| Maarten | posted 2-Aug-2005 6:39pm It sounds black. |
| TeddyMiller | posted 2-Aug-2005 6:42pm The 'nee' instead of 'ney' spelling looks odd. |
| cerealkiller | posted 2-Aug-2005 6:43pm It sucks. Children should not be named cutsey names or those with weird spelling. It will be a problem for a lifetime. |
| dab | posted 2-Aug-2005 6:48pm It looks spelled wrong to me. |
| jettles | posted 2-Aug-2005 7:05pm not my style and i think i like the spelling better as "whitney". |
| Enheduanna | posted 2-Aug-2005 7:33pm |
| Coco | posted 2-Aug-2005 8:41pm I dont like it sorry |
| thevelvetcure | posted 2-Aug-2005 9:18pm The name spoken is somewhat old fashioned, the spelling is atrocious. |
| southernyankee | posted 2-Aug-2005 9:53pm sounds like an old stuffy British name. |
| iamdonte | posted 2-Aug-2005 10:17pm With the spelling, I am assuming that you mean for a girl...it's okay, just a little overused these days. |
| Zang | posted 2-Aug-2005 10:30pm I dislike it quite a bit. |
| bcollins | posted 2-Aug-2005 11:00pm I don't like the spelling. It looks contrived. |
| CGTREE | posted 2-Aug-2005 11:13pm I don't really like it that much, but I did know someone with that name and it did suit them. |
| FordGuy | posted 3-Aug-2005 8:38am I used to live on Whitneyville Road... |
| Jody | posted 3-Aug-2005 9:29am I think intentionally misspelled names invite a lifetime of the child correcting people every time they have to spell the name. |
| thecomic22 | (reply to thevelvetcure) posted 3-Aug-2005 9:34am > The name spoken is somewhat old fashioned, the spelling is atrocious.
i spelled it that way on purpose. i happen to like it. |
| CarolL | posted 3-Aug-2005 10:05am Too trendy around here. I like the name but I wouldn't pick it. I think of it as a girl's name. |
| CarolL | (reply to cerealkiller) posted 3-Aug-2005 10:07am I agree. My sons are Jack and Andy. Well, Andrew now. He insists on Andrew and did from the first day of school. |
| thevelvetcure | (reply to thecomic22) posted 3-Aug-2005 10:35am To each their own, but you did ask my opinion |
| thecomic22 | (reply to thevelvetcure) posted 3-Aug-2005 10:49am true true |
| icurok | posted 3-Aug-2005 11:41am The double 'e' ending is particularly chavvy. Miniskirts, large hoop earrings and scraped back hair come to mind. |
| kirst | posted 3-Aug-2005 11:50am It reminds me of a stripper/hooker/trailer trash name. |
| thecomic22 | (reply to kirst) posted 3-Aug-2005 11:53am thanks for the input cursed, i mean kirst. |
| kirst | (reply to thecomic22) posted 3-Aug-2005 11:58am anytime |
| gsummers | posted 3-Aug-2005 3:01pm I hate it Frankly.. not me at all.. but you like it.. so thats what counts. I like the name Roman but most would cringe..and I just couldnt name my kid ROMAN, its too 'pretentious?" but I love it still.. I like Oliver, its safe, classic but a whole lot of character.. Whitney seems like a 'spoiled brat name... like Tiffany or Amber..or Britney.. know what I mean? maybe for a boy tho. |
| gsummers | (reply to gsummers) posted 3-Aug-2005 3:06pm I hadn't even noticed that you wanted it Whitnee instead of Whitney.. I dont like the normal spelling never mind it puposely mispelled... I hate that anyways.. but what other names you like.. I'm sure they're are plenty of great ones.. but the Whinee the person was right..its too contrived. sorry..lets hear some more.. Philbert? ( just kidding) |
| gsummers | (reply to gsummers) posted 3-Aug-2005 3:07pm i'll check my spelling from now on.. its atrocious..but Im rushing!! |
| sexy1 | posted 3-Aug-2005 4:10pm not my style, sorry! |
| nonamejj18 | posted 3-Aug-2005 5:32pm meh its ok, just not something original |
| Matty | posted 3-Aug-2005 9:42pm I think it's misspelled. |
| msgman | posted 4-Aug-2005 2:34am It looks as though someone can't spell "Whitney". |
| verouge | posted 4-Aug-2005 7:25am Pretty, it sounds soft to the ear!! can I know why?? (just curious) |
| verouge | (reply to CarolL) posted 4-Aug-2005 7:28am I don't understand your idea, It looks good, "Andy" is a beautiful name, so is "Andrew"!!! |
| CarolL | (reply to verouge) posted 4-Aug-2005 9:51am The idea is that I called him Andy from the day he was born, but he asserted his independence when he started school by insisting that he be called by his full name, Andrew. |
| freebird | posted 4-Aug-2005 12:10pm It's nice but with the normal spelling--Whitney. I am not into making up new ways to spell names. Kids have a hard enough time in school as it is. |
| verouge | (reply to CarolL) posted 4-Aug-2005 5:05pm I want to say something, but don't take its wrong side, I like very much the name "Andy", I called my dog "Andy" till I would have a child/baby for me and called him/her "Andy", it's a name for both sex!! |
| CarolL | (reply to verouge) posted 4-Aug-2005 6:10pm Yes, I was thinking of calling him Andi if he was a girl.
