In 1993, I think, I stole a can of condensed milk. Since then I haven't been so poor - and now if I ever get so poor again I know of a bunch of temples and places where they provide free food.

A hankerchief from Goodwill when I was 5 years old. My grandmother took me back to the store, made me give it back and apologize, then took me home and gave me a whuppin'.

I really don't care to mention the exact item and place for privacy issues, but I will say this; scrubbing off the price sticker, which allthough won't get you the item free, can get you a pretty good discount. Anyway I don't do that anymore. After I've been busted once I sort of figured that maybe I should eventually stop doing that. I never seen the inside of a jail before and I intend on keeping it that way. Besides getting banned from stores really sucks, SO DON'T DO IT.

One thing thats fun though, is look around slightly suspicious and fiddle a lot with your hands and pockets. I did that once just to freak out one of my friends (and this was one of those kinky sex-toy stores). Another thing that's always fun is take free t-shirts and other free merchandise (that credit card companies tend to give to collage students if they sign up for their credit card, thus tons of junk mail) from their tables and slowly walk away. Once I took like 3 t-shirts (apparantly you only supposed to only take one) and people dont always give their real names/addresses * grin * . Eventually they caught on so now they actually take pictures of your id cards and watch their tables better. Still, at least you can't be charged with theft for getting caught (at least I dont think anyway) since techniclly its free stuff. And the moral is -- you can't beat the credit card compaines.

...awwww!

um... lets see... something.... ah, I probably have downloaded something illegal (movie or music)... pirating is stealing. But, I don't really do that very often, so I don't recall what or when that was. Possibly, "Heat Vision and Jack" a never-aired TV pilot. I'm not really sure what the legality of that was, but it's likely it was not legal.

I can't remember exactly but I think it must have been but a candy bar when I was younger (around 6-7 years old). If I had stolen something as an adult, I would remember.

If everyone jumped off a bridge, would you? Not everyone steals. I stole a candy bar when I was around 6-7 years old but never got to eat it. My mom caught me and took it away and punished me. Stealing is stealing.

A 2¢ candy when i was 12, succumbing to peer pressure from my cousin.
When i was five i think i made a deceptive effort to procure a stuffed dalmation lamp, but possibly it was given to me since my friends mom needed to move and worked as a trapeze artist.
At 14 I stood watch (an accomplice, I suppose) in the theft of a plant I didn't want to occur.

Next to nothing, pretty much.

I used one of my roommates onions to cook with Monday night. Although, that's not really stealing, because she uses my bread all the time. Then I guess it was a Sharpie from my office.

A glass of orange juice from work. I do it out of principle. We're only allowed to drink tap water - which is not proper drinking water and comes out of the tap cloudy. So until they give us drinking water, I drink juice.

What type of place do you work? Do you mean they will not supply you with drinking water or you can't bring your own? If the OJ isn't there for you to drink, why is it there?

My employer has an ice water machine in the cafeteria.. The water comes from tap, but I think it is filtered through the machine because it tastes a little different.

I wouldn't care if it was filtered anyway. My city's water is fantastic! When I lived out of state, I desperately missed my water!

I work in a cafe in a department store - so the oj is for the customers! We're not allowed to drink it, nor bring our own drinks in. We have two sinks - one for potwash and one for handwash, neither of which is proper drinking water and is cloudy and horrible, but that's the only thing we're permitted to drink. Some of the other departments have water coolers, but we haven't. So until they give us one, I drink the OJ.

I haven't got anyhting against tap water - I drink it all the time, but this particular water is not clear, so I dont feel comfortable drinking it.

I understand. I think that's pretty harsh that you aren't allowed to bring anything else in. If a customer wants water, do they have to buy it bottled, or do you give them the tap water too?

I'd steal OJ as well. * grin *
autumnlight
(reply to they) posted 20-May-2005 11:04am
They can buy it bottled, which most usually do - but we do give out tap water. I work in a rather posh store, so many customers would think it beneath them to order tap water though. Poncy gits!

I'm 60, so it was quite a while ago. We were on our way to San Francisco and the car broke down. Every last dime went for repairs. Shoplifted some sandwich stuff and ate Twinkies as we walked through the store. We were really hungry and panhandling wasn't happening back then.

He got the loaf of bread, I got the bologna.
