No, but my mother in law gave me a card I could use if I ever needed to, and said she would pay for it. It's in her name. She's so cool. * grin *

Yep, I have Roadside Assist and it has come in handy. We had a major blow out on the interstate and within 30 minutes someone was there with a new tire and changed it out.

Yes. CAA
Canadian Automotive Association

I'll be needing their services real soon too! I'm insured for the summer with them and will extend my insurance for my coming trip in October.
I used their services the other day when I left my lights on while shopping and my battery went dead.
It's a good investement!

Not exactly. I would have signed up for AAA, but VW has its own excellent roadside assistance program. I'm not sure when we stop getting it, though--possibly when the warrantee expires.

Nope. I'm also not a member of the automobile driving crowd, although when I was, I still didn't have this service. Well, maybe my Jetta came with a roadside service plan, I can't remember now.

I was just wondering if you would chime in with the VW info. I seem to recall that mine ran out with the warranty, but I never had to use it, so I'm not sure!

I haven't had to use it yet, either! I'll probably forget about it and find out the hard way that it's expired. That'll be the day I join AAA, though!

Have you had a good run of it so far with your car? I found myself a little dissatisfied with things, but I think it was more of a problem with my particular dealership than anything.

Yes and remember the white funky lettering "The Green Machine" on it? My friends used to call my car The Green Machine but said instead of getting money out of it I was always putting money into it. They thought that was funny (of course they wouldn't turn down the free ride * wink * ). Alas, in the end all that was left of it was a little pile of rust dust with a nut on top.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it's stick; I'm still fairly new to driving stick and I mostly find it annoying. But it's a great car and I have no complaints about it, really. I would complain about it being stick no matter what kind of car it was, especially since we live in a city with steep hills and bad traffic. It performs great, and apparently has some sort of virtual-dimension hatchback which can accommodate jovian bodies.

I don't own a car, so there wouldn't be much point. I do think that it is a valuable asset though. That roadside assistance really pays off!

I seem to lose all abilities of comprehension when faced with an automatic transmission. It's like my brain checks out until I'm out from behind the wheel. It takes guts to master something like that in a place like San Francisco! [Er, I think that's where you are...]

Yup, I'm in San Francisco.
I'm definitely getting better with the manual, but I'm still at the point where I have to think about it, so it still makes driving a hassle.

How long have you been working on it? The noise of grinding gears really saps my confidence!

A little over a year and a half. I don't need to drive very often, and it took a while for me to get started learning after we got the car. And I didn't drive at all for the first couple of months that we were in SF (we've been here almost a year). I'm fine on all but steep hills now, pretty much, although I still use the hand-brake for medium-sized hills. I tend not to grind the gears at least, though! * wink *
