| southernyankee | posted 17-Apr-2005 12:31am I know at least 2 charlies/charleses. I think I might know a Richard (Richy to be exact) but no one uses the nickname "dick" anymore. I know a Jamie, I know at least 3 Jonathans and maybe even a Johnny. I know maybe one Robert, but I do know a lot of "Roberts" as a last name. (btw: I dont think I know of any Bob's.) I definatly know a Michale or two. I know a Will and a few Bills (I had no idea there was a connection).
And why do I get the feeling that this is a caviartaste survey? |

| ROCKMAN | posted 17-Apr-2005 8:17am I know a lot of all of these names. It would take me o long to count them all up for each name. Dave, Mike, and John would be the most. Like I know probably without counting them 20 Johns and 20 Mikes. I know a lot of people and see a lot of them all the time. Hell I know 6 other Randys that I see all the time. As a matter of fact we all know each other too. |
| ROCKMAN | (reply to Iseult) posted 17-Apr-2005 8:27am I like your survey, I can't believe so many people don't know more people with these common names. Sheltered lives I guess. |
| Dino | posted 17-Apr-2005 8:39am At least 2 of each, except Mary.
I don't know any Mary's. |
| Biggles | posted 17-Apr-2005 9:44am I'm assuming middle names don't count and defining "knowing" as seeing them on a reasonably regular basis...
James/Jamie - 2, but one of those is stretching it a bit. John - 0 Robert - 1 Mary - 0 Michael - 0 William - 0 David - 2, but again one of those is stretching it. Richard - 0 Charles - 0 Joseph - 1. Interesting that 3 of the 6 I know are close family members. |

| Iseult | (reply to ROCKMAN) posted 17-Apr-2005 10:12am Thanks.
I 'know' more people than this with these names, just that I haven't seen them in ages so I don't really count it as knowing. |
| Iseult | (reply to gingersnap) posted 17-Apr-2005 10:13am I don't think that it matters that you know a female Johnnie. I know a girl named Charlie and I still counted her. Many male names these days are unisex. |

| ROCKMAN | (reply to Iseult) posted 17-Apr-2005 10:41am I see. I see so many people that I know on a regular basis because of my businesses and hobbies and things. Saturday I went on a poker run with my Harley and there were about a hundred Bikers there and I knew over half of them. That's only part of my Biker Buddy crowd. Then there's my horseback riding crowd of friends. Then I have a couple other big groups of friends. I know a ton of people!! |

Do you want to have a common name? |
| thevelvetcure | (reply to Iseult) posted 18-Apr-2005 3:25pm Not entirely, I only mentioned Chris for the reason you mentioned. Throughout 1st grade - high school, there were always at least one other 'Chris' or some such derivative, and often there were two others.
