Kristal_Rose | | (reply to Wolfgang) posted 20-Apr-2005 6:44pm |
I was collecting something exotic once per month for witchy mixing at my rare parties. I had accumulated 48 bottles of things like watermelon liquer, good port, ouzo, etc., not including a few bottles of St. Pauli Girl and Sonora Barley-wine. It didn't dawn on me that i'd be saying good-bye to those old friends for several months while my my bro saves up money to move back home. The closest I got to drinking alone was a sipped shot-glass of port or irish cream for desert.
I found some sparrow legs in my hall a few days ago. Apparently the cats are compelled to have a sacrifice anytime I have a new guest. You suddenly remind to worry what became of the rest of the bird. I suppose if he were still here though, I'd have an ant trail to follow. |

What an explosive combination. An alcoholic brother and exotic liquors in a bedroom! Maybe your rare parties should become more frequent so the liquor under the bed feels it is going to have some grand purpose. If all your brother did was drink it, the poor exotic liquid must have left very disappointed. All that waiting...for what? |
Kristal_Rose | | (reply to Wolfgang) posted 22-Apr-2005 4:25pm |
The collection grew during and after college courses when parties were more frequent. It took me a while to readjust my buying for the fact that without college, wild mystical women weren't visiting. Any more parties like that will have to wait till he's gone.
It left the house the night before he arrived. |
| Wolfgang |
Are you holding up well ? I guess he is still with you, and was ambitious about seeking employment, but so many other issues have to be settled before any success of that can come. We both know that. Yes, one can find a job. But how does one keep a job if being in an alcoholic daze is what one is most comfortable with? It is important to get sober, yes,,,,it is important to stay sober...yes...but until one is comfortable in the state of recovery...very little else can be accomplished. And this does take time. Time that people do not gives themselves, thus, failure at living life is, more or less, expected by themselves and their loved ones. |
Kristal_Rose | | (reply to Wolfgang) posted 22-Apr-2005 4:57pm |
He stopped drinking when he arrived. He said he'd die of seizures without tapering off, and I told him that he'd have to die on the streets then. For a couple days I telepathically went through his headaches, burning head at night, and waited out the hot/cold sweats shakes with him. He accepted that he'd have to make far more money than he was thinking up north, and was willing to find fast food work. On his fifth day here he found a good job doing bmw and mercedes diagnostics/repair on commission, and will be making good money. He hadn't worked in a year or two.
It was a fairly miracle recovery, but next I need to work on his maintaining a non-oblivious spiritual connection and psychological awareness even when things are going well, so he remains self-aware and doesn't sleep-walk himself into negligent troubles again. When he's sober, he's good company, and his wife (my ex-wife) becomes helpful, etc etc.
I was really worried I'd find that his problems didn't go away with the alcohol. The only problem that isn't fading right away is the poor memory of prior day events. I expect that will be half the problem in a month, and half that in a year.
Eventually we need to get down to deeper life drives and motives. A 9-5 routine alone might not fulfill other life needs. To do it, he turns off his dreamy excited adventurous spirit. |

Nope, it was just an old wooden frame and it got dropped when it was being carried down a flight of stairs. In fact, the frame got dropped near the top of the stairs and sort of went the rest of the way down by itself, in pieces. I've since resurrected my waterbed from storage and am using it. It's just easier on my back and gives me more support than the futon. I wasn't using my waterbed at my previous place because the landlord didn't allow them. I've now got the futon mattress kind of rolled up and stuffed into a closet. I expect I can always use it as a spare bed if someone stays over or if my waterbed were to spring a leak (not very likely). |
Kristal_Rose | | (reply to teatree) posted 30-Oct-2005 6:06pm |
Didn't know cats and waterbeds mixed. |
| teatree |
I use these things called "Soft Paws" on my kitties so that can't damage the waterbed or claw the furniture. Basically they are little plastic caps that go over the cat's claws. It doesn't hurt them, but it's great as a protection from the damage a cat's claws can do. I got them from my vet. |
Kristal_Rose | | (reply to teatree) posted 2-Nov-2005 10:49pm |
Interesting. I trim my cats claws, but still get scratched up from time to time. |
| teatree |
I do both, but the Soft Paws insure that the cats claws won't accidentally puncture my water bed. As you can see by my avatar, I allow them on my bed. |

Nope, those are two of my babies. The orange & white one is Punkin & the black & white one is Patches. My other two kitties were in the living room sleeping curled up together in a chair. They are Midnight (solid black) and Madness (my insane little Tabby cat). Madness was a feral kitten when I adopted her, hence her name. She's a bit odd, but quite lovable. She's also a drama queen and carries on as though you're killing her when you're grooming her or clipping her nails. |
