It depends on where you're talking about.

Secure with me, yes. I shred documents, I'm careful about the location of my cards and info.

Secure with vendors who I buy things from? Not really.

Secure with the processing companies? Mostly... certainly it's not 100% secure anywhere. But as long as the processors are conforming to the credit card company rules, it'd take a lot of effort to swipe my info from them (which happened to a lot of people recently when a processor didn't obey the rules).

with the credit card company/bank itself? After me, that's where I feel it's least at risk.

No. No one's is. But the great thing is that given how many people's credit card information is readily available to criminals, the odds of them using mine are pretty low. That being said, I have had my credit cards used fraudulently three times; twice for phone calls (one was a $100 call from Abu Dhabi!) and once for internet porn. I had no trouble getting the company to reverse the charges, so it really wasn't that big a deal.

I doubt that any credit card information is secure no matter how hard you try. You can shred documents, cut up cards, etc, but once you use them, you have no idea how the merchant/vendor will deal with your information. I know that, for me, since I purchase many things online, I have a credit card that I use that I have requested only have a certain dollar amount as my limit and that I do not ever want it to be bumped up to a higher amount. That way if someone gets my information through online purchases, they can only take me for that amount and nothing more. I also have a debit card that I use to make purchases. I do this by keeping an account at a different bank with a limited amount deposited.

As secure as it can be, I guess.

Honestly, I don't really care. I really don't see what the big deal is about identity theft. Fraudulent charges can be contested and reversed. I've also contested items on my credit report and had them removed very easily. Maybe people that suffer long term from identity theft just don't know how to correct the problems.

There's no 'feel' about it. It isn't secure as it should be.

I don't use any credit cards. I don't like the idea that I would be paying for something long after its purchase.

Maybe............though I had my bank here cancel mine and re-issue a new one because someone had "tapped" into VISA international and my card number was one of the ones stolen?
