| nonamejj18 | posted 14-Jun-2005 4:00pm can't complain, i'm sure i will once my parents cut off funds |
| Biggles | posted 14-Jun-2005 4:39pm I'm a student so I'm very hard to classify. In terms of my income it's all my student loan which was just £2700 this year as my parents messed up my application. I have to pay it back, so it isn't really mine. So technically I have no money, just debt. Which would normally imply that I was poverty level, but I'm still dependent on my parents and am also receiving subsidised food and education. But I'm not "low income" because I don't have a real income. I come from a low income family, but in the last couple of years that's probably moved onto being a low-middle income family. But I consider myself largely independent from that unit, even though I am dependent in some ways. It's very complicated, and I really can't classify myself on this scale at the moment! Ask me again in 5 years |
| Enheduanna | posted 14-Jun-2005 4:49pm Middle income. If it were just me, it would be low income, but fortunately my SO makes the big bucks, so my lifestyle is very middle-income. I've managed to live a fairly middle-income lifestyle most of the time I've been a grad student, thanks to the generosity of friends and family. |
| justjulie | posted 14-Jun-2005 5:19pm i wouldn't |

| cerealkiller | posted 14-Jun-2005 5:47pm This survey can be taken various ways. It seems to be directed mainly at salary but you could also throw in your total economic picture which could mean something entirely different. And, you have to 'classify' yourself to where you live too. I would be considered affluent if I lived in the South or Midwest, but here in California maybe I'm just in the upper of the middle income range. I still say there should have been a choice for "Upper middle". That is a totally separate classification fairly acknowledged out there. And, where does one classification stop and the next begin?
So, for salary I'm in the upper middle class I guess, but I work two jobs and we still live paycheck to paycheck. |
| CarolL | posted 14-Jun-2005 7:04pm Low income at the moment...unemployed |
| cloudhugger | posted 14-Jun-2005 7:18pm Prosperous! |
| Glassa | posted 14-Jun-2005 8:51pm Lower middle class. Probably around $35,000 but that's with a two income household. |
| Glassa | (reply to cerealkiller) posted 14-Jun-2005 8:54pm "but I work two jobs"
Oh, how dare you! |
| Matty | posted 14-Jun-2005 8:57pm Upper-Middle class |
| Galomorro | posted 14-Jun-2005 9:50pm Low income, leaning toward poverty level. |
| BerrieGrrl | posted 14-Jun-2005 11:02pm poverty level...i'm using this time while i'm living with my parents and have few bills to spend time with my kids while they're young and not in school. liam starts 4yr kindergarten this year, so once nora's ready i'll increase my hours and hopefully have enough money set aside to get my own place. i'd like to be out sooner, but if i can save enough to maybe get a condo or something instead of renting that'd be nice. we'll see...it really gets on my nerves sometimes being back in my parent's house, but when the alternative is god knows what, i'll live. |
| BerrieGrrl | (reply to justjulie) posted 14-Jun-2005 11:04pm good answer |
| kirst | posted 15-Jun-2005 12:34am Affluent, I'd guess. Probably more like "upper middle class", though. |
| Traviedoll | posted 15-Jun-2005 1:58am im so close to being homeless its not funny......... i wish my family would help me out a little while i try to find a job, but no, whatever, let me suffer *giggles nervously* |
| Amanda | posted 15-Jun-2005 5:31am Low income with a middle class lifestyle and no debts, other than my mortgage, so I'm content. |
| icurok | posted 15-Jun-2005 6:02am Middle income, I would say. We have a joint income of over $55k as my SO works part-time for a charity. |
| ROCKMAN | posted 15-Jun-2005 6:24am I'm not sure what you call middle income but I think I'm over it.
What would the cut off be? $100,000 a year? I make quite a bit of money on a lot of different things. I don't really want to say what my yearly income is, or my total net worth for that matter. You'd probably crap! |
| justjulie | (reply to BerrieGrrl) posted 15-Jun-2005 7:10am |
| jettles | posted 15-Jun-2005 7:55am probably high middle income if you combine both my and my partner's salaries. we do fairly well and are very thankful for it. |
| iamdonte | posted 15-Jun-2005 10:16am affluently middle income |
| Jemmy | posted 15-Jun-2005 10:54am Middle? I don't really know. We rent our apartment from my grandparents, and so I'm sure the rent is a lot cheaper then it should be, because we help them out with stuff around the house. Actually, the mroe I think about it, I'm pretty sure we're low. Hmmmm.... |
| Zang | posted 15-Jun-2005 11:03am Low income |
| autumnlight | posted 15-Jun-2005 3:57pm Just above poverty level for most of my life, especially when my mum left my dad. Now I would say that I'm no poorer than any other student whose parents don't support them. |

| thevelvetcure | (reply to justjulie) posted 17-Jun-2005 1:08pm Was that really what you intended? Feeling spunky were we? ...I actually didn't think that's what it was, but couldn't think of anything else except for a really contemplative 'I' or you thought so highly of yourself that you felt no further need to say any more to us other than 'I' Both of which (especially the latter) I doubt. |
| justjulie | (reply to thevelvetcure) posted 17-Jun-2005 6:55pm spunky...hahaha...i love that word. actually was more a bit pissy than anything. i haven't taken it off of there, just for safe measure, for even though i'm not necessarily feeling that way right this second....the next second is something completely new and well.....am woman. |
