in april...i will let you know. and yeah, that was the whole eddie gurrero/rey mysterio thing...eddie's the real father of rey's little boy, blah blah blah. people had "who's your papi?" shirts which i thought was hilarious. |
| Amanda |
Sweet ass! I haven't been keeping up with what's coming out, but will have to see what it is. If Rock's in it, it's a must see for me! |
| bcollins | | posted 16-Sep-2005 8:30pm |
I've never watched wrestling except for a few minutes here & there at other homes. It doesn't play on any of the local channels, in fact you need cable or satellite to get these shows. |

ok...i understand the shirt now!
thanks! |

Yeah, TNA is going to be on Spike TV as apart of their "Slamin' Saturday Night" line-up. I'm glad that we are gonna have another option besides WWE.

Wrestling now is ok, but it's toooo commercialised...way too much soap opera.
Granted Hulk Hogan is the most famous wrestler.
Andre the Giant was just that. a GIANT...(for those who remember Gordon Solley (he was a commentator) he did an interview with Andre and asked him about what an average dinner would be) I think it was enough to feed 4 men. or more.
Macho Man Randy Savage (can't forget Miss Elizabeth...his wife & Manager)
And too take you even farther back.....Rick Flair (Nature boy) he was wrestling back in the early 70's.
And too name a few more, Jimmy Snukka, Cowboy Bill Watts, Eddy and Mike Graham (Father & Son team), the Funk Brothers, Dusty Rhodes (the Junk Yard Dog)! |

I liked the Junkyard Dog - that was the Hogan era - early early. Haven't watched it in years, before it was just stupid fun now it's just too sexed up. |
| hypersky | | posted 22-Sep-2005 11:09pm |
Wrestling sucks, but if I have to chose I'd be Old School (early 1970s): Edouard Carpentier and Géant Ferré (André the Giant), Killer Kowalski, Mad Dog Vachon. I liked wrestling when it was bare-bones kitsch (and when I was 7), not the steroid-enhanced crap that passes for wrestling these days. Call me an old fart if you want... |
| Rose_Lee | | posted 28-Sep-2005 2:12pm |
The Undertaker is my favorite wrestler, but John Cena is a close 2nd! I didn't like it when Undertaker did the biker thing though. |

I haven't ever seen a wrestling show and I doubt I ever will. I have better ways to spend my time. From what I've been told, wrestling is all fake and scripted anyway. I might as well waste my time watching a soap opera instead. |
