| Updown | posted 14-Mar-2005 5:52pm Wearing heavy clothing. I live in the Southern US. We get snow once every six years. When we do I often try to ambush friends with snowballs. |
| Enheduanna | posted 14-Mar-2005 6:44pm No snow where I live. I did take one trip to a snowy locale, but I did not participate in any sports while I was there. |
| RainingFeathers | posted 14-Mar-2005 7:12pm I don't do any of these. We do get snow, and I love cold weather, I just don't play outside. |
| cerealkiller | posted 14-Mar-2005 7:13pm No snow or ice here. Have to drive 4 hours to Tahoe for that. I miss snowmobiling, sledding, snowball fights, making angels and snowmen, shoveling snow. Screw this 90 degree weather in March. |
| romkey | posted 14-Mar-2005 7:45pm Staying indoors, making a fire, hot chocolate, cabin fever. |
| Biggles | posted 14-Mar-2005 8:11pm I used to do a lot more of these, but we haven't had proper snow in years. |
| Matty | posted 14-Mar-2005 8:29pm I go up to my father's house in upstate New York (almost Canada) to go snowmobiling and hunting. |
| Galomorro | posted 14-Mar-2005 9:00pm I don't have any snow or ice where I live during the winter. AND I am also a wuss when it comes to winter weather -- I can take heat over cold more any day. |
| Amanda | posted 14-Mar-2005 9:55pm We sometimes get snow and ice, but not enough to do any of these things. I think we've only gotten enough snow to make a decent snowman about twice in my life. |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 14-Mar-2005 10:20pm We rarely, if ever get more than 1-2 inches of snow and, in fact haven't gotten any snow at all in the last 2 years. The bodies of water closest to me are rivers and they tend not to freeze over even if it was cold enough for them to do so. Oregon is a former rain forest with fairly temperate weather. The only way you'll see snow if at the higher elevations north of me and the only ice skating you would be able to do is at a skating rink as it never gets cold enough for even ponds to freeze over. |
| RaveDevil | posted 14-Mar-2005 10:22pm Well, I'm real big into downhill skiing, and I've cross country skied before to see what it was like. Also, I was in a snowball fight not long ago. It must have gone on for over a half hour. Sometimes I ride sleds too, that was last winter though. It was a pretty fun winter this year, to say the least.
However, I'm ready for spring now. |
| Zang | posted 14-Mar-2005 10:26pm First of all, it doesn't snow much around here. Secondly, when it does snow I prefer to be indoors. A typical Vancouver snowfall occurs about once every couple of years or so and barely covers the ground before the rain washes it away. We don't really get Winter here. It's more like "the rainy season". It's already Spring. The flowers are blooming. The weather has been quite warm for several weeks now. I wore a jean jacket and a T-shirt today. |
| BionicLips | posted 15-Mar-2005 3:46am no snow here in florida |
| thevelvetcure | posted 15-Mar-2005 5:19am sledding Weeeeee!!! |
| ROCKMAN | posted 15-Mar-2005 6:10am We didn't have hardly any snow this year. It's been a pretty mild winter over all.
Oh BTW I don't do any of the things on this list. |
| bill | posted 15-Mar-2005 6:56am I did some snowshoeing recently.
Wow, that's a lot of vowels all crammed together. |
| romkey | (reply to bill) posted 15-Mar-2005 8:17am It's a ... vowel... movement. |
| caviartaste | posted 15-Mar-2005 9:01am what winter? |
| bill | (reply to romkey) posted 15-Mar-2005 9:24am *groan* |
| southernyankee | posted 15-Mar-2005 2:10pm Our idea of winter is just being really really cold (which is still not that cold). We have no snow over here, and we only have 2 seasons winter and summer over here. What exactly is spring and fall I wish someone who doesnt live here tells me one day. |
| RaveDevil | (reply to southernyankee) posted 15-Mar-2005 4:58pm I live in Ohio and I experience all the seasons. I used to think living somewhere that had constant weather patterns would be enjoyable, but now not so much. It sounds like it's kinda boring actually. |
| LindaH | posted 15-Mar-2005 8:25pm Pegging innocent unsuspecting people in the back of the head with big ole squishy snowballs. |
| Amanda | (reply to southernyankee) posted 16-Mar-2005 12:45am Allow me to explain spring and fall for you. Spring are those 2 days between winter and summer where the temperture is bearable. Fall is the 2 days between summer and winter where the temperature is bearable.
When I went to Colorado a few years ago, the temperature was dipping around 10 degrees, but it didn't feel that cold. The air is much dryer up there, so it doesn't feel nearly as cold as it would in the south. As our area has a ton of humidity. Same as with Arizona in the summer. The temperature is higher there, but it'll feel hotter here. |
| Iseult | posted 16-Mar-2005 7:52am None of these. I don't like winter and I'm not a wuss, you biased pig. |
| RaveDevil | (reply to Iseult) posted 16-Mar-2005 3:07pm Don't mind me saying, but stop being so moody and get a sense of humor while you're at it.
Not everybody has to take it so literally. |
| Jemmy | posted 16-Mar-2005 4:04pm I'm a wuss, give me the heat please. |
| Wolfgang | (reply to RaveDevil) posted 16-Mar-2005 5:12pm Making this on a cold day...
flaming turtle chocolate fondue Ingredients 1/4 cup milk 1/2 cup milk chocolate 1/4 cup caramel syrup 2 Tbsp pecans, chopped 2 Tbsp rum, 151-proof for flambé |
| southernyankee | (reply to Amanda) posted 16-Mar-2005 7:31pm Thanks for the explanation |
| RaveDevil | (reply to Wolfgang) posted 16-Mar-2005 8:57pm Good reply. Thanks for the ingredients too. |
| Cain | posted 20-Mar-2005 9:25am Snowball fights and building snow people.
Our winter was rubbish this year, only a few days of snow which turned to slush before you knew it. Slushball fights aren't nearly as much fun. |
| Wolfgang | (reply to RaveDevil) posted 21-Mar-2005 11:30am try it and tell me how you love it! |
| patarnone | posted 24-Mar-2005 5:27pm I'm not a big fan of getting wet or cold, and we're in a drought right now... our ski areas in the Cascade Mountains (Washington state) are hit hard for the 3rd year in a row. (not that I ever could afford to ski) Snow is a lot prettier to look at than be in, in my humble opinion! And photographers, with snow, remember to adjust for the brightness! |
| Starfish | posted 30-Mar-2005 6:55am Snow ball fights!! RAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!! |
| Starfish | (reply to Biggles) posted 30-Mar-2005 6:56am Hey, didn't you have any snow this year in Oxford/Sheffield? I thought the
"blizzards" were countrywide! |
| Biggles | (reply to Starfish) posted 30-Mar-2005 1:54pm A light dusting - it barely settled. There may have been more in Sheffield, but I wasn't here! |
