Have you ever had the "naked in public" nightmare?

I never knew there were people that DIDN'T have that dream!

When I was younger, all the time. Now, the most common dream is "I forgot to study for a test!" even though, I am not a student.

I remember a lot of my dreams, but I don't recall ever having had that one.

I don't think so.. but I remember having dreams when I was a kid that I accidentally went to school in my pajamas.

Yes, and it was not a nightmare, that's presumptuous. It was a wonderful experience, everyone adored me,........ in the dream that is. But that was years ago, I'm a bit older now and allot of nakedness has bared itself since then.

I've had that one almost as often as the teeth-falling-out nightmare!

I've heard a lot of people saying "Oh come on! everyone has that one!" etc. etc. but I've never had anything even distantly resembling it. I guess this survey shows it was probably a fairly poor assumption on their part.

Until I week ago I would have said that I had never had a dream in which I was in public without clothing, period. I've still never had a nightmare about it, it's never been terrible, but last week I did have a dream that I'd forgotten my pants and decided (after some debate, I was wearing a longish shirt) to go back to my sister's apartment to get some pants. Trying to understand her directions made me focus enough to wake up and notice that I was sleeping with my entire lower half outside the covers. Aha.

Nope, but I hate that one where all my teeth are loose & start falling out one by one.

Hey, that's right (hunter's comment jogged my memory). I had a dream in the last week in which I was walking around a party, and I was naked from the waste down. My wee-wee was exposed. I mostly was just ignoring it, but then I would occasionally think, "oh dear, they're going to see my wee-wee...". I wasn't really upset, it was just odd.

I've had the dream in which I was naked in public and it was inappropriate for me to be, but it was never a nightmare. I was just uncomfortable and had to figure out a way to deal with it- usually it involved me deciding to just pretend it's normal and go about my business and try to get some clothes as soon as possible. Nightmares for me usually involve personal or global apocalypses- really horrible stuff.

Pommy- I described my 'forgot to study' and related school dreams to someone once who told me that they pretty much followed the pattern for post-traumatic-stress-disorder. I can happily say that now 3 years after my last degree, the dreams have mostly stopped.

Miykal: No presumption. I'm asking if you had the "naked in public" nightmare. This is distinct from any number of "naked in public" dreams one might have that are not nightmares. (That was why I added the "and it's terrible" in the explanation.)

topper, no. I don't think I actually thought of it in terms of any word in my dream. I was just using that term for the hell of it and perhaps because in my dream my penis wasn't enlarged and throbbing or anything like that. It was being small and nondescript.

Usually, it's not that I'm without clothing, it's that I have only a little clothing (e.g. only a blanket) and it's trying to fall off of me. The interesting thing is that I'm not at all shy about being naked in at least semi-public (e.g. I don't worry too much about closing my bedroom shades) unless I see a real probability for it offending someone.

I used to have it a lot, then had a dream where I was naked in public and that was OK. Now I have the "naked in public" dream occassionally, but it's no longer a nightmare.

Like topper, my naked in public dreams are usually that it is inappropriate for me to be naked, or less than fully clothed, but if I can somehow bluff it through, no one else will notice. So my anxiety is not about being naked, but about whether I can pull off the pretense.

I had a dream in which I was naked in public, but it was okay. I presume by 'nightmare' you mean 'bad dream' - I've only had one of those that I can remember, but I wasn't in it.

i had one where i was standing in school and all of a sudden i realized "hey, i'm not wearing pants" oops

I have a dozen times in my life. It's an embarressing dream. Anybody know what it is supposed to mean ?

The nudity represents the vulnerability we all feel as humans but usually hide as not to seem weak.....as we hide our shameful nakedness under our clothing(Thanx Adam and Eve...you fartbrains!...What? They were tempted by Satan?...It was the Devil's fault we have to wear clothing?It can't be!!!!!! I won't believe it....wait...It's just a story...silly me....)

I have had that dream a couple of times,the worst one was when i was at a pool party and all of the sudden a huge gust of air blew off my swim trunks and all these girls and boys at the party started laughing and pointing):!

I am the hall of my high school totally naked. Everyone can see me. They can clearly see that I have a tiny, little shaved dick. It is humiliating.
