Fight back.....well try to fight back........I would use what I was taught in my Aikido classes to disarm him.....or try....I have never actually had to use Aikido to defend my self.

Definitely would wonder how Irene would handle this. Being my soul counterpoint here I might consider emulating her actions. I would guess she would crack a joke, then kick their sorry butt, then have a beer. That is what I think I would do, but then again who knows. I have thought about it, it is possible that someday the potential of that happening could happen. I pray I wouldn't panic so I could kick their sorry butt, then be functioable enough to go have a cold one.

I don't know. Maybe fight back. I'm sure I would be terrified and break out in a cold sweat. I might try to talk to or reason with the person with the pistol.

I'd close my eyes, grit my teeth and prepare for the worse.. but I would pray my ass off, and try to reason with the perp..you better believe it.

Stand up straight and look them firmly in the eye. I believe in reincarnation, so I have no fear of death.

First off, I need a lot more information about what is going on. If it's a robbery, "Here, take it... it's not much, but it's all I got."

If I just happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, with a gun pointed at me, I'd probably do whatever was demanded until escape was possible.

I have a CWP (Concealed Weapon's Permit) so a lot would depend on if I'm "carrying."

No one can accurately say how they would REALLY respond until they are in that situation, could they? For me, I would freeze...I think. I did take a karate defense class but that was a long time ago and don't know if I would trust myself to "make the right move". I guess it also depends on my surroundings and the individual(s) 'holding me up'.

Absolutely agree. You could say you would do this or that, but until the moment of truth' arrives, you will find out what would really happen.

I would probably put my hands up and follow their instructions...within reason. It would depend a lot on the circumstances. I'd probably react differently if it were a policeman than if it were a small child...

Raise my hands and say, "Hey! Put that thing down--you could get somebody hurt!" * grin *

But seriously, in that moment of panic, I don't know what I'd do--I guess I'd do what the person would say do--just to save my own life.

I'd probably either try to talk them down, or do something totally stupid and irrational like trying to grab the gun.

other: try to stay calm.....try to keep the person holding the pistol VERY calm. Find out why they have a pistol in my face....and go from there...hopefully talking my way out of the situation. That would be my first approach. If talking my way out of it wasn't working, and I was sure they were going to kill me anyway, then I would fight back like a hellcat!!

I'd try to diffuse the situation by saying something cliché like;

"Is that a gun in your hand or are you just unhappy to see me?"

 * wry smile * ...well? What do you expect under pressure?!?

I just read something yesterday. It said to take your wallet out and throw it as far as you can. That way, they go for the wallet, then you run like hell zig zag and they probably can't hit a moving target.

It was one of those paranoid emails sent out for saving women's lives. I generally don't read them because they tend to be redundant. But I filed that info in the back of my mind so I always have other options for emergencies. But I'm thinking I saw that move in a comedy once, the guy threw the wallet, and that's not what the perp wanted. It was funny.

I don't know how to spell the sound of it. It is when a comedian says a joke or a puchline and it is followed by the drummer hitting the drum twice ( ba dum) and then hitting the cybal once (tish). Get it?

jump out of the way and try to run or keep moving, apparantly the odds of an assailant hitting a running target at a reasonable distance are 4 in 100. but if they pointed the pistol at me straight in the face id probably move aside quickly and whack them with my hand :P

Meh, had this happen with a rifle involved. The reality of possible consequences had not kicked in at the time, so counter measures were implemented and the situation was soon rectified. Lucky me, that night... Although, the 'tough guy' probably wished for another outcome. lol

Drugs and firearms makes for an interesting evening. I wasn't involved with either, but my friend( prior to that night in question) was and I just happened to be at the wrong place and wrong time. Never made that mistake again, 'pick and choose wisely' I say.
