| anonymous | posted 18-Apr-1999 9:30pm I only lie about inconsequential things. For example...of course dinner tasted good...I'm not upset about you being 40 minutes late...no, I don't mind covering you for the boss...etc. |
| SueBee | posted 18-Apr-1999 10:00pm As a kid I ALWAYS got caught when I lied, so I seldom do it anymore, except for little white lies to save other people's feelings. |
| supplicant | posted 19-Apr-1999 4:37am I have no idea, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the last time I had a verbal conversation with someone ;) I'm by no means a pathological liar, but I have no problem lieing if I see it as necessary for any reason. |
| bill | posted 19-Apr-1999 7:34am I mostly never lie, but I have to admit there are areas where I keep things to myself or put a positive spin on something. Other times, I say one thing then later realize that I don't really feel that way anymore. Sometimes I lie for fun when I feel that such a lie is clearly harmless. Perhaps it's more for practice than for fun. ...or to test my internal reaction to my own lies (do I feel guilty?). This is not a black and white issue. |
| bill | posted 19-Apr-1999 7:38am mandy, please make an effort to set the Category on your surveys. I make a point of recategorizing "miscellaneous" surveys. |
| doom | posted 19-Apr-1999 9:35am The only time I lie is as part of a Role Playing Game and then that is part of the game. :) |
| magbast | posted 19-Apr-1999 10:48am i lie to myself everyday |
| mandy | posted 19-Apr-1999 11:15am I thought I did? How strange...sorry about that, Bill.... |
| presti | posted 19-Apr-1999 3:44pm probably just a little white one earlier this month |
| madamex | posted 19-Apr-1999 5:09pm I have made a conscious decision that I will not lie to cover myself, but occasionally I slip. Then it's worse, because I have to 'fess up to the lie and the original misdeed. I still occasionally lie to 'protect someone's feelings' but increasingly seek ways that I don't have to. |
| madamex | posted 19-Apr-1999 5:11pm magblast: Oh yes, I forgot about that one. I lie to myself constantly. |
| jonathan | posted 20-Apr-1999 9:46am Good survey. |
| lizzie | posted 20-Apr-1999 1:21pm I will lie to save a person's feelings, if I think they can't handle the truth, or I will ask them if they really want to know the answer to their question. Usually they say "no" and it saves me from having to lie. About important stuff I don't lie. |
| grmbrand | posted 20-Apr-1999 4:31pm I'm lying right now. Trust me. |
| Gamera | posted 21-Apr-1999 6:26pm There's different kinds of lying to consider, too- is it lying only if you blatently say something which is factually untrue? or is it also lying if you "spin" an answer hard enough? How about if you just with hold information that no one even asked about, but you know they would want to know if they new to ask? |
| fooyun | posted 22-Apr-1999 12:46pm Does lying on a survey count? :D |
| robin | posted 22-Apr-1999 3:08pm I recently lied about having an S.O. to someone with whom I am not comfortable discussing the nature of my relationship. |
| wanda78 | posted 23-Apr-1999 10:41pm I lie constantly..yep, that's me. |
| they | posted 24-Apr-1999 4:16pm I'm a terrible liar... so I never do it. |
| drdt | posted 26-Apr-1999 12:28pm I am a fabulous liar... so I never do it. |
