I only lie about inconsequential things. For example...of course dinner tasted good...I'm not upset about you being 40 minutes late...no, I don't mind covering you for the boss...etc.

As a kid I ALWAYS got caught when I lied, so I seldom do it anymore, except for little white lies to save other
people's feelings.

I have no idea, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the last time I had a verbal conversation with someone ;)

I'm by no means a pathological liar, but I have no problem lieing if I see it as necessary for any reason.

I mostly never lie, but I have to admit there are areas where I keep things to myself or put a positive spin on something. Other times, I say one thing then later realize that I don't really feel that way anymore. Sometimes I lie for fun when I feel that such a lie is clearly harmless. Perhaps it's more for practice than for fun. ...or to test my internal reaction to my own lies (do I feel guilty?).
This is not a black and white issue.

mandy, please make an effort to set the Category on your surveys. I make a point of recategorizing "miscellaneous" surveys.

The only time I lie is as part of a Role Playing Game and then that is part of the game. :)

I have made a conscious decision that I will not lie to cover myself, but occasionally I slip. Then it's worse, because I have to 'fess up to the lie and the original misdeed. I still occasionally lie to 'protect someone's feelings' but increasingly seek ways that I don't have to.

I will lie to save a person's feelings, if I think they can't handle the truth, or I will ask them if they really want to know the answer to their question. Usually they say "no" and it saves me from having to lie. About important stuff I don't lie.

There's different kinds of lying to consider, too- is it lying only if you blatently say something which is factually untrue? or is it also lying if you "spin" an answer hard enough? How about if you just with hold information that no one even asked about, but you know they would want to know if they new to ask?
