| Enheduanna | posted 17-Jul-2005 1:56am Keep watching the TV, where the sounds obviously came from. |
| Dino | posted 17-Jul-2005 6:45am Usually think its fireworks or something else. |
| cloudhugger | posted 17-Jul-2005 11:00am My ears would perk up and I would listen for more. I used to live alot closer to the city, and potentially there was a high risk factor of guns going off where they should not. Now I am near where there is alot of hunting (legal) so when I do hear it, I am alert so I take extra caution not to walk the dogs towards that direction. |
| Coco | posted 17-Jul-2005 11:48am When I here a gun shot it's my friends practicing for hunting!!! So I know that it is ok !! |
| ROCKMAN | posted 17-Jul-2005 12:58pm I don't do anything usually. It would depend too on how close it was and where I was. |
| Zang | posted 17-Jul-2005 5:08pm I continue doing whatever it was I was doing at the time. |
| Amanda | posted 17-Jul-2005 6:09pm I don't do anything. I hear gunshots quite often. A lot of times I won't even notice them until someone else brings it to my attention. Growing up where I did, around the people I did, hearing gunshots became a natural part of life that you don't really think about. If I were in town and heard gunshots and could figure out where they were coming from, I might report it to the police. |
| Enigma | posted 17-Jul-2005 9:31pm The only time I've ever heard gunshot sounds is at the gun club where they belong. I wouldn't mistake a car backfiring or any other sound with that as I am familiar with it. |

| verouge | posted 18-Jul-2005 5:01am I check myself, my body, if it touches me or not!! hehehe |
| Galomorro | posted 18-Jul-2005 9:06am Think it is probably fireworks or a car backfiring and usually ignore it. Especially figure it's fireworks around the times of New Year, Chinese New Year, or other Chinese celebrations, since I live near Chinatown. |
| judgescratch | posted 18-Jul-2005 9:14am Try to guess if it was something else (a car backfiring? fireworks?)
Ask someone what it sounded like I do something else...just stop and ponder and listen for a few moments more to see if I can assess with more clarity what the sound was. |
| EyesOfCharisma | posted 18-Jul-2005 11:34am I jump on the floor, and slowly creep to the phone... I then call 911, and scream for th epolice to come and find out what is going on.... ahhahah j/k umm.. I say 'Oohh a gun shot' and forget about it completely 2 seconds later |
| Jemmy | posted 18-Jul-2005 12:51pm I try to decide what else it was. |
| thevelvetcure | posted 18-Jul-2005 5:38pm Assume that it's a car bacffring or some punk kid blowing off their fingers. |
| bill | posted 19-Jul-2005 11:20am This time of year, assume it's fireworks. Other times of the year, assume it's hunters. |
| Irene007 | posted 19-Jul-2005 12:55pm Guess about what it could be... It's not very likely to be gun shots but sometimes I wonder. |

That's not really funny but it sure gives us a little insight on what you experience regularly... well, maybe in the past. |

| gsummers | posted 6-Aug-2005 4:37pm I've never heard sounds of gun shots. ( except for T.V ) but if I did hear that sort of noise I would probably just jump a little with a start. |

| patarnone | posted 6-Sep-2005 9:38pm Hit the deck!
Yell, "Duck, they're not ours!" Return fire. Usually in that order. |
| jduPres | posted 2-Oct-2005 9:52pm I'd call the police if it was during hunting season. There has always been a problem with hunters trespassing onto my property even though it's posted. The police average at least three arrests each and every deer season just from my property alone. I'd call the police if I heard gunfire off season, too. I've also had problems with poachers, people hunting out of season and those who use the wooded area for target practice. |
| kitti723 | posted 4-Nov-2005 4:50pm I recently experienced this after Hurricane Rita. There was marshall law and some looting from what I understand. I was lying in bed the night after the hurricane passed, hot, no electricity, not safe enough to open the windows, too many mosquitos anyway and sure enough, gunshot. unmistakeably. i took another sedative. |
| FauxLo | posted 29-Nov-2005 3:36am It depends... if it sounds REALLY close, I get away from the windows. If it sounds like it's in the distance... I continue with whatever it is that I'm doing. |
