Have you or do you know someone who has used a racial slur to describe themselves?

I've called myself every epitaph in the book. Cracker, Mick, Kraut, Honkey, Gringo; I've used 'em all. Sometimes my black friends have called me the N word in an affectionate tone.

I know within the circle of gay people that I know....they have taken gay slurs...like ice cream man and dyke and
made these words their own...in a way taking the negative power of the words away...

twister: The gay people I know do the same thing. It's taking something negative and making it positive. The polar opposite of what the Nazis did to the swastika.

I didn't know the Irish were a race...

I have used the term "Mick" to desribe myself for ironic effect, and usually with people I have known for a while. I would be mortified though if by doing so, I offended someone.

It's been a while since I called myself a honky, but I may do it again. I guess I'm a Mick too, but I don't know anyone who uses that word. I wouldn't really mind being called a Mick or a Honky. Again, what bothers me is why they said it. If they did it to hurt me, then it will likely hurt me on some level.

I am of too many different ethnic origins to call myself anything.
I'm just a canuck, eh.

Somehow this question really confuses me, but I'm kind of out of it.
