What kind of notes did your parent/guardian write for you when you were absent (or going to be absent) from school?

My mother always wrote: Carol was absent because she was ill. Nothing more, nothing less. If I had a dentist appointment, it would say: Please excuse Carol on Tuesday morning as she has a dentist appointment.
The just sound so.....boring.

I graduated high school in 1970. There is no way I could possibly remember the text of any of the absent notes my grandmother wrote. I wasn't absent from school all that often anyway and I seldom, if ever faked being ill just to get out of school. It just wasn't worth it. If I said I was sick, then I had to spend the entire day in bed with no books, no T.V., broth for lunch and dinner and God forbid if my grandmother thought it was serious enough (even if I was faking it)...I would be dragged off to the doctor's office!

They just said I was going to be absent (or had been absent) and why.

No notes that I was aware of.

I don't remember. I had to be practically sick enough to be hospitalized in order to miss school. My mom couldn't afford a babysitter or to miss work so I went to school unless I had something contagious like chicken pox.

My father was pretty straight-forward; he always told the truth.

I wrote the notes when I was absent from school. I ditched through high school. Don't know how in the hell I graduated.

I guess I could have said "Please excuse Maria from school on Wednesday, she was at the lake, drinking beer and smoking pot. She will make up any work that she missed, thank you *insert mom or dad's name here*

Do I tell you a secret? although it won't be a secret when I will write it for 108 users!!
No one write for me, I wrote all my notes since I had 14y, of course my parents would know that I am absent but they let me write whatever I want (and sometimes they wouldn't know )..
Now, before I had 14y, they wrote a lot of notes for me, but I can't tell you because, so simply, i forget; I think it was like:
"To Miss ___
I am Marwan Chahine 's mother, I would like to inform you that my son was so sick so he couldn't come to the school, sorry...
Best Regards.."

Please excuse my daughter for being, it was her father's fault.

Usually just a summary of why I was off. Mum used to write me a note for PE every week that said my asthma was too bad, even when it wasn't true. I love my mum.

I don't remember. My mom worked at the grade school, so there was propably now need. High school. I haven't a clue.

I absolutely hated the note to excuse me from swimming that week because I had my period.

I would write them and they would just copy them because they were too lazy to think of what to write themselves. Other times I would write it myself. Usually something like 'Please excuse my daughter she is sick blah blah blah'.

"To Whom It May Concern...Heather Hamrick was absent yesterday from school due to illness" she wrote a lot of those notes for me.

It very rarely happened.

I don't remember any notes, and usually had excellent attendance, maybe sick a few times, but that was it.