I don't know if I would use a name I had already used for a pet. I had a cat named Murray because I was reasonable sure that I would not ever name my son that . lol |
| verouge | (reply to CarolL) posted 4-Aug-2005 6:29pm I don't think it matters, it's just a name, I have no problem to call my pet and my kid the same name, but not in the same time!! you get my message? |
| cloudhugger | posted 4-Aug-2005 7:01pm I don't. |
| CarolL | (reply to verouge) posted 4-Aug-2005 7:14pm yes |
| verouge | (reply to CarolL) posted 4-Aug-2005 7:17pm ok |
| gambler | posted 6-Aug-2005 7:08pm You mean besides the fact, that its spelt wrong? and if it isn't, will be continually spelt wrong by people who have to write it down........... I 'm sorry, but people's names that are spelt " wrong" or go against the norm...just to be different do nothing for me.
Its like asking me, how do I like the name Dayvid? |
| mve17 | posted 9-Aug-2005 12:04pm its the same as whitney.. just spelt differently..some people are so original |
| ScubaScott | (reply to thecomic22) posted 9-Aug-2005 1:26pm You'd be better off going with something like "Tennessee". Or you could go with the more traditional spelling (Whitney) except when it comes time to fill out the birth certificate, you should conveniently leave out the "N". If you're gonna fudge the kid up with a name, you may as well go all out. |
| Iseult | posted 10-Aug-2005 11:27pm If you want something original, go out and pick a name that is obscure, don't mispell popular names. |
| Whitnee | posted 17-Aug-2005 3:38pm Just my opinion. I happen to like my name.....It got a bad wrap after Whitney Houston started smoking crack. I do admit sometimes I wish I was named something real different like "Ashalatimnaday"(no not REALLY! lol) There is no "wrong" or "right" way to spell a name, that is what makes you YOU. Unique. I've seen my name spelled so many ways, it's crazy! Whytnee...Whitney...Whitny. What about these names Bryan....Brian, Britany.....Britney, Dru...Drew, Jayson.....Jason, Ethen.....Ethan, Robin...Robyn, Jon......John, Deborah...Debrah, Barbara...Barbra. Well you get it. |
| Dino | posted 28-Aug-2005 6:22am Its super tacky and trashy |
| patarnone | posted 3-Sep-2005 6:33pm The sound "whit-nee" is nice. |
| Whitnee | (reply to Dino) posted 11-Sep-2005 5:07pm wow! That's harsh. |
| gambler | (reply to Whitnee) posted 11-Sep-2005 9:17pm I'm curious?, how did you know to answer this survey, did you find it on search engine? do you know the survey creator? |
| Irene007 | (reply to icurok) posted 13-Sep-2005 7:36am > The double 'e' ending is particularly chavvy. Miniskirts, large hoop

| icurok | (reply to Irene007) posted 13-Sep-2005 9:30am All you need to know is held within these sacred pages:
http://www.chavscum.co.uk/index.php Pay particular attention to the page "Naming your chav baby". |
| Irene007 | (reply to icurok) posted 13-Sep-2005 9:33pm Bof... Sounds like a chavvy name for tacky!! I have noticed a trend that seems to portrait trashy people and their trashy lives... It's like the "in" thing on TV nowadays. I like PBS and shows like Nova... "Dog the Bounty Hunter" just doesn't do it for me. |
| icurok | (reply to Irene007) posted 14-Sep-2005 10:07am You've lost me... |
| Irene007 | (reply to icurok) posted 14-Sep-2005 7:38pm > You've lost me...
http://www.dogthebountyhunter.com/intro.php Chavvy or what? Gotta see his beatch! |
| icurok | (reply to Irene007) posted 15-Sep-2005 6:53am He's not a chav. I'm not sure what you'd call him. A hick, perhaps?
This article probably explains it better. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chav |
| Irene007 | (reply to icurok) posted 15-Sep-2005 7:18am Very interesting! It does also mean trailer trash (look lower in the origin of the word) and he's definitely it!! Hick is just someone from the country who lacks savvy but trailer trash is, uh... well just totally yuck! |
| thecomic22 | (reply to gambler) posted 15-Sep-2005 12:05pm actually we dont know each other, but it's sure ironic isint it? lol. |
| thecomic22 | (reply to Irene007) posted 15-Sep-2005 12:07pm hmmm, are you from the country? funny you seem to know much about it & how the people are. we're not all hicks people. tv stereotypes crap to much. |
| icurok | (reply to Irene007) posted 15-Sep-2005 12:38pm I wouldn't say it was the equivalent of trailer trash, because we don't have trailer parks over here. It's a completely different culture. Chavs are urban, not rural. Wigger is probably closer, as the closest thing I've seen to a chav in the US is the guy in the "Pretty Fly for a White Guy" video. Although being a chav isn't just about the clothes you wear, it's the attitude (which is intimidatory and anti social). |
| gambler | (reply to thecomic22) posted 15-Sep-2005 6:59pm almost too ironic...................... |

You seem to know a lot about Chav too!! |
| icurok | (reply to Irene007) posted 22-Sep-2005 1:40pm It's not really all that subtle. Just imagine a young lad aged about 16 with all the grace, sophistication, education and aspiration of a redneck but dressed like a 'wigger' and living on an inner city estate.
Here are two more good sites which have their own perspective. Be sure to checking out the visitors' stories, although bear in mind the write the dialogue in the phonetic dialect which can make it nigh impenetrable for outsiders. http://www.newcastlestuff.com/charver/index.html http://www.glasgowsurvival.co.uk/ |
| Irene007 | (reply to icurok) posted 26-Sep-2005 9:02am Ha! That was pretty funny! We have our own version of Neds here too only we just call them white trash! |
| thecomic22 | (reply to gambler) posted 28-Sep-2005 11:41am yea it is like a 1 in a million kinda thing i must admit. prolly wouldint happen again ever. lol. maybe i should go check if somebody named Tennessee replied. lol. |
| gambler | (reply to thecomic22) posted 28-Sep-2005 5:54pm Maybe...... |
| thecomic22 | (reply to gambler) posted 30-Sep-2005 11:39am that would be TOO funny |
