um... I rinse.
I suspect that really, they were horrified that you weren't buying their products.
I've never been able to decide if I thought that the whole skin care thing made any real sense or if it was just a ploy to sell more crap. I'm sure there's some of each in it.
I recognize that just soaping up your skin is probably doing some damage that you then want to reverse (while doing some good in cleansing it and removing bacteria...). I think it could probably stop there, though... |

I wash with Ivory, not frou-frou products that cost the GDP of Chile. |

I think one of the biggest problems with our society is the way people are getting overloaded with marketing and sales. The techniques are getting more an more devious. They are forced to escalate their tactics to compete. We're perpetually manipulated into consuming more and more. Most of it doesn't even make sense. We are in debt, overweight, and our tools are using us. I'm hoping that some sort of counter-culture revolution will eventually gain momentum and break the cycle we're in. |

I wipe it with a flannel and leave it at that... not much of a girlie girl I'm afraid |
Enheduanna | | posted 8-Mar-2005 12:49pm |
No, I cleanse and moisturize. Toner is a gimmick. It just dries your skin out so you need more moisturizer. |
Enheduanna | | posted 8-Mar-2005 12:53pm |
OK, all you skeptics: I wash with a special, moderately expensive soap, and moisturize with a fairly inexpensive drugstore-brand moisturizer, and my skin looks much better than it used to. Some of us don't have great skin, and washing and moisturizing really help a lot. It's fine for you to say this is vanity, but personally, at age 31, I am ready to stop having zits. |

Cleanse and moisturize. I don't think I fully grasp the concept of toning. |
| cerealkiller |
Only cleaning is a shower daily. I don't believe in all that hype and products for everything. |
| darkshadowsseeker |
I cleanse my face using Noxzema and cleanse my body using soap. I use hand lotion, but mostly in the winter when the cold weather dries out the skin on my hands. I have no clue what "toning" involves. I've seen commercials for substances that "tone", but I'm not certain as to what it involves. |
| RainingFeathers |
I sometimes cleanse, and sometimes moisturize, but not very often. |
| thevelvetcure |
A who? A what? A how? .....just plain no. My face doesn't even seee a washcloth. |
| Biggles |
No. I wash using a flannel and water. I cleanse every now and then, as dictated by my hormones. Usually, I prefer not to cleanse (and certainly not to use soap) as it seems to "reset" my skin somehow and make it worse than it was before. I would love to have great skin... |
| caviartaste |
I just cleanse and moisturise daily....I'm not sure what toning is... |
Iseult |
Well not daily. I have too much crap lined up in my bathroom to do it all on daily basis, but I do most of them everyday. I wash my face whenever I take a shower, i moisturize after a shower or whenever I feel I need it, I'll tone whenever I need to, I'll put a mask whenever I feel a need for it, etc. |
Iseult |
What Enheduanna said. Some people don't need it, some people do. You just need the right product(s). |
Iseult |
If you feel toner is drying your face, you might be just using one with alcohol base. I had one from Clinique and it did that to me, but now I have one for Nivia and it's really good. |
Enheduanna | | (reply to Iseult) posted 8-Mar-2005 6:58pm |
I've tried various kinds. I do better without toner of any kind. |

Yes, almost every day! |

I do now, but I never used to. I have to say I have noticed an improvement in my skin, especially with my acne and the size of my pores - Liz Earle products rule. All natural ingredients and no animal testing |
| Jemmy | | posted 8-Mar-2005 10:40pm |
Yes, but not daily. I cleanse daily. I moisturize when my skin feels dry, and I tone when my skin feels oily. It depends a lot on the weather. |
jettles |
i cleanse and moisturise. |

what's a flannel? In the US, flannel is a type of cloth, specifically referring to a grade of cotton, and checkish color scheme. |
| Biggles | | (reply to Matty) posted 10-Mar-2005 2:52pm |
A cloth for washing yourself with. I always assumed that flannel was the material they were made from...but that doesn't really make much sense when I think of other things I've heard described as flannel. |
Matty | | (reply to Biggles) posted 10-Mar-2005 2:53pm |
we would call that a wash cloth; it'e made of terry cloth |
Matty | | (reply to Biggles) posted 10-Mar-2005 2:54pm |
also, grey "flannel" is a line of cleansers and perfume for men |
| Biggles | | (reply to Matty) posted 10-Mar-2005 2:55pm |
When I think terry cloth, I think nappies! Yuck!!! But you're right, the material is pretty much the same. |

I started cleansing (water) and moisturising regularly a couple of years ago. I live in hope that it will help prevent as many wrinkles as could be the case. My mother has never been one to bother with such things, so I guess that's why I've started so late. I do have some rose water, but very rarely use it. |
| patarnone | | posted 26-Mar-2005 11:19am |
No, Got 2 free samples of some very expensive stuff for night time, and if was like I couldn't breath, well, that my skin couldn't breath. Here it was suppose to do great things for my age old face, and I thought it felt like being smothered. Just old fashioned, I guess... good old washcloth with soap and water is fine by me. |
| southernyankee | | posted 29-Mar-2005 9:35pm |
none. The most I do is take a shower/bath once every two days and use one of those sponges or washcloths to get to soap on and scrub myself. Sometimes I grab one of those moisturizing things once in a while if I see one in front of me, but I never actually pay attention to the brand, much less buy one. One time I remember one of my suitemates had one of those moisurizers in a bottle in the shower and I used it everyday. I kinda liked it but I wouldn't go out of my way just to get it. btw: I sort of didnt exactly ask him and apparantly he wasn't very trilled by the end of the semester when he found out that the bottle was all empty. |

I don't have any idea what most of these terms mean. I bath and use Ivory soap. That's it. |
