| Irene007 | posted 11-Jul-2005 12:41am No to both...
Before I met my husband, my motto was; "Meet them, fudge 'em and dump 'em then let them think that they had you!" (dumb fudges...) |
| LindaH | posted 11-Jul-2005 12:43am No to both |
| Zang | posted 11-Jul-2005 1:05am Sort of. I've had someone write me a letter after we ended the relationship face to face. I suppose she just had a few more things she wanted to "get off her chest". Funny thing is...I can't remember which one it was. I suspect I kept the letter. I seem to recall that she had some nice things to say and made some poignant observations. |
| verouge | posted 11-Jul-2005 2:23am I don't like writing letters although it always contains the full truth when ending a relation, but the problem is that it always misses the "communication", there is no time of dialogue (I and you) in letters, there is always one hero (the sender), this doesn't make a solution for both of partners because one of them will be not satisfied and need to say something more...
I prefer a final date or meeting in the first place they met to solve their problem (this will remind them of all the things they had together). |
| icurok | posted 11-Jul-2005 6:52am I've received an email ending things! How crapty was that? |

| Amanda | posted 11-Jul-2005 2:48pm Yes, I wrote a letter ending a relationship and I still feel really bad about it. I went to school with Brent and we were good friends. We let it go to the next step a couple years ago. He got stationed in Germany and I couldn't deal with it. Instead of telling him on the phone or waiting until he came home on leave, I wrote him and ended it. He's nice enough when he sees me, but he tells me he's still hurt by how I handled it. |
| dab | posted 11-Jul-2005 3:07pm I still have the letter around here somewhere. I really already knew from other things but the letter was painful anyway. On the night I received it, a rather chilly February night in Massachusetts, I left the house and just started walking north. Didn't have a destination in mind but I had to walk. Maybe I'd make it to the arctic circle I thought. After a while I'd reduced my expectation to just Canada. Then New Hampshire. Finally I was tired of walking in Tewksbury and turned around and started home. I later drove the route and found that I'd walked 22 miles.
A couple years later when I was sitting home on a Saturday, bored because another girlfriend had left me, I remembered having walked past a small airport on that walk. So I drove out there and started flying lessons and flying has been a large part of my life ever since. |
| Dino | posted 11-Jul-2005 3:22pm No, not by letter. |
| Matty | posted 11-Jul-2005 4:01pm no, this has never happened to me. |
| autumnlight | posted 12-Jul-2005 6:39am No. If I ever got a letter I would just go and smack them in the face with it for being so gutless. |

| Enigma | posted 16-Jul-2005 11:50pm I broke up with a guy once, properly. He wouldn't accept it and kept bothering by coming to my place and leaving sometimes drunk and nasty answering machine messages. I wrote him a letter and put it under his door. It didn't stop him completely but at least he stopped coming to my loft. The next step would have been the cops. |
